We will be having dinner at the Hollywood Brown Derby during our trip next month. This is one restaurant we've never tried and I'm really looking forward to it. :cheer2: I know I want to get the grapefruit cake for dessert. What entrees is it known for?

Many thanks!

Yes, the Cobb Salad is famous and delicious! Honestly, everything we had there was good!

BD is one of our favorites - I love the filet and yes the Cobb salad is famous and delicious. The tuna and the lamb entrees were yummy too. The gazpacho was just ok but the Portobello Mushroom, Chevre Cheese Raviolo were wonderful. For desert the grapefruit cake is a must. The creme brulee was not a favorite of ours so go with something else! Have fun and happy eating,

The lamb and gazpacho are no longer on the menu, they have been replaced by veal and french onion soup. IMHO, the best is the salmon on polenta or the grouper. The Vanilla bean creme brule is awesome.

Love the Brown Derby. If you want to see what they have on there menu go to www.allearsnet.com. At the top there is a dinning button. Then they have a list of all of the resturants and there menus and when they were updated last. Hope this helps!!! Can't wait to go back there. I love the Cobb Salad.

Knowitall- Say it ain't so about the lamb!!! That is my favorite dish at the BD I was saddned when it went from mustard crusted to pistachio and mint crusted and now no longer available

...Anyways I love the BD...it is one of my favorites at WDW and I must eat there every trip. Here are a couple pics for you:

Cobb Salad-excellent
I think everything here is good. My only problem was they really rushed us here. I got up to use the ladies room and when I came back the waitress had taken my 1/3 full drink! Really rushed us...it's too bad because to me good service means a lot!!!

We have made it a tradition to always celebrate our anniversary by having dinner here. The atmosphere is snazzy, service is excellent and we love the food. We love the Cobb Salad, Filet Mignon and I cannot wait to have my Creme Brulee. As an added bonus, you eat at a place like this in your t-shirt and shorts. We have had the fantasmic package once and it was great to leave and head over to Fantasmic and have the guaranteed seats. Hope you enjoy it. :)

I couldn't wait to try the grapefruit cake on our Thanksgiving trip 05, after reading so much. Well, it was yuck, too tart. My friend said oh I am going to have the vanilla bean creme brulee and I tried to talk her into the cake. Her dessert was to die for!!! I had a thanksgiving turkey meal, which was great, DD and DH had the NY strips w/ add on shrimp, yum and one DD had the salmon, also very good

I had the seared tuna and for dessert the grapefruit cake...both were out of this world!! I have a new favourite dessert now.....

We loved this meal!! I had the Portobello mushroom, grouper and chocolate decadence for dessert..........delic. Everyone else had the lamb and pork. Everyone raved about them. You will not be disappointed. ::yes::

Regarding the grapefruit cake: I had it for the first time last month and really liked it. BUT you'd better like grapefruit juice! If you don't, I don't think you will like the cake -- it's very "grapefruity".

OH man....I didn't read everyone's replies, but the PORK TENDERLOIN!!! I was actually feeling kinda sick and not hungry at all by the time we ate there, and it was STILL the BEST entree I've ever had. It was really really good.
As for the grapefruit cake, I got it because it was the signature item and I just wanted to try it. I like grapefruit. I like cake. But it was a little much....not sweet enough for me for cake. I ate a little, and wished I had opted for the creme brulee.

One of my favorite restaurants --

cobb salad, beef/pork entrees, and of course the grapefruit cake

Say it ain't so about the lamb no longer being offered! Though not the absolute best lamb chops I've ever had, they certainly were in the top three. It was an excellent dish that went so well with a cabernet. Sigh. . .if this is true, then I may have to change my ADR. :confused3

Thanks for all the recommendations. Looks like I can't really go wrong. I appreciated the comments and the photos!

Can't wait to go.

The Chef didn't like the quality of lamb that was coming in so it got taken off the menu
