Super Soap Weekend

Jules - My mom is actually a Y&R and B&B fan. And going to SSW has been fun for her. She got to meet Jacob Young (who used to be on B&B) and Heather Tom (who used to be on Y&R). So with actors moving all around you never know who you'll meet.

Great pics, thanks for posting. I love those ABC soaps. This year was the 1st year I didn't attend.

I would love to attend SSW one day! Looks like so much fun! I've met a few GH stars (GH is my favorite soap), but just when they've come to local signings and such. Got to meet Greg Vaughn at a store signing here last July....surprisingly, not too many people in line to meet him...maybe because it was in a sports store and poorly promoted.

So wonder why Maurice got nervous? He and Steve are the "stars" yet they appear to be the least amicable. Perhaps your impression was different than mine and no doubt the crowds are bigger. Rick and Greg seem to love the whole thing tho!

I would still love to go to the fan club thingy as they are all there. I am really disappointed that Greg is not coming back in the Chicago area as previously mentioned. "Jamie" from AMC is scheduled for that date at Zanies, I see.

Maurice is Bi-Polar this is why he is hardly ever at SSW! :guilty: Its a known fact he is on medication for it, and in interviews he talks about it. ;) I think he was at SSW once about 6 years ago, and I missed him at that time.

Yea.. I knew that about Maurice and have seen him on TV speaking about it. Just didn't realize that perhaps crowds have an adverse affect on him as I think he has his own events for the GH fan club in LA. He also appears to be very social with his fellow castmates .. if you believe the soap mag. and they all love him.. as do i. That is why i was a little surprised that the event would make him nervous. course, none of this i know first hand. i would think the disney world event could be trying for any of them!!!! what a mob!

Maurice does have personal issues. But the soap mags make it seem like he's a social guy. Guess he doesn't like crowds. I think Steve is more of an introvert than his character and is probably one of those guys who has a great time with people he knows as opposed to complete strangers (even if we're fans). He just seems very private. But he was super polite. Unlike the time I met Ingo, he was just rude. I would never go see him again. Greg was definitely having a great time at the event. He came over to sign my soap mag. So even though I didn't get to personally meet and take a pic with him he did sign my mag. It's the little things.

GREAT pictures!~!~ That would of been great to get pic's with all them!!

Why does that not surprise me about Ingo? hmmm.

yea, i think both steve and maurice are not particully comfortable with the celebrity scene but clearly they are great guys and reknown for their humor. steve always gets rated high for his sense fo humor and they seem to be a great pair with each other. my impression of steve ( never have seen MB ) at his meet and greet was he just wanted to get it over with and get out of there. that said, his "show" was fun and i would go again but i doubt he will do much of those out of town thingys.

Greg and Rick H. seem to really enjoy meeting people which makes them so likable. With Rick, as I mentioned, it was more of a cocktail party atmosphere and he was having a great time being surrounded by his admirers. Very chatty.

greg is the one that melts my heart tho!

I met Rick H at SSW a few years ago and he was terrific. The Disney CMs were trying rush fans through the signings, but Rick made sure he didn't let that happen. He took time to have a few minute conversation with each person even though it meant he was a little late for something else. Super nice guy!

I went to SSW for the second time and loved it!!! My mom and I plan to make it our yearly activity. I didn't get any autographs - I'm not sure I have the patience to battle people for fastpasses. I like to watch the events like the interviews. That being said I loved WWTBAM. I saw the one with Greg and Rebecca. It was so much fun. Walt Willey was hysterical. Next year I want to try the Wide World of Sports. The line was too long this last year.

For me the best part of SSW is the random sightings of stars on the days surrounding the event. Last year I saw "Brooke Lynn" at Downtown Disney. She was in line ahead of me at one of the stores. She was there with her mom and took the time to talk to me and my mom. She was incredibly sweet. This year I saw "Robin" at Animal Kingdom on the Monday after the event. It's nice to know some of the stars like Disney as much as I do!!

Is anyone planning to go next year? My mom and I are going and plan to stay at the Beach Club so we can be close to the action. I already can't wait!!!
:goodvibes

SSW has been a mother / daugther event for me and my mom for four years now and we plan on continuing the tradition as long as possible. Isn't it terrific!

For the past 5 years, and have had a blast! THE BEST SOAP STAR OF ALL TIME IS: Michael E. Knight (Tad of AMC fame). He is by far the MOST polite and loves to work the crowd!! :goodvibes He is very good with handicapped people and goes out of his way to sit at thier level and talk with them. ;) He was not there this year, due to walking pneumonia and BOY did I miss him. :guilty:

This was my first year and i will be going next year. I have learned the tricks and what events are the must sees for me so i think i will enjoy it more plus i stayed off site and won't do that again. not sure that i would stand inline for the autographs... standing in line for the events and parade was enough for me...

Back to Rick Hearst... he has got to be one of the friendliest and would love it if he came next time. I noticed it was mostly the younger crowd tho. Rebecca said she brought all of her family/parents/sister etc. I saw her and her little girl and boy and hubby when they were leaving the concert early. she is soo tiny!

and yes.. missing Michael Knight and Tyler were very disappointing. I swear when i hear the theme songs of any of the 3 soaps it brings it back. fun time !!!
