We are starting to plan our first DVC vacation!!Yeepee!!
I was wondering if any of you DVC Vets can share with me any items you always bring, wish you had brought the first time, etc. I guess baggies, laundry and dishwasher tablets and plastic wrap are needed, but what else should I pack? Thanks, I'm so excited I'm starting to plan 7 weeks in advance!!!

Dishwasher soap is provided, so no need to bring that. We like to bring the laundry tablets though.

Coffee and coffee filters are a popular item to pack. We also like to pack a non-stick frying pan.

If you're in a 1 bedroom, I always like to pack a King Sized fitted sheet, in a bright, vivid color. I hate the flat sheets folded around the mattress to make a bottom sheet, and several other people on the board will also mention a fitted sheet.

If in a studio, you could bring a queen sized fitted sheet.

Also, we bring the laundry tablets (much easier to pack) and don't forget the drying sheets (which we usually do!).

We also pack a non-stick frying pan, or buy a cheap one at Walmart while we're there.

Oh! Also, we like to bring or buy zip lock bags to keep ALL food off the counters (to keep from attracting those tiny ants they have if Florida).

I'm always looking for ideas on what to pack because every time - even with a list - there's always something I didn't think of. I only started bringing baggies after reading a post. It's amazing how many things they can be used for.

Also -
We've only stayed in a studio so far. This year we'll be in a 2 bedroom. I keep seeing "non-stick frying pan" pop up and I'm wondering why we aren't waging a campaign to have one included in the rooms? Seems like a normal thing to have in a kitchen.

I always bring a couple extra bars of soap. One for the second sink in the master bathroom and one for the kitchen sink.

Me, too! Me, too!

Do you do it because the initial supply of "Mickey" soaps run out before the end of your trip or because you collect/save the "Mickey" soaps to bring home?

If I don't get the non-Mickey soap out right away (or hide the Mickey stuff), my DH will just use Mickey! I know he thinks I'm nuts. He just doesn't get it! :D

I think the frying pan is cause the one in the room, is aluminum and is not non stick.

I used it one time, used plenty of butter and I could barely clean it up. I left a note for housekeeping.

Think I'll put that on my list too.

I get the cheapy salt & pepper shakers too.

Shampoo, what's in there never last more than 2 days

I always bring a stain stick for the laundry, a couple of nightlights, and a corkscrew for any wine I buy at Epcot. If you use sugar and creamer you may want to bring that as well.

Have a great trip!

a decent fry pan! The cookware is okay but when you are cooking bacon & eggs it all sticks to the pans.

Hmmm....Im just back from BWV and they had a nice teflon frying pan already...something new maybe. Borrowed a blender from Mousekeeping and whipped up scrambled eggs (among other things, wink wink :) Also, they had sugar, sweet low and coffemate creamer packs....though I didnt use them cuz Im spoiled by my REAL cream (not half n half) and my dunkin donuts coffee made with spring water, that I bring with me.
Have a great time :)

Brita water filter. Grow your own water. The tap water tastes like a swamp but bottle water is big $$$ in Mickey World.

Sorry I can't add to many of the "cooking" supplies. I do a very limited amount of that (toast, bagels etc.). Yes, I may be "home" but I am on vacation!!!

Just limit the amount of clothes you bring!!! I have found that I way overpack on the clothing now that I belong to DVC. With the availabilty of the washer and dryer, I just throw a load in at night and re-wear those clothes again...........Laundry tablets are great.

Round coffee filters a must, spring water for coffee, and a couple pounds of your favorite blend to brew and enjoy while sitting on the balcony (OKW) enjoying the sights and sounds of "home".

Have a Magical trip.............

Ditto on limiting the clothes you pack! I do usually pack those disposable rain ponchos as they fit in a fanny pack. I am surprised about BW having a teflon fry pan as we were there a week ago and had a non coated one. What a pain when you are doing a big breakfast for 13 people thank goodness I packed a brillo pad! I only do it once a trip and this time didn't pack the pan. I too pack my spices up in mini ziplock bags about a quarter of the size of snack bags such as garlic, chives ( add them into scrambled eggs) cinnamon and italian seasonings.I have a shoe box that I can keep things compactly in and have it packed all the time so all I do it check it when we come home, refill it and store it till the next trip. I keep a coffee can in it also and put things in that so when I do my BIG breakfast I have a place for the bacon fat and just toss it out after breakfast.
The kids like instant oatmeal so I pack a bunch of that in the shoe box also.
