I see where my precious Goofs have disbanded. Say it isn't so...:sad2:

If anyone is interested in rejoining and restarting, I am willing to jump back in. I can't come on very often but I hate to see the team die out.

Anyone????????? popcorn::

Hey Joanne!

I am actually back in school 3/4 time in the nursing program, along with working full time and chasing my kids still. Shelby is 17 and driving now. David is 10 and a complete handful. Shelby plays softball for an elite team out of Portland and I spend most of my summer on the road in New England. David is my basketball and soccer player.

I just ran the inaugural relay with the sweetest lady from Ohio and am all in for the 20th anniversary full in January. My race time has been cut severely due to travel but I am still running, lifting and chasing my dream of becoming a wellness coach.

How about you???

If we get a roster together, I will start the January thread...

I'm in too! I was out of the picture for a good portion of last year due to moving out of state and all the fun chaos that goes into that. I ended up having to back out of the Chicago marathon because of it. But we've been settled in our new house for about 3 months now, and I'm running the Princess half next month...my first race since last May. I'd like to enter several more races in the next year (including Goofy for 2013) so I'd love to get the band back together! :goodvibes

~Nicky

I'm still here, and still running. I just went quiet the last part of the year - did little more than my daily minimum from October through early Dec, and when added to the chaos of Cub Scouts, a Disney trip, the holidays, etc - I just did not post as much.

I don't have much planned for this year. Too many of my races conflict with family obligations, and those races will be there next year. I'm still hoping to find an ultra later this year that I can do - my normal spring ultra fell pray to one of the family conflicts.

ETA - tonight was daily run #1250.

So where is Suzanne???????????????? :magnify:

For those of you who have never met me, or for those of you who have forgotten (though I am not really sure HOW that would ever happen), I am a mom of 2 very active kids from Maine. I love it here and I wouldn't trade the 4 seasons for anything in the world. I run, I race ski, I am a P90x addict and I am a certified fitness trainer. I work full time and am enrolled in classes 3/4 time working toward earning my RN ADN in order to become a wellness coach. I love being fit, and being an example to my kids and other people as well.

My DD is 17 and plays softball for an elite team out of Portland, ME. She is an exceptional softball player and that isn't just me talking, it is the D1 schools who are hot on her heels. She is a junior in high school this year, sitting back and waiting to hear who is the high bidder. It's very exciting to be a part of. She tries my patience as she is an over the top independent young woman but I have enjoyed every part of the ride watching her grow into the person she is.

My DS is 10 and was born on 9/11/01. He is a very special gift and we cherish him daily. He is a typical boy, all boy through and through. He works with his dad, driving excavators, bulldozers and loaders. He is very accomplished with this as well as playing basketball and soccer. He wants to play football this year which makes me cringe but I am all for trying it all before you choose.

My DH is self-employed and a workaholic. He does not run, exercise or any other form of being healthy. He does eat right because I make him and he mostly supports me in my bad habits from a distance. He does not travel with me after my near death experience in Nashville when I almost passed out from heat exhaustion on mile 23 in the 88 degree heat of April. After that, he decided it was too hard for him to wait and wait and so he just tracks me via my DD and her iPhone.

So that's me in a nutshell. Actually, I am the nut in the shell. I don't have many races planned for this year as I travel all summer with my daughter and son for sports. I am hoping to catch the Maine half marathon in September and that will set me up nicely for the WDW full in 2013. My friend twoWDWfools is trying to talk me into a triathlon. :rolleyes1 It is on the bucket list.

So, how about catching me up on those that I know and introducing me to those that I don't. I will be needing help with starting new threads off and on as I have a lot on my plate so we will all have to work together on this. I don't want this to just be about running or walking, I would like to see the frustrations with not being able to workout and just life in general. Support is a wonderful thing!!!!!!!:grouphug:

I'm still here. I think Suzanne (and even me, too) figured that the Goofs had run its course. Seems like people keep track of one another on Facebook, and the Goofs seemd to tail off.

Lisa Good to "see" you again. Sorry I didn't get to meet you live in WDW. I also did the relay this year. I didn't realize you were friends with Liz. Did you make it to any of the meets?

