Super Cheap Flights Frontier & Southwest!!

Good advice Dis'ers! You cannot believe that I found such a great fare..but it didn't change to 3 travelers..only one. So when i went to check out..went back and the price DOUBLED!! UGH..she said that there was likely only one seat at that price...still working on it :) Also Frontier didn't have the same fares as SW

Hey neighbor! I work in Greenwood Village and live in South Denver. :wave2:

SW is great that you can book one way with no penalty or extra fees. I booked my flight down on 11/2 and now I"m waiting for the rest of the schedule to be released....hopefully in a couple of weeks.

Hi Neighbor!! We really are neighbors :flower3:

OK so here's the update...WOW what a roller coaster! First of all..thanks to the OP who just saved me (a single mother of 2 boys) almost $700!!! More than half off the fares I've seen!!! :cool1::worship:

So..as I was booking I picked the cheapest flights I could find in the afternoon 3 days before we are actually returning. I went back to look at the flights to double check I had the right ones (very frustrating they don't put the flight details on the final payment page) and the payment went up $70! LUCKILY..I used the back page instead of previous and it took me to my original flights. Needless to say, I booked immediately!

Here's the kicker... :rolleyes2
Our family friend is coming with us but purchasing her own ticket. I purchased our 3 tickets for...drumroll please...$670.40! I called her to tell her and book her ticket, and the return fare ALREADY went up $100 on the SAME flight! :crazy2:

I'm going to keep checking to see what we can work out to get her the same price! This is the cheapest airfare I've seen to MCO in YEARS!!! Thanks DIS and OP!! :worship:

Thanks Jill..I am SO totally stoked that we were able to get such a great deal! I was able to get our family friend her ticket for the same price. Since we need to change the departure anyway, I picked a different flight comparable to ours. :thumbsup2

The SWA rep told me they are going to open up the calendar on June 4, so I'm going to be watching like a hawk. From my experience I've seen that the fares are pretty cheap right when they open the booking window.

I REALLY do love SWA's policies regarding changing travel with no fees and no fees for luggage. Can't go wrong! So excited!!! pixiedust:

I just booked for October for $253 pp rt, however, retailmenot.com had a code for "choice" to be entered under promo codes, and I saved an additional 15% off...

What airline? I tried SW and it did not work, nor does Retailmenot have it as a code for SW.

edit - nvm I found it is for Frontier. The code would save us $40 on the shown price but we will have bags that will eat up the savings so I am sticking with SW. But it is a great code if you don't see a better deal!

Hi all you DEN-->MCO travelers!

Well today SWA released their travel calendar to Jan 2013. I have to say my initial observation of flights being cheap when first released was waaaaaay off! They are as high now or higher then the highest I've seen :scared1:

I'm DEFINITELY waiting for their anniversary sale later this month..hoping to change our tickets to exactly what we want, use a discount code and get cheap fares :cloud9:

Yes, they are still too high! Hoping for a good sale!

Still $400 per person round trip, I am hoping prices go down because that is too much for us to spend for 6 people!

Don't forget Colorado friends that My Coke Rewards has a $20 SW reward right now for 100 points. I redeemed for 1 code and booked 7 tickets and it took the $20 off every ticket so we got roundtrip tickets for $198.10 per person!!!!:cool1:

Just wanted to post that SWA started a Fall travel sale for the next 72 hours. I found pretty great rates on better flights so I'm SUPER excited!!

I actually paid a bit more ($17) per ticket for the EXACT flights I wanted..AND...so excited about this...added 2 more days in WDW!!!! The additional 2 nights were only $128 more than my original price, and I saved close to $700 on airfare..so I am SO EXCITED!!!

I'm sure I could keep prowling SWA website for the absolute lowest fares, and maybe they could go lower, but bottom line for me is..I got a GREAT rate, have non-stop tickets both ways, perfect flight times and I got 2 extra days out of the deal...I couldn't be happier with what I got..AND not to be prowling SWA deals anymore..lol. Now on to Orbitz for our rental car reduced rates.. :lmao:

I went hoping to beat the prices I got when I started this thread but fares have actually gone up :confused3 Our flight times are pretty perfect so no changes for us.

I noticed that the majority of fares went up as well except for the ones that we were looking at...I feel like I'm charmed this month for some reason :goodvibes

I used mycokerewards $20 coupon but only the outbound flight was eligible, so many of the higher fares weren't even eligible for the coupon..odd.

I'm really just glad I don't have to shop anymore :lmao:

I'm really happy for you! Of course I want to come home on Sunday which is not on sale and still $249 one way. I can't miss Big Bad Voodoo Daddy though. :)

Frontier frequently has pretty cheap flights out of Denver-couple of summers ago i went to Austin for 120 round trip before my husband left from ft hood to go to iraq. Right now they also have super cheap flights out of Colorado Springs to some location-so a tip for other Colorado travelers-it can sometimes be cheaper to fly from *** especially if you are going to Dallas or points east and south or to a destination Frontier flys to none stop from here-you do not gain anything if the flight has a stop in Denver-but its cheaper to park here and the airport is easy to navigate.
To the post who was asking about Pikes Peak-apparently it has been some time since Jill was here :) You would need to allow a full day but its worth it. Its about an hour and a half from DIA to manitou springs-then you either have to take the cog rail up-expensive but perhaps worth while if you are not accustomed to mountain driving or drive up. It is paved all the way to the summit as of about 5 years ago but its still a slow drive so you need a couple of hours driving plus time to spend at the top. those are also issues you will face going up Mount Evans-ive done both and both are beautiful. Being from Missouri be aware of the symptoms of alititude sickness, take it slow if you feel ill-people freaquently think they have stomach flu or food poisioning and drink lots of water.

Thanks for the heads up. I am worried about that. We went to Yosemite one year and my wife didn't feel well the next day when we were in Anaheim. We had hiked and climbed up a few trails there. We would be flying out the next day to LA and don't want to ruin our main part of the vacation. I'm not sure what to do now.

I checked our flights this morning. Our outgoing was $29 higher and our return flight was $30 higher than what we paid. So, we didn't make any changes. My mom, OTOH, flying out of Houston got her flights much less on this sale than what she had paid. Wonder why Denver didn't have much in this sale??

It's better for us on Southwest than it was but it's still at about $370 rt per person. I would like to do better but I don't know....

Isn't that amazing how high flights are from such a short distance, really?

I used to live in Plano so really just waving at ya ;) Hope your flights come down in price!!
