Aloha! :)

Sorry! I'm confused(still) on pts system...

We have 12 pts we didn't use for our trip to HHI. They expire 2/29/04 {they were banked from 2002} and we can't go before then.

Could we trade with someone who could give us pts for our 2003 trip in June?

Do people want to rent so few pts? Is it worth the hassle for so few? Is fair price higher/lower for larger amount of pts?

Will we often have a few pts leftover? Should we have planned differently?

Any tips are helpful!

I'd be tempted to rent them from you myself! I currently have a PV studio at BWV for January and we're waitlisted for a SV 1-bedroom. Don't have enough points for the PV 1-bedroom and don't really want to pay cash for one night -- just too expensive. But I promised DH I'd just be patient since MS said we had a pretty good chance of getting the waitlist (I'm guessing if the PV aren't filled at 30 or 60 days or something like that, they give some people "free" upgrades to get the waitlist people into better rooms. Could be wrong there though???).

Anyway, I'd be tempted to try to rent them to somebody. There are probably a bunch of people in my situation -- would probably like a better room but don't quite have enough points. Trading is interesting, but that might be harder because it wouldn't necessarily be to the other person's advantage, just to yours. But if you can find somebody to do it for you, that's great (I'd offer, but we're actually using all borrowed points for our January trip -- we have February use year -- so I can't bank what we're using).

Good luck with whatever you do!

Since they're banked you won't be able to transfer them. You could rent them to someone to just get a day or so. If you have any other reservations, see if you can substitute for bankable points. You could also borrow points to combine and rent a larger package of points. You might be able to find someone able to use them now in return for giving you points later. You might also use them with other points for a CC option. It's not worth using your one time exemption for. Good luck.

Sorry, Dean! Told you we are confused...

But what is a CC option?

concierge collection. A series of top end hotels and ins like the Plaza, Biltmore, The Grand, etc. Espensive but nice and a good way to use points that might otherwise expires as there's likely one within reach of most people in the US.

Well, you could try to transfer the pts into my DVC account, I would be very happy ! :)

I had 13 points that were banked and I would have lost if they weren't used.

I posted them on the rent board here
Rented them with no problem and only needed to use 1 extra point. I had no trouble making the reservation, MS was great.
