Does anybody know which is the best credit card to have to accumulate airline miles?

I received an application for CapitalOne No Hassle Miles today and am just wondering if it's worth my time to apply or is there a better one?

We have just gotten Diners Club cards. They now have a MasterCard logo on them. They are a charge card, not a credit card, so the balance has to be paid in full each month. The personal cards are $95 per year, and $35 for secondary cards.

I get a deal on mine because I have a corporate Diners Club card that my company pays the fee so my personal card is free. I pay $35 a year for my hubby's card. It is 1 point per dollar and you can transfer the points for merchandise, miles, hotel points, etc.

Diner's Club is supposedly the best rewards card out there because they have won some award called "Freddie" for the last several years for being the best.

We put "everything" on this card including the cable bill, the cell phone bill, the utility bill, etc. The only thing we can't put on there is the mortgage and the car payment. We then basically just send them our paycheck each week except for a few dollars for things we must have cash for.

Thanks for the info.
This one has no annual or membership fee and is giving 2 points for every $1 spent on certain purchases and 1 point for every $1 on purchases at discount stores, warehouse clubs and wire transfers.
It's good for over 100 different airlines and there are no blackout dates or seat restrictions.
Just wondered if anybody out there has this card and if it works out ok.

Just the other day I was at the bank and I looked at the Disney Visa but the rewards weren't that great. The girl I talked to was very helpful and she told me that alot of people who come in wanting the Disney card end up getting the Chase Flexible Rewards Card (BankOne) because one of the rewards programs is travel that's eligible anywhere (any hotel, any airline) and it's much easier to rack up a Disney vacation that way than with the Disney visa card. Plus, the Disney card was 0% APR for just 6 months while the Chase Flexible Rewards Visa was 0% for a full year.

(And of course after that you can call and renegotiate the APR with a credit counselor)

(sorry, its a bad website. if you're interested and your bank is a chase affiliate you should go in and talk to them about it.)

Thanks, I'll check into that. Although, I'm one of the happy ones with the Disney Visa---I got $466 from my Visa card in a couple of years and it spent very well this past April on our trip there. (although there were quite a few servers that had no clue what kind of card it was).

I got double points a few times with the Visa and put every purchase I normally would put on a card that gives 0 dollars for money spent. It's a tough decision for me to switch to an airline reward points card because airfare is fairly reasonable here in PA to Orlando----in fact we all flew the last time for 3 of us for $470, so I guess the Visa vs an airline rewards card would be about the same for us. I pay off my credit cards every month, so that's not an issue for me with the APR, etc.

I guess there's always a catch with any credit card---they promise you double points but it's only on certain items, etc. So I'm pretty happy with anything I get back----but boy, that Discover card seems to be the toughest for me. It takes FOREVER to just get a few dollars.

We have the American Express Sky Miles card. The annual fee depends on the level, Blue, Gold or Platinum, that you apply for. We started with Blue and have worked our way up to Platinum for the perks. As others have stated we put EVERYTHING (from phone bills, groceries and even trips to Burger King!) on this card, but have never carried a balance or paid interest. The card is issued by Delta, but the points can be used at Northwest and Continental as well as Song. We have gotten many free flights using this card. Our next free flights are coming up in Oct on Continental.
