Summer

If you can go the last week or two of August, that seems to be the best time. Wait times, especially mid week, are typically pretty low, or at least have been the last 2 years. I’ve been mid July and early August and it definitely seems busier than the reports I hear about late August. Just for reference, here’s the average wait time by month for last year - https://www.thrill-data.com/waits/park/dlr/disneyland/graph/calendar/2022/8

The greener the better. Hopefully that helps with your planning!
Interesting! We are going late June but I am kicking myself for not booking early June (like right now). My kids have been out of school for over 2 weeks!

I know the feeling. I was thinking we should have planned WDW Mother’s Day week, right after the kid was done with school. Sounded like they had very low crowds.

Totally side note I am seeing a lot of people who do Disneyland and than Hawaii -- is this super common?

We were going to go in August but ended up doing a holiday trip instead. I have heard August can be hot and you will need a mid day break, but not unbearable. With the reservation system I think they control the crowds a little bit better.
The reservation system is not there to control crowds for guests. It is there to allow Disney to staff to the minimum. IMO.

Exactly! ☝️

And also so they can roll out new “limited edition” merch or discount tickets or after dark parties or other special promotions to get more bodies in the parks if things are looking slow. Disney does NOT want uncrowded parks.

When in Hawaii I can tell the people from the East Coast--they are the ones walking on the beach at 3:00 a.m.. The West Coast people are the ones walking on the beach at 6:00 a.m.:P
We are from the middle of the country (1 hour less of a time change than east coast)--so I guess that should make us 4:00 a.m.! Actually, on the the way out there we were so excited to be at Aulani we stayed up a full 24 hours. At 23 hours it was nighttime and the activities were winding down and we could have gone to bed, but DD wanted us to make it another hour, so she could say she had stayed up a whole 24!

Don't kick yourself! DLR or Hawaii? Having been to DLR in early June several times and in July several times, I can tell you July is usually less crowded. Early June on weekdays are the last days before a lot of annual passes get blocked out and it can be crazy crowded with people trying to get that last park day in before being blocked. Hawaii was really nice in July!
