Suggestions for Ponchos?

I bought the cheapy ones because we don't like to carry them around after we use them. They serve the purpose--not perfect, but what is! LOL! I bought a pack of 20 at Amazon for $18.

I have heard some people buy the $1 ones and just toss them when they are done that day with them. I picked up some Disney ones on sale and ended up being the same as if I'd bought from Wal-mart or Target a better brand so just watch the Disneystore.com site for sales on those from time to time. The Disney ones were rather sturdy so that was nice. Someone else has recommended looking at lightweight rain jackets like frogg toggs. Basically it's about what your preference is.

We bought Disney ponchos back in the early 2000s and we still have them. They still work fine. The only thing was I'm not a toddler anymore, so on our recent trip we had to purchase a new adult one for me.

They also work great for camping.

Our Disney ponchos have stood the test of time. And, if they tear during use in the parks, any store that sells them will replace them at no cost.

That said, the Dollar store ones are simply too short in the body and sleeves for me (or anyone over about 5'2). So, they work fine as daily disposable coverage for kids or smaller adults.

And, finally, the middle ground for us has been the Walmart brand ponchos - they come in adult and kid sizes and they are usually by the umbrellas, not the camping gear. About 5 dollars and they come with a cover to roll it back up into. We brought these http://www.walmart.com/ip/Generic-127WA/19480463 on our last trip and we really liked them.

We buy the cheap ones also.....treat them as a throw away item.......they are pocket sized....but storing them after the rain is a royal pain.........so we just chuck them out.

This costs under 20 bucks to have a few extras for each person for possible rain days.......but still cheaper than WDW ponchos and having to carry the wet stuff around....

Walmart sells Ozark Trail ponchos for $4. Definitely fit in backpacks and more durable than the $1 throw aways.

Another vote here for the Disney ponchos.....pretty durable. We did purchase Disney raincoats one year on Main Street. they would fold up into the pocket when not is use. Great quality and we have used them for years...at home too. A little spendy, but worth it. The Dollar store ones ripped easy and stick to you weirdly. Not good at all.

We get a handful of the cheapy ones from the local drug stores/dollar stores to wear while on water attractions. Since they're cheap we hand them off to folks who don't have them heading into line if they didn't rip too badly during our ride. Otherwise, if you know it's going to rain all week, I'm throwing in another vote for the Disney ponchos. Durable, decent protection, and fully replaced if they do happen to rip during your stay. (Keep the receipt).
