Summer Air Discounts?

Starting to plan our next vacation. Thinking about dates and DW wants to fly to Orlando on July 2. Do you think there will be discount air fare around this tme or do you think since it's so close to the 4th that there won't be any. Anybody from last year, where there discounts. If not, I want to try and talk her into going at a later date.

The last couple of years we have been flying out for the July 4th week. This summer we flew on July 3rd, and had a fare of $180 RT from LaGuardia, always booking early around August or September for the following year.

Previous summers my fares have run between $169 and $200, all around the July 4th weekl.

This year however, the fares are much higher, and we haven't booked our flights yet. The same flight is now $215, just down from $235. I'm waiting (and hoping) for it to go under $200 at least. Fuel prices are slowly starting to drop, so maybe that will lower the airfares too. Boy am I optomistic!!

I'm watching too! I'm hoping that when Airtran and SW come out with fares they others will drop. I can only hope....
