Summer Crowd Question

Are summer crowds worse than the holiday season? I have only been to Disney in the peak holiday season. so don't know what to expect.

These tour groups like the brazil group, are they frequent throughout the summer. I am going the end of August will they still be there. Thanks in advance for your replies!

The end of August is usually pretty good crowd-wise. This year may be a little more busy due to the free dining offer. But even with that, I doubt crowds will be anywhere close to Holiday levels.

I don't recall seeing any large Tour Groups when I was there at the end of August in 2001. But, I have only briefly noticed them on other trips & never had any of the nightmare experiences I've seen posted here. I don't think they're really that big an issue, I wouldn't worry about it.

I was in WDW from June 18-26 and again from Aug 5-9. I was there on Thanksgiving Day and stayed until the following Wednesday. Here are my thoughts...T-Day is a zoo in MK, we all know that. But, at least it is not blistering hot and drenchingly humid!! In June, and then again in August, I found the crowds to be high. Add that to the heat/humididty and well....it was not a good combination. Yes, there are people that can only go during the summer. But, if you can get there in late August then you may be better off. The kids are back in school in a lot of areas and that cuts down on the number of people in the parks at least during the week. When we went in '03 we were there for the 15-21 of August and it was hot but the crowds were okay..higher than usual due to the FairyTale pkg. Then last year we went Aug 13-22...it should have been okay but Hurricane Charley came and the schools shut down..so more Floridian kids in the parks. But, all told...late August is the best time to go crowd-wise.

We just returned from WDW last week and there were no tour groups. We have been in all the summer monthes (june-Aug) and the big tour groups usually go in July. We use to go the middle of July every year and we noticed that there was a lot of these groups. We didn't like to deal with them so we switched to going the first week of Aug. and it is much better. The parks were crowded but very managable especially with fastpass. We love going in the summer because they are open later but I would love to see it at Christmas. Maybe one year!!
