Summer Incentives

The next round of incentives beginning 5/30 will be:

  • Total voters
    56
  • Poll closed .
The fine print says you can sell the first use year and our guide also commented that it would have to be the 2022 points unless we wait until tomorrow to buy, which defeats the purpose. I'm just curious if there's any wiggle room on this and the 4 days issue.
Yup. I’m considering a different UY (December) for greater flexibility in the spring, but then I can’t easily combine contracts for an Aulani hurrah (I suppose I could one time transfer…)… different UY also gives me more time before pulling the trigger.

We’re already blue card but these incentives are very strong for 150 points, and they’re future proof within the network. Resale is very mispriced at the moment.

FWIW we recently did an week in an AUL OV using a mishmosh of points (transferred SSR into our Feb UY, and our own AUG UY Riviera points). I just booked 3 days with the SSR points and more days with the RIV points and linked them as two separate reservations. It was easy, a seamless stay in the same room, and no need to use a transfer among/within my own memberships.

Wouldn't it better to switch to a freshly cleaned room?

So what is the consenus if we want to have June UY? Purchase today or tomorrow? I guess might be to late to buy tonight...

I mean if you buy tonight you get 2022 points, right? If you buy tomorrow you 100% will not get those points as they expire today. So buying a June UY tomorrow you lose out on those points that can be sold back to Disney if you buy 150.

Have we confirmed that someone was able to get an override for the requirement of the 4 days for the Magical Beginnings buyback?

Additionally, banking requires a separate call to MS, so if you buy last minute (literally), you run the risk of not getting into MS in time to bank.

My guide confirmed you can’t do MB for 2022 June UY points at this point. They would bank it for you, but you can’t sell them back to Disney. I bet as long as you emailed your guide by tonight you’d get 2022 still…

Didn’t know about the 4 day rule. But I believe you can make it a stipulation to bank the points in the sale I’m guessing. Worst case is you rescind tomorrow if they can’t do what is wanted.

Can one sell 2023 and use 2022's banked points in 2023? lol

So true... Especially for VGF, but really all of it… if the purpose of resale is to save 20-30% (at least) over direct pricing (which seems fair given the fact there are some very practical and tangible real things you lose by going resale), I find the going rates to be too high.

Recent VGF resale purchaser here and I definitely have mild regrets today! I paid $150 for VGF resale but got more than half a year of banked points so I’m estimating it was effectively just below $140per point and I think that was a pretty good deal.

As someone who already has 200 direct points, a $20-30 difference per point would still make me lean direct for the ability to book at VDH (and presumably Poly 2) on occasion—but if I didn’t have a blue card already I’d be crying my eyes out.

Agreed. It's tough on resale with the actively selling resorts since they are offering nice incentives. After all the discounts, MB, and renting a few points from the first year we didn't need (since we already booked 2024 trips with another contract) our $/pt for VGF came out just below $150/pt. That is on par with resale if not a nudge better.

But with resorts that aren't actively selling it then resale is probably a lot better deal in comparison. We got BCV at $120/pt for 200 pts. That was $24,000 before closings costs. Compare that to $275/pt direct BCV since it's not actively selling and we saved $31,000 buying those 200 pts as resale versus direct ($55,000 for 200 pts direct before closing costs).

Summer Incentive with Welcome Home discount

Not sure if this has been mentioned, but there’s an additional $1500 credit if you’re adding on at VGF, AUL, or RIV at the 150 point level and have a trip planned this summer. (see attachment) These combined credits with Magical Beginnings are so tempting!!
Wow, I’m there in August and can get 150 VGF points for $161 after MB.
Always been a white card pleb but this has me at least thinking about it.

Thank you for sharing!

My Guide mentioned this new discount as part of our rewrite opportunity, but didn't explain it. She said I needed a trip booked to apply it (no problem). Also said this would take the place of the Disney Visa credit ($1250) from the last contract.
