Super bummed about Typhoon !! Help !

Hi coffeelover,
Don't want to get up any hopes for you or Elisa, but I'm only going by the news report I received from the allearsnet sight. I normally check park hours here (but the month of Dec is not posted yet....maybe on Oct 1 they'll go up ?)
Our own Pete Werner's site (DIS) : http://www.wdwinfo.com/wdwinfo/hours.htm

and also disney's main sight :

Honestly, it's usually BB that is open in Dec, but I only question it based on the allearsnet info I saw today.
Time will tell..... :hourglass

Trying this again. Doesn't seem to have taken the first reply.

Is Typhoon Lagoon closed for the entire month of December?

I know that Typhoon Lagoon was closed during Feb. this year (refurb & construction - longer than usual)...it's my understanding that one of the two WP's are always open.

It doesn't appear to be coffeelover...at least not from what I just read on allearsnet. But Elisa had a source that stated it would be closed. I'm not sure where Elisa heard this---maybe she can share with us. Not saying she's wrong, but rather that what I'm seeing, TL will be open in Dec. I'm not sure which source is right.

The last time we went to WDW during the month of Dec was way back in 1998. We actually stayed 2 weeks straight that trip (Nov 28-Dec 11). TL was not open that year during Dec. But wdw may have switched the rehab schedules. I always thought it was kind of neat to have BB open during Dec because of it's winter theme for the holidays. I got a lot of cute pics of my kids with the snowpeople at BB for our holiday cards. I'm anticipating Dec hours of operation should be posted in the next week or two hopefully.

I was possitive that I read it on a couple different sights and I tried like mad to find it again today with no luck . There's still a lot of stuff about 2004 refurbishments and maybe that's what I was looking at . :badpc: So to make a long story short...I CALLED Typhoon Laggon Guest servises at 407-560-6296 and they said it Wouldn't be closing until Christmas day. So it will be Open during my trip Dec11th-21st. I'm not Super Bummed anymore :cool1: My apologies to all those I made panic. Thanks again MiaSRN62
Elisa :wave2:

Thanks for making the call to Typhoon Lagoon. I wanted to do that but didn't want to make the call from work. I'm excited it will be open.

I booked DH surfing lessons at TL on Dec 16. When I asked about rehab the CM also mentioned it not closing until the end of the month. BUT someone else on the boards said they were not allowed to book it at all the same week due to rehab. I'm still not holding my breath, if they get cancelled they get cancelled. But, this makes me feel better to see that someone called and got the same info I did! :flower:

Wow, reading this back and forth stuff had me worried..I don't care which one is open, as I wouldn't be able to choose. Just glad that ONE is open. I like /dislike things about both parks. I think that BB has a better kiddie slide area, but my kids also love the squirt guns at TL. BB has the ski lift and the "ice cube" walk, TL has the shark pond. BB has more variety of slides/chutes, but it is so spread out, it is difficult to figure out how to get to certain slides. I don't think it would be a disappointment to be "stuck" with only one choice, it would be a lot easier for me. I am surprised that they would close one on Christmas day, the beginning of the busiest part of the year. :confused3

My DS7 and DS5 can use a snorkel. I can't remember if the vests are actually floatation vests or not. If they are, do you think they will let both DS's go in, even if they can't swim (DS5) without it, or in DS7's case, can swim a little bit, not really well? I remember that the CM's stressed NO SPLASHING..so we may have to practice not splashing when we swim beforehand....

disney queen,
I just did the shark swim last month at TL. The vests are now optional---we all chose to wear them. They do make you float so I think your ds's would do fine as long as they are ok with a mask. But keep in mind, they don't provide snorkels anymore---which really suprised me. So you have to keep raising your face out of the water to breathe. Wonder if you could bring your own snorkels in ?
