Summer 2024 Prices

My other issue with these summer prices is DCL generally only goes one way with their prices so as the different levels book the prices will go up most likely. So by the time it gets to my castaway level it'll be even more expensive.
I tried to go to bed thinking about the wonderful family memory we are making and how priceless it will be.

I woke up with my stomach literally in knots. I'm sitting here and my whole body is stressed out.

Cruises always get more expensive until the last minute when they need to fill it. I remember our first cruise we got a balcony guaranty. I watch the same exact cabin on the opposite side rise in price over months and by time it sold I think they paid triple what we paid.

BUT I never thought about the fact that since we can't book until the last day - that in those four days the price will keep rising. It might be even more than we are looking at right now? Oh my, I think we might have to have a family meeting.

I have been planning and saving, not sure what part of booking well over a year in advance would make you think I’m not.

My real point is that it would cost $17-18k for my family of 5. And that’s before airfare, extra time on one end of the trip to visit my sister in Seattle, etc. The value is not there at that price point. There are way cooler trips we could take for $17k.

We have used GT rates, but scheduling that requires flexibility which can be difficult and, with 5 people, we have to book two GT rooms, which doesn’t end up saving us much.
Wasn’t trying to attack you 🤷‍♀️ hope you get to take your trip at some point

It will really depend on who books and also what cruise you're looking at. I have no doubts that the lighthouse point cruises will likely increase in prices as it gets through the castaway levels. It's just too popular not to. It really will come down to how many people booked in those four days for the room category you're wanting.

For example, something I've noticed as I've watched cruise prices over the year. Alaska cruises verandah and oceanview rooms prices jump pretty quickly as people book but inside rooms sell out the slowest so the rate increases slower.

Its hard to say exactly what will happen. I'd bet those double dip and inaugural lighthouse cruises will go up. The rest likely not. So if you're looking at a cruise without lighthouse point you are probably safer than if you're wanting to go to lighthouse point.

Its always hard to judge with new stuff being thrown in. Normally without a new destination or new ship prices I don't see jump all that much in those first few days.

No we are looking at 4 Day WISH out of Canaveral. So while the island isn't on our itinerary I'm afraid WISH might be popular. DD really wants it because her DH is only cruising because of special birthday so she thinks this will be once and done and she wants the fancy ship. My DS teaches so back to those awful summer months and we'd like Port Canaveral to save driving time for a 4 night cruise. I've only done week long cruises but that was for sure out of the kid's budget. Oh and we want Verandah, especially the family one because there is a murphy bed (no bunks needed). :sad2:

Our first transatlantic cruise was in '11 and for 3 people we paid just over $3,000, oceanview, for 14 nights. In '24 it would be $6400. Wish my raises at work would have kept up with DCL price inflation over the years:rotfl2:
This is from our first transatlantic in a SPH room it was only 11-nights but a bargain. $2168 for the 3 of us.

I don't think the Wish prices will rise much in those 4 days. It'll be the 3rd year of cruises for the Wish, so any of the platinum/gold/silver people who want to sail it already have. If it was going to Lighthouse Point, the prices would definitely rise quickly.

Yeah the prices will almost definitely be more for sure

I've been looking at every possible option for us even just a 3 night Halloween as DS loves Halloween. But WOW I could do so much more with that much money. I just don't think they can impress me enough to think I'd get my monies worth. Now to tell DD ..... :headache:

Can no longer do both athens and santorini in the same greek isles trip. Its either or the other. No one goes to the greek isles on a first time cruise and only chooses to see one of them.

thats probably me out.
We only had Athens and Mykonos on the first cruise DCL did in Greece. Happy to get to stop on Santorini this summer.

Not sure who is deciding the schedule for the Greece cruises but DCL lost out with us too. We ended up going with NCL to get the itinerary that we wanted. We weren't about to go to Crete for the first time and not see Knossos (can't feasibly do it from the Chania port).

YES! I loved the itinerary for the northern 11 night this year and would have booked next year if it was the same. They've completely butchered Europe.
I was hoping for a northern European cruise that is similar to Carnivals which includes Germany, Amsterdam, Rotterdam, Copenhagen, Zeebugee, Gothenberg, and Edinburgh. There are plenty of interesting ports in Northern Europe without going to St Petersburgh.

Another one who was hoping for a similar itinerary to the Copenhagen 11 night from this year. I’m even more gutted it’s too late to change our 2023 plans now as the only longer European next year is $23k for our family of 5 which is insane!!

We’re now considering Alaska, which is reasonable in comparison in late august but we will certainly be keeping any eye out for GTY rates!

There are some good itineraries on Princess and Celebrity that visit the Baltic countries like Sweden, Finland, and Estonia plus some of the others Disney is stopping at this year.

Why give up going where you want to go just to sail on Disney and pay 4 times as much?

Yes, looks like they gave up the Baltic Sea totally. Not even entering that body of water in 2024…

I think RCCL did too. NCL, celebrity and Princess have some nice itinerary’s. I’d give the nod to Princess. Newest ship(2019), best itinerary all the Baltic countries minus Russia. 14 days and self laundry. I priced out an obstructed balcony 2 adults at $7500 includes drinks, Wi-Fi, transfers, and gratuities.

I’m not sure I want to go to Europe again next year. I’ll see how I feel about it in 6 months or so.