Nicky I am als entertaining the thought of Goofy next year--usually when I'm sitting on the couch and am comfy & cozy. When I'm out on the road chugging along, I usually talk myself out of it!

Joanne Even though it was "fly-by" it was nice to see you on Marathon Sunday. Maybe next time we can actually chat!

Rich Hope you can find something this year that fits with your busy life.

As for me....I guess I am what you call "retired". I am a complete slacker compared to, say, Lisa (although I have been there, done that). Currently, I am gearing up for tax season as a Volunteer tax preparer for low income filers in Detroit. I am doing a training plan for a half marathon, although I have no firm race in mind--I just need a plan. My DD--now graduated college and gainfully employed--is looking to start her post-college racing career, so we may do a race together at some point (meaning the same race---she is fast, Division 3 All-American X-country fast)

I applied to run NY Marathon this year via guaranteed entry. I haven't heard back yet. though. Hoping there's no issue with the race I submitted.

Anyway, that's it for me. Now I need to chill after watching a less-than-stellar Pats team beat the Ravens. A real nail-biter!

Maura

I was at the WISH meet Maura. I didn't interact much since no one remembered me.

Liz and I are good friends. Patrick and I run together except I ditched him for the relay. And I paid for it by blowing my calf. Lesson learned. I will be sticking with my voice of reason from now on.

If the Goofs have disbanded that's fine. I was just trying to rally the troops and help out. I sure don't want to step on any toes!

LisaNo toe-stepping at all! It's good to have a place to check in that isn't necessarily tied to a (Disney) race. And I would definitely have remembered you! There are times when "WISHers past" pop into my head.

So my lovely 9.6 mile run yesterday (supposed to be 9, but I miscalculated my route) left me with some kind of "pulled groin" as a Pats trainer would say. Better take it easy today. Plus, it's National Pie Day. That might be a good thing to work on! (Plus, I plan to go for the next level in tax certification, so I need to take that test)

Maura

Maura:Nice work on the run but boo on the groin pull. I feel your pain, literally, although lower in my calf

I went for a skate ski yesterday. I was about to finish up my runs due to really feeling it in my calf when a group showed up invited by my MIL and I was pulled into teaching/coaching instead of icing. :rolleyes1 I skied for an extra 1.5 hours which didn't translate into many miles but into more calf pain as I had to help people up hills who did not get the hang of v-ing out their skis. Pushing someone your size or slightly larger up a steep hill is zero fun. I also got taken out by my own dog who was way too excited there were other peeps to play with.

So today I will be resting. Doing a little P90x warrior workout just to stay with it. No plyos or running in place, just the core, chest and leg moves. I have to heal this calf before I can risk running again. And I have also relapsed into my "sexy" voice where I have to force it out. :upsidedow

I've missed the Goofs! I'm more of a lurker than a 'post-er' but I enjoyed following this thread. Hoping this stays active.

I finished my first Disney marathon in 2012 and can't wait to do another. It was truly awesome. The best race ever. I could go on and on but you all know how great an event it was! After watching me finish, my husband and soon to be 18 year old daughter want to do the half next year. We'll see if they can stick through training for it. I don't have any real plans yet for 2012, but would like to try for a sub 2 hr half so have to plan for that one maybe in early fall and someplace flat. LOL

Glad to see you all back

Lisa - Thanks for reviving us. I'm not a Facebook person, so I really missed everyone's posts.

Maura - sounds like your back has healed enough for some good training!

Rich - You are an inpiration with your numbers!

Yeah for the Goofs return in 2012!!

Jeanne

And then there were 7!! :woohoo:

Jeanne: Please don't be a lurker. We all WANT to hear the good the bad and the ugly that happens. Everyone is here for support.

YAY Angie is back!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Long time no see!!:yay:

Can I get back in too? I think I posted a grand total of 5 times in the last thread.

I did run the Goofy this year and have started to build out a race calendar. So far these are the races I'd like to do although I'll have to decide between Roanoke Rapids and Charlotte half. I'm hoping Medoc and Myrtle are on different weekends as I really like the Myrtle Half but I've heard Medoc is an incredible race and I think training for a trail full would put me in much better cardio shape for Goofy next year.

