We are looking into trading points for a 4 night stay in Las Vegas. Does anyone have a suggestions or recommendations? Is this a waste of points? Do we need to stay a week? Since we are new DVC owners and its Saturday, we are asking for the experts help. Thanks.

I wouldn't waste points on Las Vegas...the hotels are pretty cheap there. Besides, I'm not positive but I think the trades are off the strip.

It all depends on where you would stay in Vegas. For a nice room, it is NOT cheap. Also, if you stay on a Friday or Saturday in Vegas, a standard 400 sq. ft. room could easily run you $200-$300 / night at places like Mandalay, Venetian, Paris, Palms, etc...

Like I said, it all depends on the trades.

Well, yes, it's NOT cheap, if you're staying at the most expensive places you mentioned, BUT there are a lot of other nice hotels in Las Vegas, that aren't expensive. I just got an email from Treasure Island for $75 a night...pretty cheap for a nice hotel.

IIRC, all of the options for Las Vegas are via Interval International. That means they are for 7 days.

Best wishes -

The $39 and $49 rooms at the top resorts are still frequently available. They are harder to find that they used to be. Try papers like the LA times and any larger CA area. Search the net and even call the reservation numbers. You may hit it when somethings going on and nothing is cheap, but if that's the case, everything will be difficult. I would not use my points on LV, esp for less than a week. Rent them and pay cash or a similar option.

If you want to stay on points, I HIGHLY recommend Polo Towers, or The Villas at Polo Towers! These are BEAUTIFUL accomodations which are very similar in floorplan to BCV/BWV. It is on "the strip" just minutes away from MGM (also near Caesar's, Excalibur, Treasure Island, and MANY others), at what I call the "good" (meaning "high dollar") end of the strip!! I know these rooms (when you can get them) rent out for hundreds a night. They are smaller than DVC accomodations, but that is Vegas!

I had the luxury of staying in them many times when I was a flight attendant. The Polo Towers did not want to open the accomodations up to "the public", so they called our airline to see if we wanted to contract for the "extra rooms" they traditionally had due to "trade outs". It was WONDERFUL!!! Most often, we were in the "lockout" studio parts, but every once and a while, we would get one of the one bedrooms...they really were nice!!!

here's their website:

Good luck!!

Also, I know I have stayed at "The Carriage House", and I seem to remember it was not on the strip. I could be wrong, but that is my gut.

And yes...you do have to trade for 7 nights to stay there.
