Hi again everyone,

Can anyone tell me a bit more about the Sum of All Thrills? I am particularly interested in approximate wait times...they don't seem to be listed anywhere. Also, for touring planning, do we head there first or does the line die down...or is it not an issue?

Thanks

IME, wait times are 30 minutes or less. There are 4 robotic arms and 8 teams of 2 designing and 8 teams of 2 in the intro room, then the "line". I only count the wait time to get to the intro room as the time in line, ymmv. We have seen very minimal waits and pretty substantial ones. I find the line to be weather-dependent, it grows greatly if people are waiting out bad weather in Innoventions.

I tried it for the first time last trip. It was fun, but probably won't be a must do for me on future trips. We had maybe a five minute wait. We got to it probably about 20-30 minutes after rope drop. Would have been there sooner, but TT went down for about 10 minutes while we were in line and that slowed our rope drop plan down a little bit. I've heard that as soon as the line starts to build, waits get long because of the low capacity and because it's a relatively long experience with watching a preshow video and designing the coaster. I'd try it at least once, but work it into a rope drop plan after TT like we did.

We waited an hour to do this.It was also summer time.I would do it when you are ready for ac or if it rains. It takes longer to design the coaster than it does to ride it.It was fun but not a must do.

I was wondering the same thing. Also, is this the same experience as the coaster thing at Downtown Disney?

Yes, the SOAT at Epcot and the Design Your Own Coaster at Disney Quest are similar. In both cases, you get to design your coaster and then ride it. DD's 12 and 15 consider SOAT a 'must do'. We rope drop Soarin', ride SOAT (maybe a 5-10 minute wait by 9:20/9:30) and use FP+ for Test Track - this way we get in their 3 favourite rides.

I waited maybe 10 minutes. I was at EPCOT at RD in April this year. I rode Test Track, then went to check out SOAT - it wasn't open yet, and this was only 9:05 AM because they let us in early at RD around 8:50 AM. So I went to ride Mission Space, then went back to SOAT. It was open by then with a short line, but it takes awhile to move through SOAT - a very limited number of people can do it at once.

I really enjoyed it! Have fun! :goodvibes

Thank you so much everyone. We will make this the second on our RD day (first will be Soarin' for the DH). My DD is 15 and wants to be a theme park designer (engineer) when she grows up. She found out about Sum of all Thrills and that was it...wouldn't matter if we had to wait hours...we were going to do it. Not having to wait hours is a positive in my book.

This is a must do for our family -usually more than once...i think Lines (touring plans) does track wait times but I didn't confirm. The robotic arm is very high tech theme park movement - nothing like the downtown disney experience.

Did this twice on Thursday. Due to a system glitch, i got fp+ for soarin and test track, we rope dropped sum of all thrills. Went on twice in a row and are the only people in lounge, the room or the ride. So, for the first 20 minutes, not a single person was there.

My kids much prefer Cyberspace Mountain at DQ, and the queues there are often zero. SOAT is good - it's a more immersive experience, but you get to pick 4 coaster sections, where Cyberspace Mountain is about 10 IIRC, although it's probably less realistic than SOAT regards a "real" coaster. On our last trip (2 weeks ago) we didn't do SOAT at all as we never saw queues less than 30 minutes, but I suspect the DQ one was done well into double digits over a couple of visits (I just leave the kids to wander DQ by themselves).
Like others have said, if you really want to do SOAT, plan for at or near rope drop if you want to avoid >30 minute wait.

If you have a Touring Plans subscription, like PP mentioned, they do have wait times for SOAT. Waits start building around 10am typically. :) good luck planning!

I am glad to see this post as I never even heard about this attraction my first 2 times at Disney. I just saw this at Touring Pans this time and couldnt een find very much information about it on Disney's website. I am wondering if my 7 and 9 yr old will enjoy?

We loved this attraction and waited about 15 minutes. This was early on, probably about 10 am - last Thursday 11/6. HTH!

Yes! And if you split them up they can each build their own thing to their thrill level preference and each use the ruler and dial etc! It's great fun and they are the perfect target age for the experience and math and science exposure!
