We're back from our 1 week stay in a 3 bedroom unit at Cypress Pointe phase I. We won this on a skyauction bid and was pleased to actually get a unit for President's Week. We arrived at the property about 10:30am on Sunday and was asked to return after 12 noon as they were still checking out departures. We didn't expect to get our suite then, we were actually driving by looking for Salon, Salon (a hair salon) to get haircuts for my family of mopheads! Salon, Salon is right across the street! We ended up back at about 3 and was very pleased with the receptionist and we chatted about our preference of being on the top floor (even if they don't have elevators in the buildings), non-smoking and close to the pool. We got assigned to a great location overlooking the pools, nonsmoking & 3rd (top) floor! I was psyched to get all my requests and I'm not even an owner!!!! They gave me 3 room key cards and took an inprint of my credit card. They told me they'd hold $50 for room damage security reasons and also offered my the keys to the inroom safe for $1 a day. Our condo was great. It had nice mexican tile on the floors or carpet. The carpet did show a few marks/stains from previous users, but nothing terrible. The place was clean!! The master bedroom had a king bed, tv, whirlpool tub for 2 and a hugh shower. There was a sliding glass door that led to a screened dining patio. It was too cool for us to eat out there, but would be great in warmer monthes. I think there was a fan/light combo in that ceiling. My little girls slept in the other bedroom which had 2 twins an a trundle bed. In the living room there was a pull out sofa and a hugh TV, vcr & stereo. There was a kitchen with stove, fridge, microwave, coffee machine, garbage dispossal, diswasher, toaster....everything just like home! The washer/dryer was so useful. I did laundry everyday, whether it was our clothes or the pool towels. It was great to arrive home with a suitcase full of clean vacation clothes for a change and not have 5 loads to do on our arrival home! My 9 year old had a bedroom to herself that had a king, tv, big tub and shower & toilet. That was the weirdest part of this room design, both our master & my daughters room have the bathroom open style with no doors. So you don't really have any privacy. We mostly used the bathroom with a door that was outside the 2nd bedroom. Anyway, we were pleased with our unit. The volcano pool will be closed in a few weeks for renovations, but you can always us the other 2 pools. The location is wonderful. About 1/2 mile from crossroads so you're really at WDW gates. The resturant choices are great, plus Winn Dixie is across the street...no need to shop at "goldmine" Goodings. The game room was a lot of fun, pool tables, arcades, & air hockey. They have an activities director that get the kids envolved. If I didn't mention already, the property is kept very clean and we travel quite a bit and gave Cypress Pointe high marks. Sorry this is so long, but I think there are a few people looking for this report.

Thanks so much for the report- lots of details and, yes, we have been anxiously awaiting it! Hope I can bother you with a another question; did you have housekeeping come in and if so how often? Hope the rest of your trip was great too.

We stayed there in Dec. and I was told they had no activities at all. I specifically asked about kid's activities and was told "No, we don't anything like that". That is strange.

Mom - We didn't have housekeeping come in at all. I read in a booklet left in the room that there's a charge if you want housekeeping to come in. There was a upright vacuum in the suite. I just made the beds daily and washed the bath towels midweek. I really loved having that washer/dryer in the unit. I don't mind the questions.

klynn - Actually the activities director was hired about a month ago. She comes from Atlanta and was super nice. She has all sorts of ideas to have family activities in the future like bingo night, movie nights with popcorn, kereoke (spelling). Now she's there 6 days a week (not weds, i think) and does activities with kids ages 5 & up. There weren't a lot of kids around during the days, as most people go to the parks. But she's there with a schedule, she does jewlery making, face painting, mini putt golf etc.

The front desk also has volleyballs, tennis rackets, basketballs, shuffleboard stuff that you can borrow and use on their courts.

The washer/dryer is a big thing for us too. I checked SkyAuctions but couldn't find anything on the dates we are going but was able to book thru' HotelKingdom.com at $95. a nite which we are happy with!

You should also be real happy with the location. There are many resturants so close by. We ate out most nights, but twice we brought food back to eat in the condo. Maybe as the time gets closer, you can see if they can assign a unit closer to one of the pools that will be open during your stay. The front desk help really seemed to try to please.

