Hi.. New here but would love any input of ones that attended this event before,

Curious if staying off site would be recommended price wise. I have found a few hotels with free shuttles to the park.

Also.. is it necessary to rent a car or would a taxi cost me a fortune to get to my destination from the airport?

any tidbits of info would be greatly appreciated!

thanks.

I was at Super Soaps 2 years ago and wish I were going this year. Since it's the 10th anniversary of the weekend, it will probably be even more crowded than it was 2 years ago (hard to imagine). We stayed on site at Caribbean Beach. I don't think it really matters where you stay, but the most important thing is to get there even before the official opening time. We got there 15 minutes after it opened and the line for the autographs was 1-1/2 hours long! Yes, you go to the designated place to get your pass for the autograph time to come back. If your star is very popular, and you don't get there early enough, chances are you will be out of luck since there are a limited number of autographs given. Of course, if you don't want autographs or pictures with the star, you can skip this part and just attend the festivities. Taxi from the airport will cost you alot, but if your hotel has free transportation, then you won't need another taxi until you go home. For a few days, I think taking a taxi is worth it--you don't have to bother with renting a car, paying for parking, and returning it. Hope this helps.

thanks for the input... i am staying 2 miles off site so decided to rent to a car so i could get there early rather than rely on the hotels shuttle schedule.

i have seen Steve Burton and just saw Greg Vaughan last weekend ( i am a GH fan ) so autographs are not my big priority. got theirs already.

i guess my next question is seeing as tho it is being held at MGM studios..do I park at the main gate at Magic Kingdom and catch a bus??? or what?
I haven't been there in 20 years!

You can park at the Studios...they have their own lot. Do you get ABC Soaps in Depth magazine. Their website is http://abc.soapsindepth.hollywood.com/
When it gets closer to the weekend, they have maps and programs. Make sure you see the parade at night with all the stars--very Hollywood-like with the searchlights and very festive.

one more thing--I believe the weekend of Super Soaps is also the last weekend of the annual Epcot Food & Wine Festival. We had a great time walking around World Showcase to the different booths and tasting small portions of different ethnic foods...each portion varies from $3-$5 and you really eat your way around the world. You can share your portion if you are going with a companion and therefore get to taste more before you are full.

THANK YOU!! that is the info i needed! and yes, i get SOD.. that will help me for sure. I am very excited as i have wanted to go for years and when GV was talking about it at his meet and greet..i decided that i was going.

nice to have someone who has been to help me along. thanks again.
i would have parked at the main parking and and no doubt waited for the slow buses wasting valuable time.

We were lucky enough to be at Super Soap Weekend a few years ago. We stayed at the Yacht Club that year AND so DID the soap stars.

We saw MANY of them in the gift shop and one night they were having a private party at the hotel and as we were walking by many soap stars were outside (smoking and talking) and my daughters nearly swooned as they were able to take very up close and personal pictures with many of them, they were so kind and thoughtful.

Kelly Ripa was on All My Children at the time with her husband Mark Consuelos, they were walking around the pool with their children and Mark asked my husband for a light....my daughter said *Dad, you just lit Mateo's cigarette* swoon, swoon.......it was so much fun.

We have been to Disneyworld MANY times but that is the trip my DD's always talk about and think was SO special.
