Sun Country Airlines???????? MSP to MCO

thanks for posting the map--a visual always helps!
If SC sticks with the early am flights we will most likely need the hotel as I can't see us driving all night then jumping on a plane...lol..well as a passenger I could do it but I don't think DH would appreciate the driving to much!! Plus it is fun to hit MOA first and get our vacation mood!

Dudspizza...thanks for the links-I have em bookmarked! Our last trip we stayed at the Country Inn & Suites right across from Mall of America, I believe their park and fly was about 99.00 at the time. Are the hotels you mentioned closer to the airport than the one I stayed at? I don't know much about location in MSP--not sure where Eagen is--but we are great with a map so no problem in finding it..the price is great! Did they have a special lot for the park & fly?
Also thanks for the links..depending on flight times we may not even need a hotel..just drive down and hop on the plane!

They are not that far apart. But one advantage that Country Inn might have is that since they are accross the street form the mall you could hop on the train and get dropped off right at the terminal. they start leaving the mail at 414 am. Or you could just use the hotels shuttel.

I had no idea there was a train running from MOA to MSP!!! How long is the ride?

I have no idea how long the ride, is but if you are flying Sun Country, you would have to hike over to the HHH Terminal. You are better off with the hotel shuttle service. The "train" is the light rail commuter system that just started in the MSP area.

The lightrail actually stops at the HHH terminal first as I recall. Yep here is the link to the map. http://www.metrotransit.org/rail/ From the mall of America it is maybe a 10 minute ride. Very easy--the machine where you buy your ticket ($1.75) actually will take a credit or debit card even.

I was not too into the lightrail idea to begin with, but DH rides it for part of his commute and loves it. We rode it for fun awhile back and it is pretty cool. The trains come about every 8 minutes.

HHH terminal is the 3rd stop from MOA. There is 2 park and rides before HHH. It only takes about 6 to 8 minutes to get there. The $1.75 that mom says is for peak hour rates. It is only $1.25 non rush hour , which is before 6am monday thru friday.
We are thinking about using the train this year when we go and everytime we use the train we see several people using it to get to and from the airport all the time.
It will beat the $200+ in parking that we ussally pay.

I didn't think you could park overnight, much less several days on end at a Park N Ride lot? Has that changed?

Well what a bargain!! Yep, DH rides it at about 7:00 and then again at around 4:30.

Can you do that? DH and I talked about it, but were concerned with the safety of the car and wondered if whomever patrols those lots would allow a care to be left there for a week.

No you can't from the park and ride lots. We were thinking staying at the Country Inn or maybe even downtown and then taking the LRT to the airport.
Just saw on the Country Inn site that the first 7 days are free and after that it is $10 a day. Alot less then long term parking.

I think the Park N Ride lots they are talking about are at the hotels or the ones across 494 from the airport. They are lots specifically for parking in when you are flying somewhere, less expensive then parking at the airport, not the park and ride lots for the light rail system.