Thanks so much for the report Dreamer! We are booked in a 1 bedroom unit the 1st of June at Cypress Point, and I was anxiously awaiting your report! Now I can relax and know we'll be staying at a nice place! Can you tell me if there is one section better than another? Did you wait until you arrived to make your requests at the desk, or did you also request before you arrived? You just knew you would be swamped with all these questions didn't you?
;) Thanks again for the report! :D

Thanks for the great report. I have been anxiously awaiting your return as I have booked a one bedroom villa here. I booked through HotelKingdom.com for $19/night for a one bedroom villa - of course I have to attend the timeshare presentation but I am already practicing saying "no!" I am glad to hear that the resort is nice and clean. That was my major concern! I was wondering if you made it over to any of the other pools as the volcano pool will be undergoing renovation during our stay. DH and I will be busy with Disney all day and I was just hoping to come back and take a quick dip in the evening. By the way, how big was the resort? Would you have to drive to one of the pools if you were staying in Phase I?
Thanks for your input and now I can sit back and relax and just count the days until May 14th! :bounce:

It is my pleasure to give this report along with answering any questions. I know all too well how difficult it is to make an accomidations decision!

imgointoDis - I called down a few weeks prior to arrival to make sure that the ressie was in place. At that time I requested non-smoking and listed my preferences. I did find out that they don't pre-assign units, it's based on what's actually available when you check in. I'd let them know that you'd like to be in a unit closer to a pool that is in operation.

kapeppy - We started to head over to one of the pools one day, but got side tracked by the air hockey game. Anyway, it's an easy walk, you wouldn't need to drive. The property isn't that big. You got a great rate. The timeshare people called us to invite us for breakfast & a chat, but we told them that we were busy and thanks anyway. They seemed pleasant enough, but keep practicing "NO".

I have stayed in both Phase 1 and Phase 2 (both 3 bedroom units). In my opinion Phase 2 is nicer. They have elevators, and the units are larger and newer. The 1 bedroom lockout unit in phase 1 is a bedroom and bath combination. In phase 2, it is a bedroom/bath with a kitchenette and sitting area. The location of the property (for either phase-they are adjacent to each other) is very appealing.

We had cancelled our 3 bedroom ressie for 2 weeks here because of the cancellation of organized recreational activites (when we called in January we were told they hadn't had organized activites for 6 months and had no plans to reinstate it), and because of the upcoming pool rennovation during our stay. After cancelling our ressie I sent them a detailed email about our dissatisfaction and why we cancelled (and rebooked at HGVC). Maybe they really do pay attention to their emails....

I'm glad to hear they've hired someone to do organized activities and that over the next couple of months they'll get that up and running again.

Hello,
We are planning to visit Club Sunterra soon. How long did they tell you the Volcano pool would not be able to be used? This was one of the main attractions for my kids. Are the sofas clean? Do you have to bring your own linens and towels? Are the pools big? Sorry about the questions, I usually stay at a different resort. We are being adventurous and trying something different, I hope we are not diappointed. Could you please give me the email address for Sunterra? Thanks!

Mary Jo - I can answer some of your questions. Our couch was clean, I guess it would be dependant on the unit you're in. You do not need to bring linens or pool towels, they are supplied in each unit. I don't know the exact dates of the renovation, but the property has other pools. What property do you usually stay at?

The volcano pool is supposed to be closed 4/1 - 6/1.

IVANOVA-Thank you very much.

DREAMER- Thank you for the info. The couch being dirty is a problem. I suppose we can check the place out and have an alternate plan. I will have to bring blankets , just in case the alternate plan doesn't work, to cover the couches with. Were you able to have hot water in all three showers all at the same time?

We have been staying at Radisson Parkway Resort the last few times we have visited Orlando. They have recently renovated there, from what I've read on a website.

Can anyone visited Islands of Adventure? It is the one and only theme park that we haven't been to.
Has anyone bought Orlando Attractions Discount Tickets online from Orlando Theme Park Tickets.Com? Has anyone been to the Pirates Dinner show?

Went 2 years ago, plan on returning in 3 weeks ... LOVED IT!! The Spiderman ride is the BEST!! Only ride in the world that I would actually say is worth waiting for in a 90 minute line (but, haven't done Men in Black yet, so I may end up saying that about MIB too).

Mary Jo - I'm glad I could help. I really don't understand the couch issue. We didn't have a dirty couch. They provide you with all the lines for all beds and extra blankets. We always had plenty of hot water, even enough to fill the huge jacuzzi in the master bedroom.

OOPS! Sorry, don't know where I read the couch issue. Thank you very much for answering all my questions. We have reservations for the three bedroom villa now. Is $130.00, including tax, a good price? ( For Sunterra) We are not going on the tour.:pinkbounc
