Sun block for heads?

My DD Katie is always getting sunburned on the top of her head. I try and make her wear a hat when she is out on the sand, but its hard to wear a hat in the water.

Does anyone know of a sunblock that is good for heads? Something that sprays?

DD has thick hair, so I cant see myself smearing sunscreen in her hair and then enjoying washing it out.

My son has a very short buzz cut and we always spray his scalp with the Coppertone Sport spray - it's water proof and sweat proof. We have never had a burnt scalp.

How old is she? If she's little, like a toddler, make her wear the hat in the water. You can buy water hats/quick drying hats made exactly for this. If she's older, is it getting burned in her part? or other places? I lather the thick stuff into the parts on myself and my kids. Use the spray at the beach. Beats burning. Also beats washing hair with a burned scalp.

I think the Paul Mitchell leave in conditioner might have a sunscreen in it.

If you're talking about the part in her hair, I use Ocean Potion Dab-On Stick. It's liquid, but it is in a little tube with a dauber on the end. It's not greasy, either.

We also use the Coppertone Sport spray (I get the pump kind vs aerosol) on parts. It's stiff (sort of like hairspray), but not a thick goo in your hair.

There's a Coppertone Sport sunscreen stick that I use. It is similar to chapstick, but bigger. (wider and longer) Also--but more expensive--is the powder sunscreen sold at places like Sephora. It is in a pre-filled brush applicator. I use the former on my son (on the tops of his ears, etc.) and the latter on myself (on my face and part).

I use the spray. It washes out fairly well and it's clear unless you're within an inch or three when you spray it. Her hair will be stiff, but hey mine's always stiff anyway after getting salt water in it.

I just read in a magazine that Nioxin makes a scalp sunscreen, but I am not sure how user-friendly it is. My part burns and peels multiple times each summer, so yeah, if there is a decent scalp sunscreen I would love to find it!
