Hello - I am going to try to book a Cat 3 for DH's 30th birthday next year. It will just be the two of us, so I am not concerned with if it is bigger or where the extra bed is located (unless you think I should be)! I would just like a cabin that will not be affected by scrapping chairs from the deck above. Is this possible?

Thank you for any suggestions!!!

Every cabin on deck 8 suffers from some sort of deck 9 noise.

We've been in 8048, which is close to midship, we got the 5 am deck cleaning and chair scraping noises every night.

Look at the deck 9 plans, compare them to the Cat 3 room locations, stay away from the kids & family pools & ping pong tables, I am thinking forward may be quieter at night???

If you want a cat 3, you may be too late already, they can book years in advance. Good Luck!

I agree 100% here. Last cruise we stayed in 8022 and the overhead noise at 5:00am wasn't as bad as mid-ship. But still did hear some noise.

Best advice is to bring some kind of white noise machine. That's what I'm doing from now on.

Let's hope DCL corrects this problem with the new ships.

We had 8580 aft and heard no noise from Deck 9. This was a cat 4 room, but The room right next door was a Cat 3 room 8582.

We stay in Cat 1 and you can hear the noise out in the main room. I use the tv on a "snow" channel to help with the noise and the creaking of the ship. After the first night or so, you are usually too exhausted or had enough alcohol to crash. LOL!!

You may not be able to book now, but you can get yourself on the list. There are usually cancellations at the payment in full date, but the prices can be quite high. If you can book, you may have to take the room that you can get. We booked our Cat 1 last August for next April.

Good Luck!

We have stayed in four different cat 3 cabins - 8048, 8532, 8600 and 8602. We found 8048 to be very noisy, especially in the early morning, and while the deck party was going on. 8532 was noisy up until when the arcade closed - sometime around midnight - kids running back and forth. We found that both 8600 and 8602 were very quiet, even though they are under Topsiders/BBB. The only drawback to those cabins is that the verandah is wide open to anyone looking down from deck 9 (would be the same for 8100 and 8102). We have 8086 booked for next year and it is also under Topsiders/BBB, but the verandah is covered. We're hoping it's as quiet as 8600 and 8602 were.

We also stayed in 8048. It was noisy. Mornings especially!! I think the scraping of the chairs started around 5 or 6 in the morning! This next time we have 8532...doesnt sound like it will be much quieter! :upsidedow But thats ok! I still have my midship Cat. 3!!! I think I will be able to put up with alittle noise!:thumbsup2

We too are getting room 8532, and I was wondering if anyone else had any problems with noise?

We have had 8532 and will have it again on our Dec. cruise. We did hear noise, it was sounds of running feet. I am sure it was kids running in and out of the arcade. Also with the verandah doors open you could hear the movie playing on the Jumbotron. Even, with the noise we love the layout and the location of the Midship Cat. 3s and we had no problems sleeping or tuning the noise out.

After our experience with 8532, if I were going to try to get another mid-ship cat 3, I think I would try for 8032 or 8034. Since they are on the other side of the ship, they are under/close to Cove Cafe. Since that is an adults only area, I would think it would be much quieter than being near the arcade.

We stayed in 8080 last year and loved it! It is almost all the way back right by the aft elevators and below the Deck 9 beverage station. I don't remember any particular noise and the suite was lovely.

You need to contact (or have your TA contact) DCL right away. There are very few suites and most are booked up close to 2 years in advance. It used to be that people would book them and then change their minds later opening up inventory. However, you now have to put down a fairly substantial non-refundable deposit so people aren't bailing nearly as much as in the past. If you go during a quieter time, say early Sept or in Jan after the holidays, you might get lucky.

I'll vouch for 8102 being quiet wrt Deck 9 noise. It does get noisy pulling up to the dock if they use the lateral engines. All in all, it's a great stateroom.
