Suggestions, non-dining plan travellers

So our typicaly approach is to not get the dining plan, fill our days mostly with counter service but schedule a few favorite TS places. This gives us the flexibility of not having a strict schedule yet also to experience some nice sit-down meals.

We'll schedule a couple of favorites that we love going back to, but I'd like to experience at least one new place on the chance it could become a new favorite. I don't want to add places just to check them off the list, I'm looking for something really good (and yes, that is hugely subjective).

So, looking at my list of places where we have already been, what, in your opinion, have I really missed out on? What would be a fantastic addition?

Travellers are me, DH, DS18, DD16 & DD7. The little one is super-picky but would be happy if she can get macaroni and cheese. The rest of us are up for trying new things. This will be OOP so I'd like to avoid signature-type dining.

I've put asterisk next to our all-time favorites that we go back to time and time again:

AK
Rainforest Cafe

DHS
Hollywood & Vine
Sci-Fi
50s Prime Time

Epcot
Coral Reef ***
Garden Grill
Akershus Royal Banquet Hall (breakfast)
Biergarten
Chefs de France
Le Cellier
Nine Dragons
Tutto Italia

MK
Crystal Palace (breakfast)

RESORTS
Boma
The Wave
Chef Mickey's (breakfast)
1900 Park Fare (breakfast and dinner) ***
'Ohana ***
Kona Cafe
Whispering Canyon Cafe ***

DTD
Cap'n Jack's
Portobello

Agree with the PP: Raglan Road is a must try- we'll make a special trip to DTD just to eat there.

Sanaa at AKL is another place that we will go out of our way to eat at!

I know you said you don't want signature-type prices, but HDDR is a must do for everyone at least once!

My top non signature choices would be

Sanaa, Ragland Road, Turf Club, Wave, Via Napoli

Cape May at BC :thumbsup2 Our fave, hands down. They have the best clam chowder, and crab legs, but have plenty non- seafood dishes and yes, mac & cheese, chicken nuggets ;)

We really like Yak and Yeti at AK, i think they are owned by the same people who own Rainforest (Landry's???). The food is always really good!!

I think some of the signature restaurants are more affordable out of pocket than the character meals! I wouldn't write them off unless you looked at the menus to gauge pricing.

I would suggest substituting Raglan Road for Cap'n Jack's. And Via Napoli for Tutto Italia. And Pakey's list is good.

Sorry to go OT, but I have to ask. I often find that I agree with both of you on restaurant choices, but we don't like Raglan Road at all. We've eaten there twice & didn't like anything we ordered. The bread pudding would probably have been good, but I followed DIS recommendations & poured too much sauce before trying it. That was my bad. Other than that, I wouldn't want to even try anything we've ordered again. What do you all order at RR? Maybe we're ordering the wrong items.

Teppan Edo would be fun for all ages, and Via Napoli is good too. We love Yak & Yeti at AK and Tusker House breakfast is good too.
