Had a GREAT run this weekend! (Have not said that in ages)

We were planning on doing our 8-miler after core Friday and having it out of the way before meeting up with liong time WISH friends at Notre Dame for the weekend. Well, it got rained out, so Scott had us pack to run campus. There is so much goign on that we had to go early to get it in. Were afraid we'd miss out on teh pre-game day feel. No way. It was awesome!!!!! Seeing the gold dome in the dark. The Grotto in the dark was awesome. Stumbling onto so many cool building in the dark. Made our way around to the stadium as it got lighter. At 7:30 am the tailgaters were already up and running. So fun! I was so slow, I'm blaming it on taking pix, but it was so incredible to have fun running again. The rain out was the best thing that ever happened to me! We only ended up with 7.5 due to miscalculating th e route home, but I was pulling some major neg splits, so I know 8 would have been fine. Just had a blast!!!!!! And we got to see good friends on top of it. Awesome!

All the best to those who are lucky enough to run W&D. I'm off to San Fran for a work conference. I had a good run yesterday and hopefully will get some running done in California.

Amanda

Tracy I'm so sorry that you're standing down and will miss you, so you'd better keep popping in. (I'll stalk you on facebook anyway!) Thanks for all of your help and support recently and I really hope things go more smoothly for you soon.

Kathy I hope you're feeling better after the sickness and it didn't ruin your trip. Fingers crossed your plane got to tampa ok and not any later.

Jeremy you're doing so so well! Getting out and hitting 10 miles in that heat is some achievement and there is so much tweaking to be done when you go from walk to run-walk. You'll get there and we'll all be ready to cheer.

Jim eek for your knee, just another sore point for you to conquer. I really don't know how you do it. Completely agree though that getting up and straight out is far harder work, but I like to think it trains your body how to run when there's nothing left in the tank!

Stan i hope you and your wife have an amazing time and what a great way to run it, knowing it's for fun. No pressure, pure disney enjoyment.

Amanda great work getting those miles in. Is it an interesting conference and do you have to present?

Carrie what a wonderful run that was! I could almost feel your enjoyment reading that! About time we had some more fun running experiences, not just getting miles done. Brilliant.

John that's one heck of a bike ride! Goodness me, I actually don't know how you do it. Have a great time at the race

Me I've been taping myself up with KT tape to try to help my shin. It's working a bit, although it could be more a psychological thing that it feels more secure. Off to physio again tomorrow so we'll see. Managed to get to our local racecourse to run at the weekend so I could do most of it on grass and that really helped. 8 laps of the course and a shprt run there and home made up just over 10.5 miles so I was pleased. Ran on the road tues- hurt, gym today- hurt so we'll see. Only 1 1/2 weeks til the half so I'm hoping it holds out.

Also doing a lot of manual work stripping wallpaper and sanding our little house! I'm so inpatient though, want it to be ready now!!!!! he he he.

RACE WELL WARRIORS! so proud of all of you

Tracy - Don't be a stranger, pop in every so often so way Hi.

Jim - I started working out in the morning at the beginning of this summer. I find I need at least 1/2 an hour get full awake before heading out. On my Long days, I've been getting up about 5:30 eating breakfast and drinking some water and sports drink before laying back down until about 7:00 to finish getting ready, go to the restroom a couple of times (I'm on a diuretic and that's even waiting until after running) to finally get out about 7:30.

Stan - You and your wife have fun at the W&D

Carrie - Sounds like you had a great time at Notre Dame

Thanks everyone for the kind words, Monday and Wednesday's workout went very well. I did about 5 miles each day. Monday's was a little different in that when I looked at my results on the computer, other than the first 1/2 mile warmup and 1/2 mile cooldown. All of the 1/2 mile splits were within a few seconds of 14:30 pace. Today's was faster but not as consistent. I'm going to my sisters tomorrow after work. I'm hoping planning on getting my 8mi walk/run in on Friday morning at their place. There is a trail about 1/2 a mile from their house. The weather here is getting really cool. I shouldn't have any problem with temperature. The weather forecast is for lows in the 40's and highs in the mid 60's all weekend. It will be good training in a new area. I seem to know every curve and rise where I normally train.

Jeremy - Yes, change of pace does wonders!!! ENjoy!

Kate - I knew you'd understand how happy a fun run would make me! :goodvibes Hope you stopp hurting and get one soon! Hey, don't beat me on finishing your house. We've only been her e14 years and have a ways to go! :rolleyes1

Amanda - Have a grat trip! Hope oyu can have a fun change of scenery run too!

Tonight's run, not so good. Yesterday's yoga class was hip focused and seemed to tire every muscle that made my legs move. Let's go back to thinking about Saturday's run, shall we? :rotfl:

Thanks for the good wishes! I'm going to the American Academy of Pediatrics conference. I'm planning some down time but it's usually pretty busy (but fun!). I love San Fran!!!

Thinking of all the runners this weekend. So jealous!!!

Amanda

Mornin' Warriors!!

Did a nice easy 4 miler this morning in 38:00 followed by an easy 1.2 mile walk back home.

Driving down to O Town tomorrow about 11am. Hopefully at the expo by about 2-2:30. Have to drop the canines off at the condo first.

All of the errant, disrespectful body parts seem to be behaving themselves so far this week. Hopefully it will stay that way.

Everyone heading south & east this week, please travel safely!!!
