Suggestions for Non-signature and non-buffet meal for group dinner?

Hello! We are heading down next spring for a trip with family and my parents want to take us all out for a dinner as a group and trying to keep it on the less pricey side (in Disney terms, of course). It is going to be a "celebration" dinner of sorts but nothing too fancy is needed either. The group is 6 adults, a 12 year old that eats like an adult and a 2 year old who isn't very picky.

I have come up with Rose and Crown, Kona Cafe and Trattoria al Forno as possibilities so far. I have never been to any of them so hoping for feedback and other suggestions. I personally love buffets (Boma )but parents thinking traditional sit-down. Thank you!

I would do 'Ohana (food is served family-style)

"less pricey"-- any sitdown is going to be expensive for 8 people, so actually I would prefer a buffet or family style as your price is set beforehand.

Another option is Boatwrights at POR. Easy to get a reservation, not chaotic, roomy (tables not on top of each other), menu is good for picky eaters.

Thank you for your suggestions! I didn't think of Ohana and Boatwrights wasn't even on my radar... I think we would all like to check out POR too so I am going to take a look at it. I think they just want the whole experience of a traditional sit down if that makes sense, not that they are opposed to buffets usually but just for this occasion. It will be expensive by regular standards for sure and I think they are expecting that but just trying to minimize the cost even a little if possible by avoiding signature restaurants. Thank you again!

We had a family meal at Boatwrights in August. It was 5 adults and two kids (7 & 8) - we all enjoyed our food. They sat us around table which is nicer for conversation. The restaurant is spacious and we’ve always had a good service.

My recommendation would be Sanaa. Of the ones you listed I would go with either R&C (for Illuminations preferably) or Kona, we really disliked our meal at Trattoria, so I can't recommend that based on our experience.

Best value would be Trails End but it is a buffet and isn’t easy to get to. Sanaa is great as many have suggested I also would say Morimoto’s which has a lot fairly reasonably priced items it can also be quite expensive all depends on how you order. O’Hana is a great choice but it’s not what I would call reasonable at $45 a person.

For large group meals that aren't very costly, I'd recommend Whispering Canyon Cafe and Yak & Yeti. I like Ohana too for a fun family meal, but it will be more costly.

What about Sanaa or The Wave?
I loved Saana but I think my parents may not enjoy the style of food. The Wave is also one I didn't think of! Thank you!

We did Trail's End last year and really enjoyed it... maybe I will suggest that to my parents because it is a nice resort to check out in my opinion too. Thanks!

Yak and Yeti is another I didn't consider- thank you!

We've always had good experiences at Trattoria al Forno. The food is good and it's really fun to walk around the Boardwalk in the evening. You can watch the jugglers and magicians and take a surrey bike ride.

The Wave is great! GF Cafe is also very good.

Yak & Yeti is ok, but I always feel a bit rushed in there.

Rose and Crown is ok. We much prefer Spice Road Table in EP.

Thank you, I felt the same at Yak and Yet when we went too... GF cafe I'll pass along too!

Check out the restaurants at Disney Springs. There are so many new ones.

Via Napoli could be a cheaper option if you can order two or three of the mezzo pizzas to share. They will do half and half on them as well. Get the family salad to go with it and some zeppole to share. The only draw back is it could be a little loud.

Trattoria al Forna is delicious. Out of all of the non signature places we have been, this has a much nicer atmosphere than most. The food both times we went was delicious! As some others said, walking around the Boardwalk is also fun. Boatwrights is also amazing, but it’s not as much of a destination. Fantastic food though. Sanaa also has a really pretty atmosphere, and the food is very good if you are more of an adventurous eater.

With a larger group I would consider Teppan Edo. Food and entertainment are good and its probably in the middle as far as price goes. I think dinners are largely going to cost about the same price, unless you get buffets which would be more expensive. Raglan Road would also be a fun option with good food.

Thank you all so much for the replies... the top few my parents are excited about mostly come from these suggestions here so very much appreciated!

Biergarten! It's so much fun for an intergenerational crowd. Adults love the beer, food and music - kids love dancing on the stage.
