Super Goofs Challenge April Edition

Cecilia Thanks for the tips. I also agree about the leg crossing thing--it just feels like it will cut off the blood flow to your legs!

Lisa No platitudes about "Oh, don't worry (I would shoot someone if they said that to me), but just keep in mind all the positive vibes being sent out by all your WISHer teammates. And extra hugs to you........:grouphug:

Afternoon Goofs. I am MIA mentally today. My follow up cancer screen is tomorrow. I am fasting and VERY nervous. Fingers crossed everyone.

Angie: You silly, you did 26.2 not 13 for Sunday!! This is VERY important. I don't know about you but my calves still feel like I did 26.2!!

I did 20 minutes of stretching yesterday and am about to do some strength, stretch and abs. Mostly I have been laying around feeling sorry for myself. I was nervous the first time, found out about the precancerous polyp and am now officially scared that it has turned. I know I am healthy but cancer does not care how far or fast I can run. Cecilia, extra hugs from me to you today. Hug me Goofs, I am really scared! :grouphug:

Good vibes your way! Keep us posted, please.

today was 68 minutes total exercising.
38 minutes c25k, w8w2, 2.5 miles. I felt good. 30 minutes was strength training.

Lisa - :grouphug: Sending good thoughts your way.

 :yay:  :yay:  :yay:

I ran 2 days in a row!!!

Tuesday 5 in 54:00. I was running circles in my neighborhood while the kids played with the neighbors so every loop I had to stop and play kickball....

Wednesday 4 in 38:30 Dh kicked me out of bed this morning to get this run in. I am so glad he did, because I really needed this run.

My sisters and I are flying up to see my Dad on May 1. He should be recovered enough from surgeries by then. Dad is extrememly immune conformized(?) so you just can't drop in and see him. The Doctors are extrememly wary of me and my little sister bacause we have school age children. I feel better having a plan.

Cecilia

Your positive thoughts brought me good luck. The first polyp was gone completely with no remainder. Unfortunately, I had another that had grown in just 3 months that had to be biopsied. I have been released to run tomorrow so good news/bad news. Thank you to everyone thinking of me today.

I have everyone up to date to here. I have not done the spreadsheet from last week. I think at this point, I will do it all at once on Saturday for both weeks. There are many who have not reported any miles for last week. I don't have my book but some that I remember are ArelysAdriana, Donac, and DirtyBunny. If any of these members have miles and/or hours for last week, please get them posted or PM me if that is easier. If you are not interested in playing anymore, PM me with that also.

Have a great day Goofs and thanks again for all your positive energy. There is more than inspiraton on these boards, there is true power and love!!

I am so glad to read that everyone is one the road to recovery.

I ventured out to the barn today. I am not supposed to ride until I am pain free but the MD did not state "pain free with out medication". Okay I am now a big fan of flexeral and motrin! I know that if I did not start riding again I would psych myself out and make it that much harder to get going again. I am so proud of myself for getting back into the saddle and not feeling at all scared and/or nervous. The horse I fell off of was new to me so I was so glad to get back to my steady eddie. We rode for 1.5 hours today.

I am going to try running tomorrow. I have a riding lesson in the AM and spin class but I will squeeze a run in just to see how I feel. I am scheduled to run a 10K on Sunday. I am hoping that Kristi and Chad will join me (a belated WISH gathering).

Thank you all for your kind thoughts and healing energy. I had never been so badly hurt while riding. It brings me such joy and happiness I cannot bear to think of a future without horses. I try to protect myself as much as possible but as with life there are many factors that are out of one's control.

Thank you all once again!

Joanne

Lisa - that is good news! My step-grandmother used to get pre-cancerous polyps. She just had to keep a watch on them. Here's some more :goodvibes and :wizard: for more good results.

Cecilia - more good thoughts for your dad as well.

Steve managed to get in 4.1 miles today. 1 1/2 hours (included strength training).

Me - Zilch. I'm trying to catch up on work I put off due to my conference. I'll probably get out tomorrow for a run. It won't be pretty.

Hi

66 minutes of exercise total today, of which 30 minutes was on stationary bike for 6.4 miles. The rest (36 minutes) strength training and abdominal work.

Tomorrow is a run day for me, c25k, w8w3.

Boy have I been slacking! Last week was spring break here and work was insane. I worked over 50 hours last week :faint:

So, here is my miles and time for the past week or 2.

03/26 - 3 miles (I forgot to write down my time this week :()
03/27 - 40 minutes of stretching, 2 hours of skating
03/31 - 3 miles (I also forgot to write down my time this week too :()
04/02 - 3 miles
04/03 - 2 hours of skating
04/05 - 3 miles
04/07 - 30 minutes of stretching, 3 miles in 44:22
04/08 - 20 minutes of stretching
04/09 - 30 minutes of stretching, 3 miles in 46:09

On my off days I'm trying to stretch some because my body just feels SO much better when I do.

I hope everyone is doing well :goodvibes

I am scheduled to run a 10K on Sunday. I am hoping that Kristi and Chad will join me (a belated WISH gathering).
First - :yay: for getting back to riding!

