Super Goofs End of Summer August thread

Hey guys! Remember me? The worst team member ever in the history of team members?! :guilty: I hope you guys can forgive me for being MIA :flower3:

I haven't been on here or training lately because of work, family illnesses, and my own illness and injury. The dust has settled though and I'm almost over my illness and my pains are going away, so I'm kicking my butt into gear because the half is just over 5 months away :scared1: I'm also still trying to do the TOT 13K in October, but I don't know if I'll be/feel ready for it.

I'll be checking back next week once I get back to training on Monday. I haven't ran in about a month :sad2: so I'll be taking it slow at first.

I hope everyone has a great weekend :goodvibes

All I have to say is "Welcome Back!" Can you feel the  tonight?!?!?!?!!!!

You are smart to take it slow...keeps the injuries down.

Hi All-
Wednesday- rode for 1.5 hours
Friday- ran for 5 miles in 50 minutes
Plan for today is to bring GG#2 to camp in Vermont then to go for a quick run.
Have fun everyone!

Just a quick drive by before the Nascar race comes on:

Saturday's workout numbers:
15 min ellipitical
45 min strength exercises/weights

Today's workout numbers:
20 min swimming
20 min elliptical
30 min strength/weights

Enjoy the rest of the weekend!

I was in the Naperville Sprint Tri.

overall place: 224 out of 1369
division place: 24 out of 85
gender place: 197 out of 780
time: 1:16:38
pace: 0:
400 Meter swim: 8:43
t1: 3:03
20 k bike: 39:33
t2: 1:31
5k run: 23:50
penalty: 0:00

I guess that counts as double miles/times, so put me down for 2:33:00 time, and

800 meters (about 1/2 a mile)
40 km biking (24.85 miles)
10 k running (6.2 miles)

Mike

Wow, Mike. You rock!!!

I hate to post right after that, but...
I did 5 minutes of rowing, ran 3.25 miles in 43:20, and swam for a whopping 6 minutes.

Good morning Goofs. I had some catching up to do over the weekend but, rest assured, I am here bright and early as usual!!

ArelysAdriana: Welcome back. We look forward to hearing your progress toward your wedding day. Laurie is in the process of planning hers!

Mike: Well, you rock once again. We had a sprint tri semi-locally and DH was watching it on the news and said, how come you didn't do that one?? :confused3 Yep, love ya hun but I am just not prepared!!

Joanne: When is the Maine Womens half? Isn't it in September some time?

Everyone else: Happy workouts!!

As for me, I got 8.1 in yesterday at a nice easy cruising pace of 10:36 mpm. I was not pushing myself but trying to stay in a steady 75% heart rate range for max fat burning. I felt really good at the end of the run and realized that 8.1 in 1:25:25 means I can surely finish ToT in about 1:20 and not too far behind my SIL and BIL as he does not run as fast as she. :woohoo: This week is full of fun and adventure with the TX family still here. They are planning a trip to North Conway, NH next weekend that I can partake in a day of (long drive for a little fun) due to work...:headache: but DH and I both HAVE to work on Monday without exception. :sad2: They are also having a lobster dinner on Friday evening which I cannot participate in either. I am deathly allergic to lobster. You know those people with deadly peanut allergies...that is me with lobster. :scared: I suppose it could be worse. The one time I ate it (and almost died) it did not taste that good to me anyway.

So onward Goofy soldiers and into the fitness light!!! Together we can attain our goals and, of course, rock the house too!!! I will update the spreadsheet later when I get all the totals from last week added to this past week...:teacher:

Completed my first workout in about 2 months...I felt like a slug during the run, but I needed to get that one under my belt. I always find that the first workout when starting back on a routine is usually the hardest.

28 min/2.4 miles
20 minutes calisthenics

H Goofs,

Busy weekend, not much exercise, sorry

Thursday night 60 minutes of walking for 3.3 miles with DD.

Tonight 45 minutes run outside for 3.3 miles.

Welcome back ArelysAdriana. I'm also trying to get my butt in gear for the TOT

Great Job Mike !!!! :worship:

As for me ..be struggling with some foot pain lately. Drove out
to a speciality running store to get properly fitted. I'm hoping it will help, so now I'm waiting for my nb 1011 to come in
Elliptical: 60 minutes/ 4.13 miles
Walking: 91 minutes/ 5 miles
Bootcamp Aerobics: 60 minutes

Keep up the great work everyone !!

I see its time for the Race Ready shirt order and the original WISH shirt order. Trying to decide which one. Anyone have one or the other or both? Pricing looks to be about the same once printing costs and shipping are added in. I am also concerned about sizing. Any help out there?

Good morning Goofs. It is a beautiful day here in Maine and I am feeling back to my old self again!

Suzanne: The Race Ready shirts are a bit snug. I have a medium and it fits me about perfect. More form fitting from what I understand and a lighter fabric than the Alert Shirts. I don't have an Alert Shirt.

Shannon: Welcome back to the exercise world. We have missed you. I hope the move was not too stressful and things are going well.

Helen: Take care of your feet. They are pretty important!!

Angie: WTG with the workouts.

Joanne: Got your PM and will answer you shortly!! The quick answer is yes and it is just DH and I.

Mike: How are the 882s? They still had a bunch yesterday.

Everyone else:

As for me, I had a really great run last night, until the end. My first mile was a 10:11 mpm average and my last was a 10:19 mpm average (there is a reason for that). I am most proud that my middle mile of the 3 was an 8:34 mpm average. :woohoo: I just kept telling myself that I only had 3 miles and I wanted to make it good. So, I am running to my inlaws. I have to run across a bridge, make a left turn and they live maybe 100 feet in on this street but I need to go a little further to get the full 3 in. So, I crank my iPod with "The Final Countdown" and turn on the jets across the bridge, make the turn, sail along almost to the inlaws and all I heard was a quick bark and felt the bite. :scared1: Yep, right in the soft spot. Thankfully a glancing blow. DH heard me scream from his parents house. Totally random attack by the nicest dog in the neighborhood. :sad2: After the bite, the dog went back to the house wagging it's tail happily. I took mine the rest of the 3 miles but that is the reason for the slower last mile. Shock, stoppage, etcetera. Still very happy with the run.

Today is 4-5 miles tempo run. Here's hoping for another good one!! :thumbsup2

HI goofs

55 minutes total time, did some sit ups first and then went for a run outside, 40 minutes and 3.3 miles.

Hve a great wednesday (hump day) all.!

Lynn

Maine half is 9/21/08- Come on ladies!!!

Lisa- great news!

Today- 5 miles in one hour (?). Tread mill and ipod give very different info.

Sorry to hear about the dog attack. Yikes!

I got to the Y kind of late so I tried to go faster than usual. I got only 1.5 mile in, but I got it done in 16:15. Pretty good for me!

Good morning Goofs. Quick check before I head to the beach with my kidlets today. We have our first sun in 2 weeks, no kidding, really...:woohoo: Tomorrow is more rain in the forecast so we are living it up today!

I got in my 4 miles yesterday. I had a cramp in my calf at mile 2.5 and walked to mile 3. I had a 10:55 mpm average but I made the full 4 and that is what really counts. The USATF streching study that I volunteered for (clearly I am in the non-stretching group) is over next Tuesday and I so cannot wait for that day to come and I can pre-run stretch again. My calves have sorely missed it, literally!! As I up my miles in preparation for the Applefest, I realize how important pre-run stretching is!!

Have a great day everyone and I hope you get to do something fun today!!!
