Sunscreen ?

I don't think I have ever had a sunscreen stain my clothing. And I would hope a swim suit would be resistant to sunscreen stains.

Didn’t even know sunscreen stains swimsuits. I’ve never had sunscreen stain my clothes either, always washes out fine. I just use Nuetrogena or Coppertone.

Coppertone Sport, Sunbum are the two I've been using, but it's not really the sunscreen. It's the interaction between the OxyBenzone in the sunscreen and the hard water that does it. You can get the rust like stains out by using Works Toilet Bowl Cleaner from Walmart. https://www.amazon.com/Home-Care-65...451053&sprefix=works+toilet+bo,aps,163&sr=8-2 I had an issue with it with my white work shirts when I worked outside, and Works took out 99% of the stains.

I haven't had the sunscreen directly stain clothing, but, sunscreen containing avobenzone will produce rust-like staining if clothes worn while wearing sunscreen is washed in hard (iron rich) water. Only thing I found to take those stains out was Bar Keepers Friend. I get the cream formula and have to scrub the stains in water with a brush, then WASH IMMEDIATLY (not in hard water), as Bar Keepers Friend is caustic to fabric.

other sunscreen ingredients like oxybenzone and octinoxate also contribute to staining.

I will give it a try. Did you dilute the cleaner and soak the clothing in it or apply directly just to the stained area?

Not clothing, but now that both of our cars have black interiors, it is really important not to touch the car interior with any body part that has sunscreen on it! Not easy to get out.

I pretty much soaked the white shirts in Works and let it sit for a half hour. Then washed in cold water, and checked it to see if the stain was still there, if it was I did it again.

Never had any issues with suntan lotion or sunscreen staining any article of clothing. When you first put it on, let it dry for a few minutes before getting dressed and there will be less transfer to whatever clothing you are wearing.

It's the sweating through the sunscreen that gets on the clothes. Depending on the fabric, finish, and any number of other factors, it can cause stains.

Just checked, my Equate sunscreen has all three in it, and homosalad. My wife was reading an article a few days ago critical of the sunscreen sold in the U.S. Article made the argument that we are decades behind other nations in approving more effective sunscreens. I have always used sunscreen, and working graveyard shift for 25 years I slept during the day and was not outside much and still have had to have a skin cancer removed.
