Super Goofs Team 4 Miles Challenge

Just gives me more reasons why I work at home :surfweb:
I wish I could do something from home!

I seriously think I should get a job in the school system somehow. Maybe as a secretary or something. But I want the summer-off schedule. That way I wouldn't have to worry about before/after school & vacation care for Zack. I just wish I knew how to get my foot in the door!

Kristi: Apply, apply, apply. Keep bugging them. Keep your resume on file so when they have an opening posted, you can just call in and bug some more. We have problems here with only friends of friends getting into admin in the school system and that is the only way my friend got in was to be persistent.

Hellooooooooooooooooooooo my other other second favorite team! If you guys are suffering from cabin fever, I suggest you all take a nice long vacation on the beach, just laying around and working on your tans! We will miss you, but you ARE WORTH it! :beach:

Good morning team! I was thinking about all of you last night.......:headache:

LTO and I didn't have to work out until the kids went to bed. So, there I was .....running on the dreadmill at 9:30 at night. NOT what I wanted to be doing after a long day, but I just couldn't let my team down. So, I did 3 miles on the dreadmill and 20 minutes of weights....

Now I am glad I did it, but I wasn't last night! And, when I work out late I can never fall asleep easy........so I had alot of time to think before I fell asleep

Totals: time: 60 min miles: 3

Kristi: Sorry to hear of the 'sickness' invading your house! I hope things turn around soon. Sending you PD :wizard:

Maura: Welcome to the Goofy side of life. Great team to be on!

Lisa: Great goal to have! A personal trainer sounds rewarding.....helping people to realize a dream has to be so worth it! When I grow up I would like to own my own bakery. :thumbsup2 I love to bake......which is really sad, since I am on a low carb diet!!! Sad but true

I hope the rest of the team is still geared up for a great week #2!

Beth

Beth, when I was younger, I wanted to be a nurse but life and my DD got in the way of school and I gave up. I was a medical assistant for awhile but that got really stressful when I tried to do that and run a medical office too. I enjoyed helping people get better and feel better. I really enjoy exercising and I think personal training would work for me. Actually, what I would really love to do is open a therapy business with my SIL who is a licensed PT with 2 special accreditations under her belt. As an ACE certified trainer, I would be able to implement the programs that she puts on paper. I think that would be awesome. Of course, one of us needs to win the lottery first since we both work for hospitals right now in order to provide insurance for our families. Like I said, life interferes!!

I too love baking and have turned that into creating new ways to make healthy snacks and foods for my family. I bake all our whole grain breads, make granola bars, etcetera. It takes a lot of extra time but is well worth it in the end!!

On the way to work, hit random object in the road.
Got back out to the garage after work and my tire was flat.
Had to drive 40 miles home on donut, going only 50mph on the highway the whole way.

Kristi--I know that feeling. This past December--on my birthday, no less--I decide to take myself out to the mall to see the latest Nordstrom (oh, who am I kidding--there's a new Chocolate cafe!:lovestruc) Anyway, I run over an old brake drum in the middle of the road--flat tire, dented wheel, several hundred $ to fix! ) On the plus side--the chocolate was great!!!!

Today, I did 3.05 miles in 33 minutes. It was my last day of run/walk in my training plan for weekdays. So from now on it's running only. This is getting scarier!

Maura

Lisa: It's still nice to dream, ain't it?:thumbsup2 I always wanted to be a nurse when I was little, and now I am! I guess I should count myself lucky! I do love my job.......and I get to work with PaDisneyFan! I am really lucky! But, I can still think about that bakery!:rolleyes1

Beth

Maura darlin, if you can do 3.05 miles in 33 minutes at a run/walk, running should not be scary for you. The majority of my 3 mile runs are at between a 10 and 12 mpm pace (longer if I am on the TM :sad2: ). You have nothing to be afraid of!!!!!!

Good Morning Super Goofs!

Well I was late to meet my running partner and she had an appointment this morning so we decided to do some speed work since we were going to have to cut our run short.

5.06 miles in a heartstopping 46:10 !!

I am still waiting for my heartrate to come back down!

Maura - You are doing awesome! You might want to slow your running down just a tiny bit when its run only. At least until you have done the it a couple times. Your times look fantastic!

Lisa - do you grind your own wheat? Several of my friends bake their own brad and they have really gotten into grinding their own flour as well. I support their habit by trying all their experiments. (Give it to Cecilia - she'll eat anything)

Cecilia, I barely have time to bake at some points in life. I have not tried grinding my own flour. We do not have it readily available here. The only time I do anything close to that is when I need oat flour and I grind the oatmeal into flour. I am actually trying keep the origin of my food within 50 miles of my home. It is a lot harder than you think being from the middle of nowhere. And, I experiment on my DH as we say the same thing. Remember the old Life commercial (or am I dating myself) "Let's give it to Mikey, yeah, he'll eat anything". That's how it goes in my house.

Hey all, hope everyone is feeling better and getting moving!

I did the Half at the Hamptons on Sunday...here are a few highlights, and a few low ones too...

Registration was so easy, they had everyone’s name who had pre-registered on the wall when you came in, and it had your bib/chip number there, so all you had to do was find your table, they were set up in a big U shape and the signs were up high, so it was really easy...if you were one of the 1st hundred (I think) to register you got a free pair of shoes, and your voucher for them was attached to your bib. After getting your bib/chip, you just moved around the U to get your shirt (I really like it, it's bright blue and yellow, but I heard one woman say they were "absolutely hideous") and goodie bag (they had clif shots in Margarita flavor!) and then there was a small table set up where you could buy gels, hats and gloves, and some shirts.

