Super Goofs Challenge April Edition

Happy Friday everyone!!

updates:

Wednesday...33 mins/2 mile walk

Thursday...30 mins/1.30 mile treadmill

Good morning Super Goofs. Last chance workout day today. Get those miles/hours in. I am still needing posts from DirtyBunny, Donac, FloridaGirl and lllovell for last week. This week I am missing Escape, SAP1227, lllovell, DirtyBunny, Donac and Florida Girl.

Lynnielou: Congratulations on graduating!! How excited you must be to have completed your goal! Time to set a new one?? I use the Marathoning for Mortals running plans but they also have a book called Running for Mortals that has more manageable beginner plans IMHO. There are a lot of them out there Hal Higdon, Jeff Galloway and countless others. I suggest keep running and do some reading. Congrats again!! :cool1:

Suzanne: You and Beth have got to be the most consistent contributors to this team. You are always out there working hard. I wish I could say the same for myself. I am sporadic at best. You certainly are a high miles contributor to this team!! Good work! :thumbsup2

The photos are up for Great Bay if anyone wants to look. Capstonephoto.com and I am bib #250. My SIL is #955. I am offering this up even with my horrific finishing photo where you can literally see how I feel on my face. Plus I am playing with my Garmin (bad toady). There are some really great ones of my SIL and I though, we really were having fun! :goodvibes

Tomorrow starts a new week and I promise to be more supportive of my team. I had a little bit of LTO I guess, not being totally my fault. I now have 2 clips inside me trying to stop the blood from pumping out. Here's hoping it works. Another wasted day in endoscopy and a lot of gas pain because they could not remove what they pumped in due to the clips and another entire day of not eating. I am down to my goal weight albeit not in the healthiest of ways. Today I am concentrating on my eating. I can walk and bike as long as I don't do anything too strenuous so at least I can get some miles in.

Great job everyone and way to get out there and get er done! You truly are the best team. Your hearts outshine everyone elses!!!

Lisa Sending pixiedust: your way for a speedier recovery. I vote for photo #817---give yourself props for making it through! Either the photgs are omnipresent, or you have great awareness out there, you were smiling in lots of the photos--I think I would be in my own little running world, oblivous to what's going on around me.

You can add 45 minutes of XT--stretch & strengthen for me today. (Should have done it yesterday, but went home to ice instead).

Decided to take a week off from running, but will still cross-train, so actually my miles may go up alittle if I hit the bike!

Maura

Lisa - I hope you recover quickly! You are in recovery mode aren't you? I don't know that I even want to know what a clip is. It all sounds horrbily painful to me. Yikes.

I want to know why I can't look like Katie Holmes at then end of my races. Of course, I don't look like Her at the beginning of my races either so I guess its a stretch. I loved your pictures. You look happy in most of them and they tell a great story.

In Honor of our super consistant athletes Suzanne and Beth, I am going to swim some laps today. Even if it is a supposed Rest day. I am going easy when I swim them though.

Also: Can I count an hour of bowling and 30 minutes of lasar tag with my kids? Perhaps the bowling is a stretch but the lasar tag was a real workout. The little beasties gained up on me.

I am pretty sure that Dave originally stated any "activity" that keeps you moving or any sporting event is counted. I will check on the bowling but the laser tag should definitely count. Erica has her surgery today so Dave will not be on until later.

I thought the Katie Holmes bob made you look good at the end of the race, what are you sayin??? :lmao: :rotfl2: :rotfl: It actually was a lot easier although if you notice, I lost my BondiBand halfway through the race. There was a pretty brisk wind and I was working my behind off most of the way. We did have a good time and I would definitely do this race again. As a matter of fact, my BIL wants to do it next year so I guess we are all headed back with kidlets for the kid races next year! :goodvibes

Maura - I was thinking about you yesterday. I am wondering if the tightness is not sign of an injury. It bothers me that the tightness is not getting any better. I think taking a few days of running sounds like a good idea. I thought the massage suggestion sounded like a good idea too. Just be picky about who gives you the massage.

It might also be time to look for a good Doctor or therapist in your neck of the woods. Not that you should see the Doctor yet, but it never hurts to start finding which doctors treat running like a disease and which ones treat runners.

