sunday-thursday only dvc owners

i make 1 trip a year and try to do either 10 or 12 nights with 1 weekend in there... i am not switching rooms in the middle of my vacation to save points...i bought them to use them..i dont understand the fascination with people and weekend points and with people selling on ebay for profit .....if you book at the 11 month window you will always get the reservation you want.....i look at it as a whole..a 1 bedroom for 12 nights is 268 points in nov when i go...the dvc is still a great deal....i will always get what i want because i plan ahead....for all the golfers out there if you want a good teetime you call in advance..dont ***** when your teetime is 4pm because you decided to call the day before for a tee time...plan in advance and you dont have to worry about who is selling on ebay and who is booking sun-thur....

I doesnt bother me how other plan their stays. We only have 215 pts and with needing a 2 bdrm Sun-Thur is the only that works out good for us and allows us to stay several days. Of course we always stay 2-3 days at Universal anyway and with FOTL the weekend is a perfect time to stay there.

PS
Reading about the reserving prime times, then auctioning practice, Isn't this against the rules. I know we can rent points, but I don't think this auctioning practice is in the spirit of ownership
There is a not for "commercial use" statement in the papers we signed, but it is up to the Board to define it and decide to enforce it. There is a legitimate aurgument to be made that cherry-picking-prime-holiday-weeks-for-the-lowest-sunday-thursday-point-value-and-auctioning-them-off-on-an-auction-site is commercial use and should be enforced.

But we need sunday through thursday folks to help even out demand, its certainly fine IMHO, and a good idea to use points sparingly.

Agreed. Unfortuantely though, I don't envision this happening.

We always try to do the 12 night Sunday through Thursday ressie to get the most punch for the point (kinda like bang for the buck, only in DVC terms). When we initially joined DVC back in 1995, our guide suggested that we pay cash for weekends and just use our points for Sunday through Thursday. We did this for a couple of years, but finally decided that it made more sense to buy enough points to stay 12 nights and forego the cash ressie.

How come no matter what thread I read I come to the same conclusion...

I NEED MORE POINTS!!!

1) I don't see a problem Sun-Thu.
2) I don't see a problem for any day(s).
3) I don't see a problem renting points to friends.
4) I don't see a problem renting points for profit.
5) Points-are-Points and someone has to use them.
6) We all bought in knowing that there is flexibility.
7) Who cares whether they are
. . . used on weekdays
. . . weekends
. . . rented

PS - I have never rented-out points.

We used to arrive on a Friday and pay cash and stay somewhere, usually a moderate, and thenm move to DVC for the Sunday-Thursday thing. That worked very well for us for many years until we bought a second contract and had enough points to not have to do that anymore. Not moving is kind of nice, even though I really never minded moving when we were doing it. It was kind of like having two different vacations, because you were in a different resort atmosphere after a few days.
