Here it is Goofs, the final thread of this challenge. We have all worked very hard this year and it shows in the tally. You all rock and are the greatest team IMHO.

""The more I run, the more certain I am that I am heading for my real goal: to become the person that I am."~George Sheehan

"Courage is not the absence of fear, but simply moving on with dignity despite fear."~Pat Riley

As you move forward in your training, I hope you keep the Goofs near and dear to you. I have made some lifetime friends on this team and have had some experiences that I will never forget. I would like to thank each and every one of the faithful Goofs and even those former Goofs for all they have brought to me, taught to me and continue to show me daily. There is no doubt in my mind that this team has more heart than any other!!!!

Morning all...

Want to hear my blond moment (no offense to blonds, I really am one...)? I can confess this to you guys, 'cause though you may laugh at me, you'll understand!

I've been training outside whenever possible, because I really struggle on my treadmill...I couldnt understand why I could go longer and faster outside, but have such a hard time inside...well, I now know the reason. I have had my treadmill set on 100% incline, instead of 0%, the whole time. For some reason, I thought "down" reduced it and "up" increased it (that makes sense, right, down the hill, up the hill??), but in reality, it's the other way. So every time I'd use it, I'd push the down until it stopped (DH & DS use it too) and assumed I had it flat. Sometimes, when I felt ambitious, I would hit the "up" a little, to see if I could do an incline, and I could...but really I was making it easier, not harder...I feel like such a dork!

Oh well, live and learn, I dont hate the treadmill as much anymore!

Hey there Super Goofs!! I can't believe that we are already to December...YIKES!!! :scared1: This year has really flown by for me, and the next couple of months are going to be jam packed also! First, I want to echo what Lisa said about this team...you are all awesome!!!! I know I wasn't always around all year, but you were all motivation to me to get those workouts in. It has been fun watching everyone's training, depsite the ups and downs, this year! I can't wait to meet some of you in January.

As for my workout today, I woke up to snow here in NJ...ugh!!! I checked the radar to see if there was any hope of getting my run in outdoors today, and it just wasn't going to happen. I would have loved to run outdoors in the rain if it was warmer, but I just got over a cold, and I just couldn't fathom doing 16 miles outside in the freezing rain. So, I sucked it up and headed to the gym for 16 miles on the treadmill. Yes, you read that right..16 MILES!! All I have to say is BORING!!! Luckily, they have TV's on each TM at the gym, and I was able to watch TV, although there wasn't really a whole lot on, but I was able to find something.

I decided to do a run/walk interval because I seem to be able to do much better than just running. So, I stuck to a 1/4 mile jog at 10 mpm, and then 1/4 mile walking at 13:00 mpm...giving me about an 11:30 pace. This is actually a bit faster than I have been running, so I am pretty excited about my run today, despite being stuck on the TM. Here are the official numbers:

16 miles/ 3 hours, 5 min
10 min stretching

I actually feel pretty good right now, we shall see how I feel tomorrow, but this is the best I have ever felt after a LR over 12 miles, so hopefully that is a good sign!

Hope everyone had a great holiday weekend!!!!

Laurie WTG on the 13 miles. Great pace, too!

I did 6-7 today in about 70 minutes. Let's just say the first 3 miles were okay (windy out and I labored breathing-wise). Next 2 were tougher. After that, I just did run/walk. Cut it short (was aiming for 9) and went home. Fortunately, I see the doc tomorrow although what the heck else he can suggest I don't know.

And tomorrow I turn the big 5-0! Chocoalte is the order of the day.

Maura

1 hour spin class today and rode for 2 hours (did a local show- came in 5th. At least the ribbon was a nice pink!)

My knee still won't let me run. I am so frustrated. PT is over and the weather is cold. I cannot even walk any type of distance. I suck!

Off to the personal torturer, I mean trainer, tomorrow.

FYI to the star gazers- Mars, Venus, and the moon are supposed to be in a triangle formation tomorrow night. This will be the first time EVER this has occurred! Hopefully it won't be too cloudy to see.

Happy birthday (tomorrow), Maura!

Joanne, congrats on placing in the show. Sending some healing pixie dust for your knee.

We did 7 miles on Saturday -- in the rain (ugh). It took about 97 minutes, give or take.

I start my princess half training tomorrow!!!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY MAURA!!!

Joanne...congrats on the pink ribbon! Hope the doctor is able to help with your knee.

Megan...good luck on your first day of training!

ksoehrlein...it rained here all day today also, yuck. Any distance in the rain is awesome.

Laurie...thank goodness no snow here today, I think the whole state of Florida would shut down. The castle covered in real snow would be a nice picture though.

