Are there any super secret back roads or access roads that can help you avoid traffic in getting from one park to another? This is our first time driving around the world. :goodvibes

I don't think you should try driving around any of the main roads to avoid the crowds. That's like getting off the interstate and driving on the access road. Sure there less cars, but you only travel half as fast.

Agreed. Traffic on the main roads is never that bad.

I can offer some info, but not specific roads. Go to Google Maps, zoom in on Lake Buena Vista FL, and turn on Street View. My DH loves to explore, so prepares himself this way to find alternate routes wherever we travel.

When we were down for a shuttle launch last year, we stayed in Kissimmee but one afternoon/evening drove around WDW property. He had found a quick way off the property (without tons of traffic) that dropped us right onto an I-4 feeder, and that was a great way back to our hotel!!

Using Street View you can also see if there is gated access or other limitations for the roads, that may not otherwise be marked on the map.

Enjoy your trip!! :)

No, because all the guest parking lot entrances and exits are on the main roads.

Back roads will work for getting on to WDW property. However, for driving around inside WDW, the main roads are really the only option for the general public. Traffic between the parks is not heavy anyway. The only bad place may be around DTD in the evening.

And for that, I go "around" OKW and SSR to avoid it. But, that's about it.

The Unofficial Guide has a section on "sneak routes" mostly for getting between on-property and off. Within property, it's typically fastest just to follow the signs, even if it doesn't seem the *shortest*.
