Super Goofs Challenge April Edition

Checking in.....

Wednesday--40 minutes of swimming. Didn't keep track of the distance. The pool was pretty full (at 5: 30 am!) and I am, of course, the slowest one in there. Every so often I would peak at the stroke of the person in the lane next to me. I suppose if I iever decided to do a tri, I would need to figure out how to swim better/faster.
Today--skipped my run in order to rest my legs. So I did 31 minutes on the bike (8.5 miles) and then did 30 minutes of weights.
Tomorrow is a rest day, and I'm still not sure what I'll do for my long run this weekend. I want to rest my shins/ankles, but don't want to go too long without running (cause, of course, I'll regress to 0), but if I run and it's bad, I'll get depressed. Will figure something out.

Donac: I have your March miles from the previous thread. I want to address the issue that you do not feel you are contributing as much as others. First and foremost, we are a team and EVERY contribution counts. Some of us are training for specific races and miles are relevant to that. Others are just "high mileage" people. They are on here for the specific purpose of keeping us in the "challenge" and hopefully to motivate others to strive for their perfection. For me, Beth is so consistent and so high in mileage, I can only wish to be that good. Cecilia is just such an inspiration and to meet her in person is an even greater gift. I hope that I, too, inspire people to reach their goals.

My goal this year is my first marathon. In 2010, it is Goofy. Goofy feels out of reach right now. The marathon feels doable. Last year, I could not imagine myself running 13.1 miles but I did it. The year before that, a 5K seemed way too far. Whether your goal is weight loss, better health or Goofy, your miles and hours count. Remember, games are won/lost by 1 point or, in the case of the miles challenge, 1 mile or 1 minute/second. You matter, everyone matters, we are all part of this team from beginner to triathlete, in sickness and in health (oh wait, that was something else). Everyone is Goofy, just varying degrees!!!!!!!!

Cecilia: I WISH you were going to be there also. I know you will be with me although if I could borrow your legs I could catch everyone faster. I don't see a tracker so you can't even follow my "dot"!! :lmao: Full reports will follow and maybe we can get Kristi to take pics (hint, hint) since she is so good about posting her pics and I can't even manage to get mine off the camera half the time!! :rotfl: I am glad you and your DD are better, it is awful to be sick and worse when it is your child because you end up neglecting yourself.

Chad: I also forgot to say party: CONGRATULATIONS on 5 years clean!! This is SUCH an accomplishment and I am so glad for you, Kristi and all of your family for the cancer-free report. We will have to celebrate somehow...hmmm...Red Hook????:rolleyes1

7.6 miles yesterday, not too shabby. I was way to sore to go to pilates class yesterday morning, so I plan on going tonight, plus my jump roping and walking AND getting the house ready for company this weekend, which includes :laundy: and cleaning the critter cages which I normally do the first weekend of the month, but with company I have to do it during the week. Gonna be a really busy 2 days!

Do we have any bikers on our team? I noticed the Rabbits are really racking up some miles and are planning a biker day to really load 'em up. I dont bike, but it seems like a quick way to add 'em up...

'course we're gonna do some racking up on Sunday, with the Great Bay, we get double for that, right?

Updates/some for March...sorry!

Saturday the 29th...30 mins/6.23 bike

Monday the 31st...45 mins/9.68 bike

Wednesday the 2nd...30 mins/6.25 bike

Good Morning Super Goofs. Last chance workout reminder for this morning. Miles, miles, miles, and hours, hours, hours. The more you work out, the more calories you burn, and the better you feel. Spring, not January, is the time to commit to yourself and your health. :thumbsup2

Angie: I ride my bike, when there is no snow on the ground, unlike this morning...again... I only do it on XT days though and I am not very fast like the Rabbits but I try. SuzanNews on the other hand looks like she is pretty adept with her bike!! I also refuse to ride the bike at the gym, I see it as a sign of weakness, not that it is, but that is the way I view it. Like the old upright bike that my mom used to hang her clothes on, defeated. I hope no one takes that wrong if you have it inside you to ride the bike at the gym. I tried the virtual bike once where you sit and ride through places with the screen in front of you and it made me motion sick. :lmao:

I got outside yesterday in the sun. The wind was blowing a lot harder than I had originally thought. Here in my little corner of the world, we are pretty sheltered and sometimes it is hard to tell. So I struck out for my 30 minute run thinking 3 miles, right..wrong..better. I had a seriously awesome run yesterday. I did 3.1 miles in 29:34!! This is a first for me at that distance. :woohoo: I do not run 9:30ish consistently. I usually check my Garmin constantly and I did not until the halfway point. I was shocked at my time and even walked a minute to make sure it was working right. My last 3/4 mile was into the 35 mph wind gusts so I was really overall VERY happy with this run. Look out Great Bay walkers, I'm stalking you from behind.

