Suggestions for comfortable shoes in the parks?

I'll be looking up some of these shoes this weekend. Thanks for all the suggestions! :)

I am a flip flop diva and live in them year around. I have well over 200 pairs, but my favorites for WDW have always been Teva Mush (have them in just about every color:rotfl:). I love, love love my Teva Mush for the parks, but unfortunately within the last year I've developed plantar fasciitis in my left foot and the Mush don't work so well anymore.:headache: I've been on a quest (and have spent a fortune:rotfl:) since last Oct trying to find the right flip flops. The ones I round up with that I like were Fit Flops, Sketcher tone up (Glam Punk), Orthaheels (Tide and Wave), Merrells, Zealands, and my old faithful Montrail Molokinis. For my WDW trip a couple of weeks ago the Sketcher tone ups and Orthaheels saved my trip. A friend I was with swore by her Nike Celsos. I have a few pairs of Nike Celso also and like them, but with my sore heel preferred my Sketcher tone ups and Orthaheels. The Orthaheels are little more expensive but soooo worth it for comfortable feet.

I have also always liked Reefs, but wore a pair shopping yesterday and after wearing the more expensive flip flops made pretty much exclusively for foot problems, I couldn't believe the difference in comfort. The Fit Flops, Tone ups, Orthaheels, and even Zealands felt sooo much better. As I get older I guess I'll be paying more for comfort. Oh well, my D-I-L has been threatening to go shoe shopping in my closet. I guess I'll let her. lol

I also have a stress fracture in my heel for the second time in less than six months. So now I have to completely rethink the shoes for Disney.
Just got Skecher Shape Ups Sandals last week. Although I can only wear one right now (other foot in a boot), it feels really good! And I'm debating buying more shape ups for Disney. The support under my arch is amazing and my feet don't get that tired feeling when I'm walking most of the day.
I hate sneakers in Disney in August. My feet feel like they're suffocating. I have to wear sandals. But these are the closed in kind of sandals and has some heel support. And although I bought them for the arch support, after 3 days wearing them I definitely felt the "toning" in my leg!

You can never go wrong with walking or running shoes. Many of the newer styles of running shoes have upper mesh tops. They are much cooler than all leather kinds. My most recent purchases I made sure they have the mesh uppers that I can see thru the thin material.

:thumbsup2 Right on, Red !! A good pair of walking shoes with mesh uppers works for me every year. I usually buy Reebok or Nike which aren't too expensive. This year I got a pair of New Balance which were a little more pricey.. The mesh uppers breathe and if it rains they dry off pretty quickly. Since they're walking shoes they just conform to your foot and feel great. I also usually set em up with some Dr Scholls foot pads for additional comfort. ;)

Asics running shoes in the morning and Teva Mush by night!!!:thumbsup2

Can somebody recommend something for a wide foot and high arch? I have custom insoles I put in my tennis shoes and can never wear sandals all day since I can't customize the fit. I almost can never find shoes wide enough though. Usually a regular wide doesn't cut it. I can never find good shoes.
Crocs don't work for me due to not enough arch support. Would love to have a pair though! I was excited to hear of fitflops but since they only come in medium width, I know there is no way they will ever work for me.
Thanks for any help.

Chacos!! I LOVE my chacos. I wear them year round because I would rather have cold feet than poor arch support! These shoes work well with wide feet too b/c the straps are so adjustable. I had plantar fascitis in my right foot really bad, then I bought my first pair of chacos...it has cured my feet! I now have 3 pairs of chacos and will NEVER buy another pair of flip flops again! You can view them at chacousa.com

My husband and I just got back this week from our most recent trip. The key is having a couple different pairs of shoes, as someone already stated. We each had three pair of shoes: Nike running shoes, Nike athletic sandals, and Vibram Five Fingers. After wearing the Vibrams, I didn't want to wear my other shoes. My husband, on the other hand, was happy to have a couple different pairs to choose from, as he couldn't wear the Vibrams all day. For me, they were great. I wore them enough that I have tan lines from them, and they never bothered me. If you decide to check them out, wear them ahead of time because they are very different.

I love my Keens! Just bought my 2nd pair. I also got away with wearing my yellow box flipflops last year if we didn't stay for hours and hours. I've got 2 new pairs of teva mush flipflops (due to these boards) but I don't think they are as comfortable as the yellow box. :confused3 I need to give them a try though! I ALWAYS take my new balance or nikes just in case.

Keens and Tevas. Not the Teva Mush flip flops for all day though. I bring a pair of both brands and alternate days. I think that' a really important tip -not to wear the same shoes the whole time.

Because I have flat feet and plantar ficitis, I need good arch support. Birkinstock sandals fill the bill.

I have found, though, that switching up shoes helps a lot. I bring sneakers (leather Keds) and socks, Crocs Schutes, and two pairs of Birki's in different styles.

try earth brand. they are the original technology to the craze of fitflops and the MBT, etc. but they are SO WONDERFUL!!

they accomodate my wide feet just fine and come in ALL kinds of fantastic styles including sandals and sneakers and boots, etc.

i get mine on zappos.com - free shipping both ways so you can try lots of pairs and send back any that don't work.

also - RYKA works well for my wide feet too, but my feet/legs are happier in Earth for long distance treks.!
