Suggestions Needed for a "surprise"

Good afternoon,

I'm stuck. I managed to get my mom and I two nights at the CR for our trip this week, and she has no idea about it yet - I'd like to come up with a way to surprise her! I'll be at Pop tomorrow night, then Ma is joining me on Wednesday at Pop and thinks that is where we're staying for the rest of the time she's there. Unbeknownst to her, I managed to get the other two nights she'll be in Orlando at CR, our dream hotel since I was a little girl gazing out the monorail window as we rode through the tower. Mom has never, ever stayed on property (we camped or stayed off-site when I was young) and she hasn't been to Epcot in over a decade or the rest of the World in almost 20 years (!!!), so this is a big trip for us! It's also our first "adult trip" together.

I wanted to just wake up on Thursday and say "pack 'er up, Ma, we're movin' on!" but then I didn't want her having to rush around on Thursday morning trying to get everything repacked. We're also hitting rope drop at MK on Thursday, so she knew I was planning on us taking a cab to the Contemporary and walking over (however, now we'll be taking a cab and leaving our carry-ons at the front desk!!), but we'll be heading over so early now to "check in" at CR and then try to make the opening show, I don't want her having to rush to pack because she didn't know.

I thought about making a card from one of the Disney characters and "asking her" to come stay at CR. I also thought about just telling her Wednesday night. Or I thought of making it last minute running around Thursday morning, but we're already going to be up at the crack of dawn for EMH that day. Can you help me think of a fun way to surprise her?

I'm leaving tomorrow at 6 p.m. for the airport. So if you have an idea, make it snappy! And thanks!

What a lovely thing to do for her! I would tell her Wednesday night so she doesn't have to unpack and repack -- I am sure that you will have a wonderful time! Enjoy!

I was thinking to tell her Wednesday that we wouldn't be staying another night. But I don't want to tell her we're staying at CR; I kind of want it to be a "oh look where we are" when the cab pulls up and we go in. I just don't know how to do it!!!

usually I'm very creative, but I'm floundering here. And my time is running out!

Regardless, we're staying at the CR! So excited!

I would tell her not to get too comfortable at Pop because you have a surprise for the next day, but not tell her what. Get up early, take a cab over and check in. I'm sure she will be thrilled! Great surprise!

I would do this:

Get up early early and go for breakfast then as you sit down to eat say 'oh no, I left so-and-so in room (camera or something)'

Run back and literally THROW everything in bags and take them to the front desk and ask if they can send them over to CR.

Run back to breakfast with said forgotten object and carry on with your day. On the way to the CR tell Ma you got a dinner/drinks/dessert reservation there and voila!

Man, you've got a point. It would be a REAL surprise then. But our bags probably wouldn't make it to the CR for a long time, right? Like, until that night? We'd need to change before going to MNSSHP that night.

Though, you know, she'd never think anything of it if I went back to the room - I could possibly pack it all up. Maybe I could just show up back down at the food court and say "let's get outta here" or something. I wish I could know when the bags would arrive at CR if I did that.....

THats what I'm saying - it would be a PROPER surprise. I'm sure if you told the front desk the situation and how wonderful it would be they could get your stuff over by late afternoon. When you get to PoP check that with them straight away and I am sure they will help you make the surprise happen - afterall, thats what they are all about 'magic' ask them to help create some magic

If you want to have your bags sent over to CR, call POP bell services when they are ready, or bring them down to the bell services desk. We had our bags transferred from BC to VWL on our last trip and bell services said they would be there between 2-3 pm. They were definitely there when we checked in at 4 pm. Depending on when you wanted to get dressed for MNSSHP, this could work!

Oh she will never ever in a million years guess that we're staying there. She's firmly entrenched in the knowledge that we're staying at Pop the WHOLE TIME - mainly because up until about a week ago, we were.

We'd definitely need the bags there when we check in to the Contemporary. God willing we'd be able to check in early, but if not, we'd need our bags for clothes and toiletries once we leave MK that day; our "plan" was to head back to Pop in the late afternoon on Thursday around 3 or 4, chill a little in the hot tub, take a nap, and then get dressed for the night and head out around 6 or 7 to MNSSHP. Now, we'll be within walking distance, so everything gets a LOT easier - but I'd really need those bags!

That being said, I'll be out and about Wednesday morning - maybe I could pick her up a little something that might clue her in. Ugh, why aren't people easier to surprise!?!?

Yeah, I keep returning to this in my head. But I'd like it to be something crazy - wonder if I could get some type of special transportation from Pop to the CR.

Maybe it's a good idea, while I'm trying to figure it out, to mention it upon check-in on Tuesday and see if Pop has any ideas, or maybe any suggestions, or any time frames or ANYTHING so that I can pull off something cool. I wanted to buy her a lanyard with some pins on it... is there a Contemporary pin?

So, you need to pack for her under the guise of 'i left something in the room' whilst eating breakfast, get bags to FD. Then do as you were going to do and head on over to CR your Ma not seeing anything has changed.

Then when you get to the CR you could hand her a voucher that you've made saying 'Good for Two Nights in CR blah, blah, blah to redeem this fantastic offer blah blah blah'

I can't really think of a surprise but I would try to at least do online check-in for the Contemporary and that way once you arrive there you can say surprise were staying here.

I did! I was so excited I did online check-in for both of our hotels this past weekend. I'm just still in awe that I managed to snag the CR room - they've been really hard to come by (for a good price).

Just an FYI - I DID manage to surprise my Ma! I got a crazy far room at Pop and told her not to unpack as we'd be "changing rooms". Little did she know we'd be changing resorts as well!
