Has anyone ever flown this airline? I have never heard of it, but the prices are good out of Lansing, MI to MCO.

I flew them once from St. Louis to Cancun, no problems. Long time ago but if cheap, I would go with this kind of charter flight company.

Sun Country does operate charter flights, but to be clear, its flights between Lansing and Orlando are scheduled services.

We flew Sun Country years ago on a charter flight. I recall being a bit nervous flying with an airline that sounded more like a lemonade brand than an airline, but our flights were great!

This happens to be our "hometown airline" here in MN. I have flown them many times and they are really spreading their wings and offering more services at competive prices. They are better than US airways, Air Tran, and Delta in my opinion. If you are going to check luggage you can pre-pay up to 24 hous before flight and get a discount for checking luggage.

we :lovestruc Sun Country! Hometown airline here - we are flying them next week, AAMOF! I have flown them in the past and love them.

Great staff, great deals to be had.

Go for it!

We flew with them once and I would rather walk. When we arrived at our airport (Long Island, NY) we were told they were combining the non-stop to Orlando flight with a flight to Ft. Lauderdale. Our non-stop flight was no longer non-stop. There was not an empty seat on the plane. The plane was too heavy to take off so they dumped fuel and flew us to LaGuardia Airport (a large airport about 50 miles away). Since they had no fueling priviledges there, we had to wait on the ground for them to make a deal to fuel up. This took more than an hour. We did not get drinks or snacks. The children were restless and it was no picnic for the adults either. We did arrive safely, but the trip home also had a stop (instead of the non-stop we purchased). Never, ever again.

A few weeks later my niece had a worse experience. The same deal with 2 flights combined and stopping at LaGuardia. In addition the plane also stopped in Newark, NJ to pick up more passengers.

Oh, and we did not get any compensation for this.

Hope things have changed. Good luck to you.

We usually fly Sun Country out of Minniapolis. This last trip we used Delta because it was cheaper. We have never had a problem with Sun Country. I recommend them!

Sun Country only flies out of MSP and Lansing. If this happened, it was well over 10 years ago when they were still strictly a charter company.

Sun Country has since become a small, regular airline with many scheduled flights using MSP as their home base. They only fly non-stop (at least almost all flights are non-stop) to from MSP with a few out of Lansing.

FWIW, I like Sun Country as my hometown airline and will fly them any time that the prices are similar.

Sun Country's schedule between Lansing and Orlando is rather limited depending on the time of the year. We looked at them for Spring Break 2012 and there are no flights on Sunday, Tuesday and Thursday in March and April. The fares aren't that much better than Delta in what I've been comparing.

My sister and her family fly Sun Country from Minneapolis frequently and have had no complaints.

I've flown on Sun Country a number of times. The best thing about them is that they keep the Delta extortion fares off of the routes/times where they compete. For that reason if the schedule works for our needs I'll throw them some business occasionally.

For economy service they're okay, but like most airlines not called Southwest they do nickel/dime you on things like bag fees, seat selection, etc. Their limited number of destinations make them less than ideal for anyone who needs to travel regularly for work and wants to have a single frequent flier program to worry about earning status tiers.

They do have fairly inexpensive 1st class upgrades at check-in (particularly if you'd be paying bag fees or paying for food or the video system). Though compare that to frequent fliers who may be scoring free upgrades on Delta or other larger carriers.

On the plus side, they don't fly "regional" jets (I've been stuck on RJ's for flights to Los Angeles, Houston, and Miami, so they don't seem so regional to me) so no winged sardine cans.

I love Suncountry (am MN girl too) and will fly them whenever I can. They recently were sold to a MN family that has other businesses too so I hope that helps them grow. They are about the only thing that survived the stupidity of Denny Hecker....
I've flown them a few times and found I liked them better than Delta or the other cloud-hopper planes I've been on.

You are mixing up our hometown crooks. Sun Country was part of Tom Petters' house of cards. Denny Hecker had the car dealerships. :teeth:

I recommend Sun COuntry, too. Good service. Newer planes, very clean and good on-time rec ord.