Angie...I think we've all had our share of blond moments or brunette moments. My treadmill isn't high tech enough to have the up and down buttons or I would be playing around with them too!!

Lisa...thanks for being our fearless leader this year. I too feel like I have made some friends for life.

Sunday update...30 mins bike/6.13 miles

Happy Monday everyone!!!

Good Monday morning Goofs. Happy first of December!!!!!!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY MAURA!!! You share a birthday with LynnG, just so you know you have someone to celebrate with today!! :cake:

Joanne, have you tried a knee brace? I am not a big proponent of them but they do help. LynnG just got braces and she is amazed at how they have helped her!!

Great job on the weekend training everyone. If I get time today, during my break and lunch, I am going to update the spreadsheet with as far as I have gotten today. Yay!!!! I actually sat down and added everything up and got all the totals up to date yesterday......:scared: Wow am I behind.....

From the Frozen North....it is raining, sleeting, snowing and blowing. Yucky traveling and yucky weather today. Hopefully it is supposed to clear by afternoon. It is obviously a gym day for me today. In other news, I ran yesterday. Only 3 miles as I was under time constraints but the good news is that I can still easily maintain a 10:30 mpm pace. Yay! I have decided to do the full in Nashville in 2009, the Beach to Beacon 10K and the VA Beach HM. I have finally remembered that this running thing is about me...all about me...well and you guys too...:flower3: Rock on Goofs!!!!

Hi Goofs!

Ah reality check! I am back from the magical WDW. We had a grreat time even with the crowds. It was a little nerve wracking to see all the spots I am going to run in January knowing I have been majorly slacking on my training the past two weeks.

Lets see, I got two runs in last week for a grand total of 12 miles in 2 hours.

then Yesterday I ran 7 in 1:12 and today I ran 6 in 1:01

Lisa - I don't know when the new month started so I will let you put them where they need to go.

Today I am repacking for Baltimore. And putting away our fall/thanksgiving decorations and getting out some of the Christmas. Sometime between now and Wednesday I need to write out what I am going to say at my Dad's memorial.

I will be back and back to normal (well normal for me) sometime on Friday.

Take care All!

Update: Spreadsheet is completely up to date. Please check the mileage calculations. The last week of October has been added to the first week of November as I was a little off kilter (just to inject some WDW humor into it).

We are maintaining 4th place in the miles calculations and 5th place in minutes. Come on Goofs, I know we can do this. Let's all ramp it up!!!!!!:cheer2:

I think that we are in pretty good shape Super Goofs! Way to go! Let's finish December strong! I added on 10 extra minutes today, to give my numbers a boost.

Monday total:

Time: 70 min
Miles: 7.5 (elliptical work)

Beth

Monday update...30 mins bike/5.98 miles

My goal for December is to add 10 mins per workout to up our numbers, anyone else?

Monday-
1.5 hours riding
3 miles on the elipitical (1/2 hour)
1/2 hour with torturer

I am going to spend more time in the gym to get some time in!

Thanks everyone for the birthday wishes. I spent the day walking the dog, visitng the doc (who prescribed PT for my ITB), eating lunch at a little taco place I wanted to try, buying myself chocolate at a local Chocolaterie, Buying new running shoes, watching 3 missed episodes of Heroes (only 2 left to catch up!) and baking an apple pie. Actually, it was very relaxing.

Today I did 40 minutes of stairmaster and elliptical and 10 of stretch. Now back to the grind. Only 9 work days left this year!

Maura

He who first said "Ignorance is bliss" must have had training schedules in mind. I knew I had one week where I had two 4-mile runs scheduled but didn't realize it was THIS week until the minute before I headed out to the gym. So 4 miles in 50:30

Morning all, I thought I posted already but I must be losing my mind!!!

Angie, you are all set doll. I have a hard time when I get out too far on the spreadsheet lining things up. Or maybe I am just losing my mind!!

Kim, sounds like you are losing yours too. Welcome to the club!!

Maura, sounds like you had a great birthday. Did you forget anything???

Suzanne, great idea adding 10 minutes to the routine. I love it!! You must have found my mind!!

Joanne, great work and I forgot congrats on the ribbon. Any color is a good one!!

Everyone else, I know you are all out there working hard and just not posting your miles right.....

As for me, it is sunny and beautiful today and I am headed out on my bike soon. Not many more days of this. Tomorrow we are back in the deep freeze again so I have to take advantage of the sun and 40 degree temps. I did get 3 quick miles in on the TM last night and a little bit of yoga with my son (laugh insert here). Try yoga with a 7 year old boy sometime, it is pretty funny.

Sorry for the quickie post, I really did think I posted earlier. I have a half-hour left of work so I need to get something done. Have a great day everyone!!!!!
