Super Shuttle from SNA

Hi all! So we're heading to the parks in Jan next year, flying into SNA (2 adults). Normally we fly in the night before and take the DRE bus to the GCH, so we didn't mind waiting for whenever the next bus came. But this year we are landing early in the morning and hitting the parks as soon as we get there (whose idea was that? Oh yeah, mine lol). Our flight will land right after the bus leaves, so the super shuttle seemed like a nice compromise between waiting almost 45 minutes for the next bus and paying $30-$40 one way for a cab. Now, however, I've been reading reviews about super shuttle circling the airport multiple times, taking even longer! Has anyone had this experience coming from SNA? Will it even make much of a difference since the airport is so small (seemed like the reviews were coming from LAX)? Also, any heads up on what traffic will be like at 8AM on a Monday morning? Might just bite the bullet and take a cab or possibly Karmel shuttle if it will get us to the parks the faster and just forget the cost. Thanks!!

We are booked for the Super Shuttle from SNA in December and while I've never taken it from SNA, I have taken it from LAX. I never had any problems with them circling the airport and the one we took wasn't even full. Not sure why they would do that but perhaps we were just lucky.

SNA is so small, I don't think it would matter a whole lot even if they did but if you are on a time schedule then maybe the cab might be a better idea.

Thanks StyledSugar! Most of the complaints I read about super shuttle talked about circling the airport trolling for more passengers. I kind of figured that if the airport is small it wouldn't really matter.

I have taken SuperShuttle from SNA a few times. I think it's a great way to go. I've never experienced the circling of the airport. If you book each person in your party separately online you can get $3 off each way per person. Use the code UYR59.

My husband and I had three reservations with Super Shuttle for our Disney trip last weekend. The service was so horrendously awful that my complaint about two of the trips prompted SS customer service to refund those trips. I also canceled my prepaid up coming trips and vowed never again. The trip from SNA to our hotel on Disney way took over 80 minutes!! The trip from our hotel back to SNA, the driver was using two cell phones, his GPS device and scheduling device all while driving down Harbor Blvd. He left a passenger at a hotel who insisted that she had a reservation, only to have to back track and pick her up because the office called him telling him that that he was supposed to pick her up. (He had the name of the hotel wrong in his head) Then when he finally stopped for her he yelled at her in front of a van load of people, because she was impatient with him. Wow, never again. I'd rather pay the few extra bucks for a cab next time.

We took Super Shuttle from SNA about two weeks ago. There was no driving around the airport and the trip was quick. We were the last people to get dropped off (staying at DLH) but it still wasn't bad. No issues with the driver.

Do be aware that they have a 4 hour cancellation policy if you change your mind, though. We decided to take a cab back to the airport -- I cancelled my reservation 3.5 hours ahead of the scheduled pickup and they still refused to refund my $$.

Also if you have 4 people (or more) a cab is probably just as cheap.

Ouch. sorry. I'll be traveling in January with 4 total people, so a family round trip on the DLR or a taxi cab will be what we choose. Thanks for sharing.

Thanks everyone for your inputs! Hopefully we won't end up with one of the crazy drivers. That being said, I may just keep an eye out for some more taxi discounts to keep in mind before our trip. We're pretty flexible but with temptation that close, we might just take the quickest way there!!

We use Super Shuttle all the time at SNA. The last time was flying last Saturday and out Monday night. We have never had an experience circling the airport. However, one time we flew into LAX, had booked with Prime Time or something like that. Our driver circled for over 30 minutes trying to drum up business. Even though I spoke up, he continued to circle. I felt like a hostage in the van.

I will say that at the check-in booth at SNA, there is a handwritten sign that there may be a 20 minute delay because of traffic due to the airport construction. We did have to wait that 20 minutes. But our driver only waited an additional 5 minutes and we were off.

I will be traveling next year with my 3.5 y/o daughter -- do I need a car seat for super shuttle/DRE/taxi/etc? Thanks.

Yes you would.

To avoid needing a car seat you can book the Disneyland Express which is a coach not a taxi and you don't need a car seat or a booster.
