The parks sound as if they will be very busy on New Years Eve and I don't want to have to spend all day in there. There are four of us, Me, DH, DD (14) & DS(10) - suggestions please.

What would be/has been your best way to spend NYE in Orlando?

Thanks,

Camac

Yes you are right - unless you are prepared to go to the parks early and stay in the one you are in, you may get shut out.

An alternative that comes to mind is Universal - memories of Janice's millennium trip come to mind as I remember that they arrived later and also left the park for a little while and I'll post a link to her reports !!

I've also done NYE at Universal, and it was a blast !

It was some time ago, in '94 in fact. As I recall we headed off to the park mid evening, around 7-ish, and though the park was busy of course, it wasn't ridiculously or unpleasantly so. After going on various rides, we set ourselves up somewhere near the lagoon, and watched the boat stunt show (I think it was a special one for that night), then the fireworks.

It was a fresh evening, and there were so many fireworks going up that at one point for a few minutes, the air was so full of both smoke and mist/steam that you really couldn't see the fireworks as mush as hear them !! :hyper:

We had a great time and wouldn't have missed it !

My lass and I are bringing her kids over this Boxing day, and it's a pretty good bet we'll be going to Universal, or IOA, for NYE.

As I said, I went some 9 years ago, so I cant be sure, but given that there is all the extra capacity of IOA now, I wouldn't have thought it would be much busier now.

Hope this helps ! :D

Epcot may be your ticket

You can do Future world for the kids during the day.

Have a nice Dinner at one of the countries. Better get Ps now.

And spend evening in World Show Case.

World Show Case will be a blast for all.

And Illuminations has 2 shows that night.

We have been there last 4 years and yes crowds are large but SUPER HAPPY.

We've been in Orlando only once for NYE and spent the day in Epcot. DDs at that time were about 12 and 17 (?).

It was a very long day, but I would do the same again if we went another year - it was an amazing party atmosphere everywhere :yo-yo: and we just took our time enjoying things we're normally too busy rushing past to get to the next attraction! We sat on a lot of benches, nodded off for a few minutes in the American Adventure :o (along with about three quarters of the other guests there!), browsed in a lot of shops and also managed a few rides along the way. :)

The worst thing for us was the freezing cold that day - but that would have been the same whichever park we'd visited. We had a great day, but would have enjoyed it more in the sunshine!

However, I'm sure any of the parks would be fantastic places to be for NYE - take your pick and have a great day :teeth:

Like Hilary we spent the day at Epcot. The drivers on the Dis Buses had said all week to make your mind up which park you were going to go to on NYE and stick with it.

Epcot did close early evening as it reached full capacity although our friends got in at 5pm with the signs saying closed but when they got to the gate they were let in.

We had a great day in the park (except for the cold - take bobble hats and coats, you can always put them in a locker). The fireworks were the most spectacular we have ever seen.

We would go again.
