On Saturday, Aug. 21 we will be arriving at DCA around supper time and we have to pick up our picnics and then go to WOC for 7 o'clock. After the show I am hoping to go over to DL. This is our first time at DL so I am wondering if you have any suggestions as to what you like to do on your first night at the park.:goodvibes

I was wondering the same thing. This will be my 4 y/o daughter's first visit, and I don't want to overwhelm her. Since we will be arriving mid-afternoon, I was thinking that I would just let her see Main Street and pick out an Autograph Book. After that, I was just going to let her explore at her own pace. I don't want to wear her out after one day (especially since we will be coming from Detroit and will be jet lagged).

Sorry, OP, I don't have any great suggestions because we don't hang out at the parks after 10 or so very often! I am sure you will get some great responses, though!

Mom2aJessieGirl, a few thoughts for you. We love to start our trips with a bang by going to a character meal. You could go to the park for a little while to check things out (maybe catch the Pixar Parade at DCA) and then take that new autograph book over to Goofy's Kitchen for dinner - a nice low-key (OK, low-key compared to fighting the crowds and waiting in lines at DL) way to spend the evening after a day of travel and she'll get a whole bunch of autographs, photos and character interaction with no lines. We usually try for an early-ish dinner (6:00 or so) so we can relax and meet all the characters, and still get the kids in bed at a reasonable hour so we can get up early the next day and enjoy the parks!

P.S. I am Mom to a Jessie girl too! :)

I took my daughter for her first visit when she was 4 too. The look on her face walking that first walk down Main Street, taking it all in, then seeing the castle, was absolutely priceless :cloud9:

I don't think we did much else that trip but stand in line to see Princesses though. I think we rode a few Fantasyland rides, but not many and definitely nothing outside of Fantasyland - and that trip was 4 days long! :rotfl: My sister (who went with us) and I refer to that trip as "The Princess Pilgrimage"!

If you're going into the park for a little bit, ditto on Main Street and the Castle. That way they are out of the way. Another thing that would be low key and easy would be to ride the train around the park. That way you can kind of see the park and get an idea of where things are. Plus it's relaxing after the drive/flight. You could also meander down DTD, get some dinner and just wander so you'll be ready to go in the morning.

Do some night rides, I really like doing the Jungle Cruise at night, it's really different night and day, what about riding Pirates or Pooh Bear or BLAB, or anything in FL would be good. :)