Good Luck, I hope all you need is a few days rest.

Cecilia

Hi Goofs,

70 minutes for me total time today.

40 minutes c25k, w9w1, distance 2.7 miles
30 minutes "bean" work out

I am having a great time and really enjoy being a part of this team!

Thats rest?!

Ok, what is a bean workout?? I am having fun guessing...

This is a great team isn't it?!

Well the bean workout is exercises done on what is called a "bean". It comes with a DVD, for exercises that focus on different body parts. You can google bean work out and get a hit for it. Bottom line it is an inflatable device with shapes and curves, looking like a bean, to aid in exericising, like a swiss ball sort of thing.

I really enjoy my bean and have found that it really is working and I enjoy the abdominal work out the most from it. DH and I purchased ours at Linen N Things. I think Kohl's has them as well as you can get it on-line.

Thanks for asking. :goodvibes

Fun day today-
Completed a 10K (6.22 miles) for the Nashua Soup Kitchen in 1.07. I was one of the last to finish- people were smoking fast! Met Chad and Kristi there. Nice to be able to put faces to names! Thank you so much Kristi for picking up my Great Bay shirt. There are a couple of local races coming up. Hopefully we will met up again to run/walk them together.
Thanks again!
Joanne

Hi Goofs

75 minutes of exercising total time for me today. No miles to report.

I will be doing c25k, w9w2 tomorrow.

Have a great monday everyone!

Joanne - sorry we didn't hang around to see you start. It started to rain more and we decided to leave after the kids race. I think your time was pretty speedy! But I know what you mean - the one time I did a local 5k, I was last, I think. The small races with all the fast runners are very intimidating to me!

I posted my pics of Great Bay on that thread if anyone is interested.

Everyone check out Kristi's awesome pics from Great Bay, also, on the main thread are some pics of Zack running in the kids race this weekend. Totally cute..and hey who said redheads were going extinct??? Great pictures Kristi, thanks again.

I hope everyone is out there just racking up the miles cuz there is not much buzz on the thread lately??!!! :surfweb: I am missing a lot of mileage posters from this past week. I have the first week in April up on the new and improved spreadsheet and the miles from the second week. I had limited posting time this weekend and got done what I could. I will finish it up tonight. For last week, I am missing posts from the following:
Escape
SAP1227 and Steve
lllovell
DirtyBunny
Donac
Florida Girl

From the week prior, I am missing posts from:
DirtyBunny
Donac
FloridaGirl
lllovell

Anyone who wants to post just monthly, please please let me know so I don't keep hounding for miles/hours. I do like hearing from everyone, how and what they are doing. I think it gives us all encouragement knowing that others are out there working hard too.

Lynnielou: Great job continuing toward your goal.
Beth: Way to boost the speed!
Cecilia: Nice 9 miles!
Joanne: Yay for the 10K, double miles means you were smokin fast too!! I am always back of the pack in local races too. Some of our local HS track teams use them for practice. Last year, there was a HS kid who ran in my hometown 5K at a 6:48 pace. My knees would cry...
Chad: We forgive you for not posting...as long as you were moving!!! lol
Maura: Thanks for the pic vote. I love hamming for the cameras, it gives me something to do to break the boredom that sometimes hits me. I think I am a little ADD or hyperactive or something that involves a short attention span! :upsidedow

HAVE A GREAT DAY GOOFS AND GET OUT THERE AND ENJOY THE DAY!!

Wow Angie, way to shave it down to a 15 minute mile in a hurry!! You rock!!

BTW, how are the pet blisters? Mine are just dark skin patches now and I hope yours are the same. Have you tried any of the sock strategies yet?

Sundays Entry:

Run: 2 miles in 18:02 (not a typo!)
Bike: 5 miles in 10:32
Swim: 6 laps in .....well with rests it took a very long time.

Dh and I worked out at the gym and just did what he calls a "high speed" workout. It was kind of fun until we started swimming laps.

Mondays Entry:

Rest. My kind, not Maura's kind. The most strenuous thing I plan on doing today is folding laundry.
