Summer 2024 Direct Incentives

Since I bought in this week I should know this but I don't. Does anyone know how prorated dues works when you delay payment 90 days and you use Magical Beginnings? Do you still pay dues on the Magical Beginning points? Do you have to pay dues from the day you sign the contract or is it from the day you make final payment?

I am considering rescinding my purchase and pushing it back to the middle or end of the new incentive cycle to save money on dues. I chose a March use year so it doesn't change anything for me on "free points" and I don't plan to use my points until October of 2025. I do have some credit card incentives I need to consider but could cover those in other ways.

I’m sorry for asking if it has been stated, I didn’t follow the incentives much last round as I wasn’t thinking about adding on at the time, are the incentives the same as they were for the spring 2024 round? Thinking about adding on some more at riviera since I’m not longer interested in the new poly tower and prices on the treasure cruise I was hoping to take are astronomical.

Basically about the same as last round. Pricing has been pretty good. Especially if you take Riviera as an add on at the 250 or 300 point levels.

@CastAStone just posted a very brief summary (I’ve quoted his post). Doesn’t seem like very much change so good for those still considering the previous incentives for RIV, nothing better for CFW. Probably looks bad to overly incentivize their newest, not even open yet, resort.
Thank you! I saw the overview but noticed it was for non owners. Is it the same for current owners?

Paying dues on MB depends on your UY. For example, I purchased in May and I have a June UY. They gave me 2023 points, which I did not have to pay dues on. So I got a full credit for MB without paying Dues on those. If they are current year points, you will pay dues.

Dues are prorated for the current year based on when you purchase. If you purchase at the midpoint of the year, you would pay 50% of the normal annual dues.

Current year dues are pro-rated "from the moment you have access to the membership" per my guide, which I understand to mean when it's first drawn up, not when it's signed or closed.

Edited to remove incorrect MB reference.

Yes, this is how it worked with our purchase last summer.

We have Sept UY. Bought early June and closed Sept (final payment). Our dues were prorated starting June.

Yeah it would save me $450 if I cancel and rebuy in 2 months... Hmmm
You’re buying RIV, right? I think there’s no risk there pushing the purchase out to save the $450.

2 times it did make a difference:
recently with OKW where 300pt+ options were removed before end of sale cycle,
last summer VGF pulled back on selling late UYs before that cycle ended (unless buyer already had membership that UY).

Thanks for all the responses. Figured it would be quicker to get the info here than asking my guide. The way dues are prorated was what I remembered discussing previously. I am buying 250 points at RIV so I think it makes sense to rescind and repurchase at the end of the incentive cycle. Also pushes the 6 month interest free window on my Disney Visa out another 3 months which lets my savings keep earning more interest over that period which adds even more to the savings beyond just reduced dues. I think I'll go that route.

To me - it comes down to if you have a specific timeframe from which you are looking to USE the points. We added on to our August use year this last incentive cycle, and made sure we had the points in our account as I wanted to book a Standard Studio for Easter Weekend in 2025 at the Riviera for my family. If I didn't have the points at 11-months and bought it today, those rooms are gone - so I spent the extra on dues to get access to the points to be able to secure the booking I wanted at 11-months....just something to consider ...

Has anyone confirmed what the military discount is this round, or if there even is one?
