I won a Skyauction last week for the Sunterra Polynesian Isles 2Br for a total of $222(includes all taxes) I was excited but a little nervous because we have always stayed on Disney property every year. We thought we would save a little(a lot actually) money this year and try Skyauction. Can anyone tell me a little about this resort. We have a rental car so transportation won't be a problem.

Is it walking distance to any shops or restaurants?
I have 2 little kids, will there be anything for them there to enjoy? One of mine is still in a crib, are they available for free or is there a fee?
Is there a pool bar or a snack bar?
I thought I read somewhere on here that the tub is a jacuzzi/whirlpool tub is that true? They don't list it on the Sunterra site.
Will they ask us to do a timeshare presentation? I hope not but what do they offer you if they do ask?
Anyone know if there are any hidden fees or holds on your credit card at checkin?
I probably have more questions but if anyone could tell me anything about this resort, I would be extremely happy.

Thanks everyone,
Kim

Congrats on your win!!!!! :Pinkbounc I love SA!! Just think of all that money you saved...........now you get to spend it on fun Disney stuff! :cool1: Or save it for the next trip.

I don't know too much about PI, but I know that when you win an auction on SA, you don't have to do a timeshare presentation unless it specifically said so in your auction. I'm sure yours didn't, most don't.

I did a search on here for PI and this page of info is what I came up with if you want to read thru it.

I'm sure there will be others that post to this thread also that will give you good info..

congrats again and have a great time! :wave2:

Oh, and on the website it says most 2 bedrooms have a jacuzzi in the Master bedroom..............put your request in for one of those. This was one of my favorite parts of being at Vistana last fall. After a day in the parks, there is nothing like soaking in that jacuzzi. I spent hours in that thing! :rotfl: :cloud9: :cloud9:

Thanks, Pamela.
We are excited to be staying somewhere new. Especially, a 2 Br. We have always just stayed in Disney hotel rooms before. It will be nice having more space. Any ideas how you make special requests? Do I have to call the PI directly? And when should I do that? Also, at the top of my Skyauction voucher , there is a 4 digit number that starts with 5 before the Sunterra address, is that just the # of the resort or could that happen to be my room #? It's not the street address because that begins with a 3. I am just so excited that I want to find out all of the information possible. There were a lot of great reviews on Trip advisor as well which is unusual because a lot of those are usually negative!! Thanks and if there is any more info to share, everyone please let me know.

Kim

Don't know about requests. I'm guessing they don't assign you anything until check in, but I don't know. That seems like what timeshare places usually do though. I would probably just call a few days ahead and see if you can give a request.

The number probably is a number assigned to the resort by it's company. It through me off too when I saw it on mine, but the number never meant anything to my reservation.

Since there are no elevators, I would probably request first or second floor, unless you don't want anyone over you (noise) and can stand to do three floors. PI is three floors, isn't it? I think so.

Hope you have a great time there and don't forget to give us a full trip report when you get back. We don't have many from PI on here and it's nice to hear about another resort. :sunny:

This is my home resort...we've owned here since 1989. You'll see in my signature that we've been back many times and are looking forward to 2 weeks there in March.

From my understanding, all of the 2 bedroom units have a jacuzzi tub. I've never stayed in one that didn't have one. The master bathroom is HUGE! There are 2 pools onsite and multiple hot tubs. Not much planned in the way of activities but we don't mind much because we usually aren't around to take part in any, anyway.

We used a crib once through the resort (for a newborn) and the next 2 times used A Baby's Best Friend to get a full sized crib. The one from PI was less sturdy and smaller than what we got from ABBF.

It really isn't walking distance to anything.

Feel free to ask whatever...I'll be happy to answer whatever I can!

Hi Barb. Thanks for the information. With the 2 kids, is it better to ask for the 1st floor? Is the patio/balcony pretty much the same on the 1st floor? Which is better? Would you happen to have any personal pictures of the rooms at all that you could send to me or show me. I might have more questions later!!!

Thanks a lot,

Kimmy

Kimmy,

We always prefer the first floor, only because of the convenience of not having to walk up the stairs at the end of the day! The patio/balconies are exactly the same size in all the units. They are screened in and have ceiling fans to help circulate the air.

I do have some pictures and I'll have to scan them...after I find them (which shouldn't be too hard). Give me a bit and I'll post them here!

Ask away!

Ok, thanks. I know it's your home resort but do you call ahead with requests or just ask when you are checking in? If I think of anything else then I will let you know. I will look forward to some pictures.

Thanks again,
Kim

We usually don't have requests, but the couple of times we have (once needing a queen bed in the second bedroom and once for the crib) I called ahead. Both times there was no problem with getting what I'd requested.

Off to see if I can find those pictures!