Miles for Missions 5k
roanoke Rapids 1/2 March 10th
Shamrock 8K March 17
Charlotte Half March 25th
Flying Pirate 1/2 April 20th
Expedition Everest May 5th
Rock and Roll VA Sept 4th
Pink 10K Late september
Medoc Mountain Full Mid october
Myrtle Beach Mini Oct 21
City of Oaks Nov 6th
Christmas Town 8k Early December

Anybody else looking at any of these races?

Sorry for the late reply- busy with the girls'activities this weekend but still snuck in a 90 minute spin class and a 60 minute kettle bell class on Saturday.

It was a really tough year for me. I was diagnosed with breast cancer in July - zero risk factors other than being female. I had a bilateral mastectomy in September ( yes they are fake but my real ones tried to kill me) I have stage ll breast cancer and chemo is not going to work. I am not a candidate for radiation either. My prognosis is excellent but I will forever be waiting for the other shoe to drop AKA reoccurrence

I signed up for goofy before I got sick so I figured I will go and try and if the bus sweeps me up then so be it

My niece and I did the first half together and had a total blast! For the marathon I rope my very sedentary sister into doing the relay with my niece
(She was half goofy because she is not old enough or the full). My sister "agreed" to do the relay 10 weeks before race day! Okay I will admit I pulled the cancer card but I was hoping to get her off the couch! She actually beat my niece's time for the half marathon which stung her a little bit!

Because of my surgery I am not supposed to run so of course I did a goofy!

That's awesome ( the doing goofy part, not the cancer part). My wife is a BC survivor too and she ran her first half this year at Disney. I am trying to talk her into doing the princess next year with her friends as a girls trip.

Lisa - I'll do the best I can with my posts, This time of year is hard 'running' wise for me, I am the costume person for our local HS's musical and between that and working I have little time for myself. I'm lucky if I can get in 10 miles a week:rolleyes1. But I love doing the costumes and helping with the musical so its a good trade off.

This year we are doing 'Beauty and the Beast' so i get my Disney fix along with the musical fix. And my daughter is playing Belle so its an even better year. :cool1:

I have yet to decide on some races for this year. Not sure if I'm going to do another marathon in the fall or try to get to Disney for the 20th Anniversary of the Marathon. :smickey:(that's really what I want to do, but it's expensive and our daughter is headed off to college in the fall so it might not be affordable for us this year).

Anyone have any suggestions for a half in late spring or early fall in the North East somewhere?? I have to get a race on my calendar soon or I'll lose my motivation to keep up my miles.

My DD and I are going to do either a Warrior Dash or a Spartan Dash in the summer for fun. (I think I might regret it though!)

OMG Joanne, I had no idea. I am so, so proud of you and the attitude you are taking toward the cancer though. You are one tough cookie!!!! Congrats on Goofy. I wish I had known you were down there, I would have definitely liked to have seen you again.

Miles or no miles, I want EVERYONE to post on the thread. It isn't about miles, it is about being and doing. We all have successes and failures and they are what they are on a given day. I cannot run much this time of year as I am in the snowy way north and the roads are a pain. Literally as that's how I hurt my calf...:rolleyes1

Ryan, welcome back!

Today was school for me. Microbiology. :teacher: I had a test and I think I did okay on it. I know I messed up some matching but otherwise it was all good. I have one other online course that I need to get my rear in gear for. Online courses are tough as no one tells you what to do and when to do it. One more hepatitis shot and a couple titers and I should know whether I made the cut for the fall nursing program or not. If not, I am looking to Appalachian State for their Health Promotion program.

So has anyone made any New Year's resolutions they would like to be held accountable for? Mine was to eat better and train properly for the marathon. I have a really bad habit of not training because I put in higher miles every week so I think for some crazy reason that I will be okay. :sad2:

 Since I have no idea what team I used to be on, can I come play here? I know most of you and this way I can also keep an eye on Lisa and what she is trying to blame me for next. :rotfl: (Ok the tri is my idea)
