My son is autistic and although he will love the designing and the ride, the wait might just do him in. What might be the best time of the day in terms of crowd (we will be there May 9th) and/ or does this attraction participate in the DAS system? TIA!

In virtually all cases, arriving at park opening can be the shortest waits at WDW.

Sum of All Thrills doesn't participate in DAS or FP+. The line can get very long. My DS also has special needs and we once waited 30 - 40 minutes for the experience. He loved it, but the line was just too much for him. My suggestion would be to go at rope drop. I believe it opens at 9 am. I would simply go there first and get in line!

You could also have someone in your party wait in line and you take him to do something else. There's a lot in that area to do to keep him occupied.

We always go as soon as we arrive and the wait isn't long. We just did it last week. The park was pretty crowded because of President's week and we went on the day of evening EMH so it wasn't the recommended park. Even with all of that my boys waited maybe 5 minutes to get in. We arrived at the turnstiles at about 9:00 so we weren't super early.

I agree, that would be great, but it's just him and me. Good advice though, to just go a rope drop and take our chances. Thanks everyone!

We usually go straight to Test Track and then to Sum of All Thrills. We don't go at very crowded times of year and the wait is always under 20 minutes when we get there. If you have no other rope drop priorities heading to SoaT first would definitely be the way to go. You should only have to wait for the next group to be taken in. Not many people go there first.

If you happen to be going to Disney Quest there is a very similar ride there and there is virtually no wait. Otherwise I agree with going at RD.
