I'm taking my DD (1)to WDW in Sept and would like to take her to a character meal. Any suggestions on the best places to go?

We like PSB in Norway, and 1900 PF. Unfortunately, PF will be under rehab while you are there.

The first character meal I took DD7 to was PSB, for breakfast. She had a wonderful time, and the princesses were great (if a little rushed) with her.

The only other one we've gone to has been LTT, and she likes this one too. But, with a girl, and her being so young, I think the princesses would be great-they're faces are exposed, and they don't appear as large as some of the other characters (little ones can get a little scared :scared: )

Have a great time!

If you don't think she would be scared of the characters, Crystal Palace is really good!! It has the characters from Pooh there. Its a buffet resturant, I've eaten at both the breakfast and dinner, both are really good!! She would also probably like a princess meal somewhere. Not sure whats left for ADR's for your time, but can't hurt to keep checking if it's booked!!

We took our son to his first character meal at the Crystal Palace when he was 19 mos. That same trip, we also took him to Chef Mickey's, and he definitely preferred that. Our little one identified (and still does) better with Mickey than with Pooh. Now, as a 3-year-old, his favorite is Ohana for Stitch.

We did Chef Mickey last month. The food was good and the characters (Mickey,Minnie,Donald,Goofy) made their rounds to all the tables.

Thanks, these are great suggestions so far! I think I might try the Crystal palace and Princess breakfast. Does anybody know if children under 3 are free when it comes to the buffet character meals?

Try the Playhouse Disney breakfast or lunch at Hollywood and Vine at MGM. Those are probably characters she knows. I understand they dance and sing the hotdog song? and other really fun things. She will eat at no charge at the buffets.

We'll enjoy the H&V dinner buffet, non character meal, as part of our Fantasmic package. We are taking our 5yo to Chef Mickey's for breakfast. He eats really well at breakfast and the place has sanctioned rowdiness, right up is alley!

You may also want to check out something called Little Ones Magic Hour for her, its at the Magic Kingdom. She will have the opportunity to interact with characters then too. Check under Planning or Theme Parks at the top of this page to find more info.

Hollywood & Vine, Chef Mickeys or Crystal Palace are 3 excellent character experiences that your 18 month will enjoy. We took our DD to magical beginnings last year at 20 months and she enjoyed Chef Mickeys and Little Einsteins/Jo Jo & Goliath characters at Hollywood & Vine.

Go with a princess breakfast. Took our DD at 18 months. She loved the princesses but was a little scared of the characters.

I think Crystal Palace would be a good one for her age. More than likely she knows who Pooh and Friends are :cloud9:

My dd at that age (who is a princess fanatic now at 5) wouldn't have known who the princesses were.

My 22 month old last year loved CP. He threw himself at all of the characters and really enjoyed it.

I think the princess meal is the safest bet -- although at PSB, we did see a rather timid girl who couldn't have been two. She made it through though. I know my dd would NOT have done well at all seeing other types of characters that young -- she was terrified of any type of character in which you couldn't see the actual face until she was about five. All kids are different though -- some are never bothered by it. Keep in mind too, that the princess characters will be able to talk to your dd if she's a little uneasy which can help -- the others will not be talking.

Yes, kids uder 3 eat free at buffets. :cloud9:

We just came back and I would suggest the Holloywood & Vine for your little one. June & leo Einstein and JoJo & Golaith are there. They are great with the kids and they make several rounds of the restaurant. They also have a person that leads them in songs and does several parades around the restaurant. They have a seperate buffet for the kids too.

Chef Mickeys does look like Fun. I'll probably go there too. Thanks all these are great.:woohoo:

All the suggestions are great.:thumbsup2

Might I add one of my own:
Make reservations for a character meal towards the end of your stay...that way she'll have had some time to adjust to the characters.
You don't want her to be afraid and "ruin" the experience!!

The first time we took DD she was 22mo. She was so scared of any character she encountered. We were glad we had made ressies for CRT which has all "face" characters.

Last year DD was almost 3. The first day or so she still acted scared...but by the end of day 2 she was hugging almost every character!!! Just let her set the pace!!

Have a GREAT trip!!!
:goodvibes :goodvibes

Our DGD will be one in October and we've scheduled a lunch with the princesses at Akershus for her birthday. In reading about the various character opportunities, Akershus to high marks for not being too noisy.

Her big brother (4) loves Jasmine, so we are hoping she's there that day:goodvibes

We just came home last week and we did Akershus and Jasmine was there. We saw her there, at CRT, and at Epcot in Morocco (she was with Aladdin & Genie).