It started at 10:30 for walkers and 11 for runners. There were 1070 registered, about 50+ were walkers. They had pacers so you knew where to line up ('course I didn’t have trouble finding the end...but?), played the National Anthem and we were off!

It started out as 32 degrees and sunny. This caused any snow in the roads to become slushy (=wet feet) Remember, I am slow. By mile 4, it was snowing. Hard (=wet top). By mile 7 it was raining. Hard (=wet everything else) and...by mile 9 it was sleeting. Painful needles of ice. The last 5 miles of the race went along the water. With winds that I heard got up to 40 mph. I believe it. And the waves crashing against the rocks made sure if there was any part of you dry, it was now wet too.

At the end, there was beer. Lots and lots of beer. And inaugural medals, with ribbons that match the shirts (blue and yellow)

Ok, the bad parts. I didn’t finish. I guess I am just not ready for a half yet. Around mile 5, I got blisters on my blisters (I’m sure it was ‘cause my feet got so wet and weren’t healed from last month) and around mile 7, I started cramping really bad. (I still cant walk normally)

Another good thing…there was a WONDERFUL woman who came back (after finishing) when I was around mile 9 and walked with me and encouraged me, and got me to mile 11. I just couldn’t keep going. I wanted to, but just didn’t have it in me.

One last good thing, the medals were for all participants since it was inaugural, so I got my first bling!

Overall, I think it was a good race, the course was pretty flat, it was pretty well organized, but I would hope for better weather!

So, an update for me

2/9
1.75miles/30 mins

2/10
11 miles/2:48 (see, my time wasn’t THAT bad)

2/11
1 mile/not sure, it took a LONG time, it hurts so bad to walk, but I wanted to keep moving

Thanks for listening!!

Angie - you rock, woman! I am pretty sure I would have 'DNS' in those conditions on Sunday. And you did 11 miles?! :worship:

I am headed out to get my tire fixed.
I will report back after the Y this evening!

HA! If only....

I sat at Toyota for almost 2 hours having the oil changed, tire fixed, then tires rotated. Ok, fine. Took so long, I had to wake up Chad (who worked all night) to bring Zack to Tae Kwon Do class. Fine. Car is ready, but they don't wash it since it will take at least another half hour to do that. Fine. I get car and decide since I am not a TKD, I will hit the grocery store before I go to the Y for 6pm as planned. Get groceries. Get in car. Start to drive away. TIRE IS FLAT AGAIN!!! I have the trunk full of groceries. Chad is at TKD class. I have to call my parents to come get my groceries and bring them to my house and put them away for me before they spoil. Meanwhile, I have to use my AAA to have a guy come put the donut on (don't even get me started on the guy they sent for me). I then have to go back to Toyota and leave the car there. Again. I call my parents back and ask them to come get me and we'll go out for Mexican since I am so tired & frustrated. So, we eat. Still no word from Toyota. So, they drive me home. Just as we get close to home, of course, they call - car's now ready. So, back we go. I am not a happy camper.

So, I have to apologize to all of you.
and yes, I know we said no apologies!
I feel horrible that I missed yesterday and today's workouts due to car issues.
I got out of bed at 3am and was not home again until 7:15pm!
There honestly was no way I could go get in my miles today.
I feel horrible. I don't want to let you guys down.
And I also need to be doing this for me. Ugh. :sad2:
But now, I am going to bed. Thanks for letting me vent.

Is it Friday yet????? ;)

At least no one tried to capture your new car and hold it for ransom in a locked parking garage at 1am.

Sounds like you have had all the car fun you can stand for a while. I hope this takes care of it.

Angie
A very big congrats to you for even attempting! I know first hand what the weather was like that day- I would have stayed snug as a bug in my bed if I didn't have to work that day. You should give yourself a HUGE pat on the back for what you accomplished.

Kristi-
I am really hoping for you the day is better for you tomorrow. Hopefully you don't have to be anywhere in the morning. Did you at least get margaritas tonight?

Remember the old Life commercial (or am I dating myself) "Let's give it to Mikey, yeah, he'll eat anything".

Thats what I was quoting in my post too so you aren't dating yourself with me.

Angie! :thumbsup2 Way to go for such a HUGE effort! Rest those feet and perhaps try some epsom salt soaks to see if that helps them heal. You are my new hero.

Kristi - hang in there. Bad days always seems to pile up together to try to trip us up.

I am going to to TRY to get some crosstraining in today but I just found out we are having company (again) this weekend so I really need to get my house cleaned.

Cecilia

Angie - Holy cow - you are a warrior! Add me to the lists of those who would not even start on a day like that. Good going!!!!! I'm glad, too, that you were able to get that bling! :thumbsup2

Kristi - Yikes! I think that should count as XT as I'm sure you got your blood a 'pumpin! Let's hope the rest of the week is smooth sailing.

Not being on a regular exercise program since training for the full in January has stiffened by body. I feel so out of shape already. My walk/run on the TM last night was not pretty. :(

2.5 miles / 1 hour (with a little XT)

Steve/nukeman: 4.27 miles / 65 minutes

Kristi: I don't think you need to be sorry.....you had a REALLY bad day! No excuses necessary, but boy did you have a good one! :thumbsup2 We have a very long time to go yet, and you will be back at it soon enough. I hope you have a better day today!

Last nights exercise went pretty well. I ended up doing 30 minutes of strength training and 60 minutes on the treadmill while watching the Biggest Loser! Actually the hour on the treadmill went pretty fast. I walked during the show, and ran during commericals! It worked out nice!

Totals:

Time: 90 minutes
Miles: 4

Beth

I managed to squeeze out strength training while watching the Biggest Loser last night.

45 min. - situps, pushups, squats

This Chad typing, didn't realize Kristi was signed in
