I did a post a couple of months ago about renting a house for a week with another family in nags head, but we're nixing that this year and thinking of staying closer to home, thinking cape cod. still with this other family (we all get along well). we've never rented on the cape before, but have done many day trips there. Kind of looking forward to a whole week there in the summer if this works out.

any advice on reputable places to rent? towns? agencies? I love chatham/harwichport and that area, but am open to others. would love any tips or advice you all can offer. we are 2 families, with kids next summer who will be 6, 5, 3, 3, 2.

thanks!

Since you want "relocation/travel" advice please PM me...I can tell you about some forums dedicated to that.

Couple good rental agencies in Wellfleet are Chequessett 508-349-3411 800-334-0909 or sweetbriar realty 508-349-0266 800-988-0266. They both have nice listings. Course it is about 35 minutes away from Harwich, closer to Provincetown. Wellfleet has a Golf course, tennis courts (both town owned and privately owned with lessons), town playground, of course beautiful ocean and bay beaches, nature trails, National Park. Some you can pay by the day and some by the week. Even one you can park at free with a short walk. Wellfleet also has a variety of Galleries, a Theater and many churches. Has a real Main Street with a town center. (Can you tell I grew up here, and would take a Nuclear attack to get me to leave-actually I'd still stay). Good luck with your search. I don't think it matters where you go on the Cape, there is always beauty to be found.

I know of a few families that go down for a weekend and stay in a hotel and check -in with local reality offices ,then drive by the listings that look interesting to them. I would check out realitors in the areas that you want to stay in and make plans to visit then in late March or April. Most of the realitors have "rental listings" on the Cape. Also, since I see you live in Mass. ...word of mouth from friends and co-workers could be your best way to find aval. rentals. Good Luck ....I love Cape Cod !:thumbsup2

I'm not sure about rental agencies, but may I suggest Dennis, Harwich or Yarmouth with kids that age. Rte. 28 has lots of activities for night time or on those rainy days but it's still close to nice beaches and not a bad drive to P-Town or Hyannis - pretty much centrally located. We prefer Dennis because there are lots of beaches (both Ocean and Bay) and you can get parking passes and use all the beaches, including lakes which is very flexible. We've rented in Falmouth and it's lovely, but we seemed to spend a lot of time in the car on Rte. 28 going to the trampolines, go-karts, minigolf, etc. We're active vacationers and I tend to get antsy staying on the beach too much - maybe your family is different.

You'll have so much fun. Love the Cape.

By the way Mayflower Beach, Dennis is a beautiful beach on the bayside for families with children!