My SIL is still a little sick. She has lost 6 pounds and is trying to replete. She is pretty worried about 13.1 miles and asked that I stay with her. First of all, did I mention I do not run 9:30 consistently and 13.1 miles of it may kill me but, here is my plan. I am going to run with her to the end, have the chip cut off and then turn around and find everyone. SIL says I am crazy..I say I am okay with that!! :dance3:

Good luck Lisa, Chad, Kristi, Angie at Great Bay.
Rest day today for me--still debating on my run tomorrow. DH suggests going out to a rail trail--less stress on the legs. I thiink I will.
Sunday I'm a course marshall for the Martian Marathon--several WISHers there, so I hope to meet some.

Have a great day!

Maura

Only got in 3.73 miles yesterday. It was cold and rainy and I had tons of stuff to do after work (having house guests this weekend). I didn't even jump rope! bad me, bad me!

Thursday 4/3

5 miles 47:00

This probably the last run I'll get in before Great Bay

Hey guys! I hope everyone is having a great April so far. We had our final crazy week for now this week, but I have been getting in my exercise. It was Spring Break for most schools around here, so I have worked a TON, but it is NOT Spring Break for our homeschooling--sooo we also did that all week. I am BEAT!!

Here are my totals for the week

Saturday--2 miles in 22:42 (this was a "real race")

Monday--6 miles on the bike in 36:23

Thursday--2.42 miles in 28:37

Steve

Monday 60 mins of weight lifting

Wednesday 60 mins of weight lifting

Friday 60 mins of weight lifting

Hi everyone,
yesteday (thurs) was a rest day for me.

Total time total 66 minutes today, c25k w7w3, 2.4 miles for 35 minutes; the rest, 31 minutes was spent on on strength training and exercising.

Plan on exercising more this weekend, who knows, it may be warm enough to try and run outside on Sunday.

Have a great weekend everyone.

Mornin, morning my Goofs!! I am cleaning up and final packing for our trek to Durham today. We will be at the expo some time this afternoon to pick up our packets in case anyone else is going to be there. Call me so I don't miss anyone!! I am VERY excited!!! So is my SIL!!! :hyper: :hyper2: This is going to be a blast!!!

I did not have a lot of time after all my afternoon errands yesterday so I stopped at my mom's apartment and popped in one of her Leslie Sansone tapes. I did 3 miles in 45 minutes and then 20 minutes of ab work at home in the evening. It is cold, wet, snowy and rainy here. Hoping for better weather tomorrow.

Everyone is up to date to here. I will not be updating the spreadsheet until Monday sometime so you have plenty of time to get miles/hours in.

SUPER GOOFS ROCK GREAT BAY!!!

...did I mention I was excited???:rolleyes1

Sorry guys. I have really slacked off this week.

Friday 3 miles -28:02
Saturday 4 miles - 37:54

We got some more bad news about my Dad and it just really hit me hard. I am trying not to let the kids see how upset I am but I don't think its working. I just don't feel like doing anything. Even getting dressed seems like work. It will pass once I accept everything but its taking time to process. Does that make any sense?

Man I was planning to crank up the miles in preparation for CMM. I will do better next week, I promise.

Cecilia

Cecilia So sorry about your dad. Not that it's any of my business, but letting your kids see your emotion and understand why is a pretty powerful life lesson, IMHO. No one should have to hide those feelings.

And you are hereby given orders to stop neurosing about your mileage. Besides, our SuperGoofs are racking up the race miles.

I did 10k today--not the race I was planning, but 10k on a rail trail (DH suggestion to give my legs a rest) I finished (left my watch home) Think it was around 61 min. Not happy, getting bummed about my seeming regression here. At least only one shin/ankle felt tight, and it felt ok about 2/3 of the way in. Came home and iced.

Tomorrow I course marshall the Martian Marathon. Got a chance to meet 3 Wishers today--Carrie (wtpclc), DH Scott, and MArgie (funwalker), so that was nice.
