I am quickly planning a budget trip to Disney for next week, and I thought I could stay with relatives in Washington DC on the drive down, but they are out of town!! So I am desperately looking for a hotel off I-95, somewhere south of the "Mixing Bowl" (Springfield area) but north of Richmond. So somewhere around Fredericksburg or a bit north of there, or anywhere around that area! As with most travelers, I am looking for a safe area. :)

I tried a search but did not find much!

Anyone know the area or stayed anywhere around there on the long drive down?? Thanks for any info!! :) :teeth:

This thread of links stuck at the top of the page includes a link to the wdwinfo.com transportation page, which includes hotel information for I-95 from VA through FL. The usastar.com I-95 information page is also linked there and includes similar information.

In the Fredericksburg area exits 130 and 126 are probably your best options. The area around Potomac Mills (exit 152 or 154) has quite a few options as well, but you'll still have DC traffic to contend with in the AM. If you keep going south of Fredericksburg, Ashland (exit 92) and then Richmond are your next best bets.

I've driven from Richmond to WDW before. It's approximately 13 hours. It can be done in a day, admittedly it would be a long day, though.

I agree, there a many hotels in Fredericksburg. There is a Wytestone Suites near Potomac Mills that was very nice. It's been over a year since I stayed there but was easy to reach.

We've stayed in a Hampton Inn in Fredericksburg, VA (exit 130A) several times. It's clean and safe. This is a nice area for a stop. You would be about 45 miles south of DC. :goodvibes

We drive down to D.C. at least once a year and we ALWAYS stay at the Embassy Suites in Old Alexandria VA. It is a very nice hotel and includes breakfast. It is VERY easy to get to and once you are there, you just park in the parking garage and you never have to use your car again. The Metro is right across the street. It is so easy to get around using the Metro!! If you drive into D.C. you will never find a parking spot.
If you have any other questions, just let me know.

A little further south than you wanted, but Best Western Kings Quarters at the Kings Dominion Theme park in Ashland has really great deals when the park is closed in the winter. Once you stay there, they send a "Snowbird club "card with even better discounts. They also have the coupons in all the books you pick up at rest areas.

Thanks to everyone!! This is the kind of info I was looking for! I usually don't stay in Virginia on my long drive to Orlando (from New Jersey), so it's new territory to me! I got to make up my mind pretty quick, as I leave very soon! :) :)

We've stayed at the Wyetstone at Potomac Mills and found it very nice and comfortable.

There's a brand new Hilton Garden Inn near Central Park in Fredericksburg that's really nice. If you want to stay right inside Central Park, there's Holiday Inn Select. Lots of shopping and restaurants right at your finger tips and there's a mall across the street for indoor shopping.