I am pretty sure we will be at the race on Sunday. I am probably not running, not sure about Chad.
But we plan on bringing Zack so he can run the kids race. He has been asking to do a race like us, so...

Joanne: Congratulations on getting back on and riding again. The last time I was thrown was my worst, 50 feet through the air landing on my right butt cheek and then the next thing that hit was the back of my head. I too ended up with a back injury and a concussion. Funny how they recommend a helmet and you still end up with the concussion. I am so glad to hear you are back out there riding again. I have ridden very little since my accident but not because of it. My horse passed away shortly after that, turns out he was sick and we never knew. Anyway, great job riding again, be careful of your head and neck though. I hope you can run this weekend.

I will be in Durham at UNH this Sunday afternoon/evening. Field hockey tournament. Heck of a note to run a race and turn around the next weekend and go right back. At least we know the way now.

I am having some complications from my procedure yesterday. There is a lot of blood involved so I won't gore everyone with the details. I have a call into the doc but anticipate that the site they biopsied is still bleeding and I am going to be going back in to get it cauterized which just means more time down for me. I can still do yoga and weights (light) so it is not a total loss. Thank goodness our miles count for double this week, otherwise, I would really be behind!!

I will update you later. Thanks to ArelysAdriana for giving me the miles/hours missed. I still need miles/hours from HockeyGirl, DirtyBunny, Donac, FloridaGirl and lllovell. Laura, I know you are in a LTO/WTO situation so I will not totally hound you until month end!! I hope everyone is still with us and just not posting right now. I don't mind you just posting month end, just maybe give me a quick shout out so I know that is what you are doing and will stop bugging constantly.

Have a great day Goofs.

Hi Goofs!

Add an hour of rock climbing with the kids to yesterday. Unfortunately it wore me out more than it wore them out. My middle child doesn't climb well so I have to really work with her. The other two are like monkeys so the climbing instructor took them to the intermediate wall for me. I look over and my son is hanging from the ceiling.

Today: I ran with dh: 3 miles in 28:14

Later on the kids and I are going bowling.

Lisa - glad to hear the good news sorry there is another polyp. I hope it is all ok.

Groovygirls - Yeah! Good for you for getting back on. It sounds like you ae on your way to a mental recovery if not completely healed yet physically.

Kristi- That is so cool that Zack wants to race like you! My kids interest only last a couple days at a time. Go Zack!

Wow we are adding up some miles!

Lynnielou- Great job on the crosstraining! You are doing great.

Escape - Just call it a rest day. we all have them - the forced rest day cause you just can't get the run in.

Raenstorm - WOW, you are adding up some big miles! I am glad that someone is keeping up the miles while I seem to be in a slump.

Suzanne - You are so consistant! I am so incredibly impressed with you. I just wish I could get out there and work like that.

Cecilia

Joanne Congrats on riding again and hope you are back to 100% soon.

Lisa Glad the results were positive and hope they fix the remaining problem.

As for me, sigh, I ran 3 miles today in 28:10. Time was great, but (STOP: play the broken record here) still having issues with tightness/fatigued lower outer shins/ankles. Debating whether to take a whole week of from running and see if it makes a difference. Nothing seems to matter (new shoes, running surface, pace, ice). It's playing with my head (as well as my legs). Still have 3-1/2 weeks to go until Minnie, so I've got some time, but haven't gotten in the longest run I would like to do.

Sorry to keep kvetching.....I really thought this would resolve itself by now.

Maura

Thanks for the encouragement. Yesterday was a bad day for me. I ended up getting to 96% heart rate during my run and had to walk. I have no idea what happened. I wasn't pushing harder than usual. My body was just not in the mood. I have been feeling sort of off and sleepy this week, so maybe it is allergies or something. Anyway only got in 5.8 yesterday.

Good afternoon! Update for the last couple days

Time: 2 hours (for Wed and Thurs)
Miles: 11 miles

Beth

Hi Everyone,

Sorry to not post for awhile...I find it very hard to get everything in these days. Things have been pretty hectic!!! Sounds like everyone is doing great with their training, keep up the good work. Here are my numbers for the last two weeks:

Tues. 4/1: 4 miles 42 min
Wed: 4/2: rest
Thursday 4/3: 2 miles 20 min plus 1.5 hours of hockey
Friday 4/4: rest
Saturday 4/5: 1.5 hours of hockey
Sunday 4/6: 8 miles 82 min.
Monday 4/7: rest
Tuesday 4/8: 4 miles 41 min.
Wednesday 4/9: rest
Thursday 4/10: 4 miles 40 min.

That will probably be it for this week, unless I decided to get a hockey workout in tonight. I will try to keep up better, things have just been a little hectic!

Hi

70 minutes total time exercising,
38 minutes was on TM for c25k, w8w3 for 2.7 miles
32 minutes strength training

Next week is my last week of c25k -- I wll have graduated! It is hard to believe it has come so soon and what progress I have made. My goal(s) is to do 3 miles in 30 minutes. Time to step to the next level. I am looking forward to the challenge. Any suggestions out there? I have done some reading and educating myself but any tips or hints are appreciated from all of you here..
