I know that the DVC Resorts have 1 Bedroom Suites, and Art of Animation has the family suites along with All Star Music. Are there any other resorts that have the same thing? Or, if we want a suite/1 Bedroom, are we stuck with really expensive or Value?

Coronado Springs has some suites, but they aren't cheap.

How about a Cabin in Ft. Wilderness?

Your options are family suites, a Suite a CSR ( which is not cheap )Suites at the deluxes ( expensive) or DVC (little less expensive then a suite at deluxe, but still not cheap).Deluxe level suites are never included in the discounts either.DVC rooms are

At Deluxe resorts, some have "deluxe" rooms, which have a seperate bedroom, with a sitting room which has a pull-out sofa. I don't know why they don't call them suites, but they call them deluxe rooms. It took me awhile to figure it out.

I would go with a one bedroom at a villa. They have tons of space and include a full kitchen and a bathroom w/ a hot tub. the ones at OKW are the biggest...

Make sure you have the terminology correct when going to price things out - there is a big difference between the cost of suites at Disney resorts, and villas at Disney Resorts. While not cheap, a 1BR villa will be less expensive than a 1BR suite at the deluxe resorts. For example, a 1BR suite at BC runs $730-$790/night this week, but a 1BR villa at BCV is only $540/nt. You will probably get a Family Suite at a value for less than a 1BR villa, haven't prices those out.

Most deluxe resorts that offer the Deluxe Room category (not all of them do - Poly does not have this category, for example) do not have the separate bedroom - BWI and BC only have Deluxe Rooms that are one large room. I think it might be WL that is the only deluxe left with Deluxe Rooms that still have the separate bedroom. So if having 2 separate rooms is important, make sure you do your homework before booking!

They are offered in discounts but very rarely, since there are so few of them. BC only has 6 of this room category, and BWI & WL not many more. Also be aware that a Deluxe Room is Club Level, so you're paying more per night for those priveledges. You have to consider that when pricing out the options of suite vs. villa vs. Deluxe room (most if not all suites at deluxe resorts also come with Club Level benefits).

Thanks everyone.
So if I get this right, if I don't want to stay at a value (mainly due to DH's bad back and the value beds not getting along with each other very well), then the cheapest option is more than likely going to be a 1Br Villa? We've stayed at BLT and SSR and also POP and ASMusic (family suite), and DH says he can definitely tell a difference in the beds...I guess I just need to find the cheapest way to get into a 1Br Villa.....

How much advance notice is needed for renting DVC points? We are sort of planning on going in August before the fall semester starts, but won't be able to pay for it until closer to the time of the vacation. I know that when you get close to the time of the trip, DVC can be hard to get....Guess I should go ask some questions on the DVC board, lol.

With those plans, you are probably not going to get a DVC rental. Most members will want full payment since you would be about 60 days out if they made the reservation now. If they wait to make it, you might not be able to get what you want for the days you want. At this point in time, you are already pretty late for a DVC reservation for August.

Is it just four of you? Especially with a baby I'd think a standard room would be more than enough room. I'm just assuming here of course...although I know it would be nice to put the baby to bed then have time on your own in the room

Of all the places I've stayed at WDW the beds at Coronado Springs this past Christmas were the most comfortable to me. I slept better there than I did at Beach Club the year before.

It is actually 5 of us. Me, my DH, our two sons, and my mother. She is actually going to be living with us by the time we go this year, plus, we've taken her on all of our past trips (except our honeymoon) because she deserves a vacation, too, and if we don't take her she wouldn't be able to go on one. And initially I had been looking at just a regular room at POR, but DH dropped on me yesterday that he wasn't looking forward to this vacation as much because we weren't looking at staying in a 1 bedroom. I had even thought about two rooms at a moderate, but with the inability to guarantee connecting rooms, I'm not sure I'd want to take that risk, because two unconnected rooms wouldn't really help us.

I pretty much figured that we were too close to get DVC at this point. Although I have an IRL friend who said she wished we could use her remaining 14 points she has for this year because she will be losing them (I guess they were banked from last year).

I think a 1BR villa would be best in your situation. Like others have said, it's going to be very difficult to rent points at this point 2 months out, but there should be some availability for August in a 1BR for a cash ressie - at the very least at OKW or SSR. Why don't you check what's available, and the cost, and go from there?

That's what I'm doing right now. I'm actually checking all of the Villa resorts and for different dates in August. I just wish my DH wouldn't change stuff up on me in the middle of planning like this. We had decided on POR, and then he all of a sudden wanted the suite. Ugh, men!

Sounds like a plan. Let us know what you decide on!

If you go 2nd-3rd week in August, before free dining starts, you could probably get a 1BR in Boardwalk, OKW or Saratoga Springs. All of those are nice. David's vacation rentals rents points for $13 a point, so a 1 BR should cost around $2700 in August.
