We're headed to AKV in 2 weeks. :cool1: I have not put in any kind of room request yet, but am looking for suggestions.

We will not have a Savannah view on this trip, just whatever a Standard view is. I understand there are some villa that were originally classified as Savannah view but are now Standard view, since the view was borderline Savannah. Does anyone know which rooms these are? Anyone have any other suggestions? :confused3

Thanks for your help! :santa:

Reclassification of some rooms to standard begins Jan 1 so your trip occurs before then. The reclassified rooms are two GVs and some 2BR lockoffs that are at the very end of the north wing of Kidani and mainly look north over a very small portion of Pembe savanna.

If you are in Jambo, there is no real request to make because all standards overlook pool. If Kidani, request pool view (that is best of group as others overlook front road and parking areas)

If you are in a standar view at jambo, request a room away from the elevators. We didn't make a request last time and ended up with a room that had both stairs and an elevator against our headboard. very noisy during the day as stairwell doors slammed shut.

We are staying in a standard view 2 Bdr at Kidani in February and I am thinking that this might work out for us, if they are available of course. What room location should I ask for? Unless you think a 2 Bedroom dedicated room is better, we are 2 families sharing the 2 bedroom and if the lock-off is smaller or has less bathrooms, then I would rather just stick with a dedicated 2 bedroom.

Thanks!!
Nancy

If you want any reclassified standards, you should call and ask which they are and ask for area they are in. My understanding is that they are at the end of the north wing facing Pembe to the north (so if you get one you will have a walk to the lobby that is over 1/4 mile) but just ask when you go to request. The 2BR lock-offs and dedicateds at Kidani are about the same size. The difference is that the second bedroom in the dedicated seems larger because it has no front door, no foyer area, and no small kitchen area. Also, it has two queens whereas the studio in the lock-off has a queen and a pull-out double.

So, all Standards in Jambo (regardless of room size) do not overlook the road or parking lot? That's great information. We recently stayed at Kidani and had a nice Savanna View. However, we thought that there was no way that we would reserve a Standard View and get a parking lot or road view. However, a pool view at Jambo would be worthwhile.

This is the view out of your balcony from room 7807, a standard studio at Kidani.

We didn't mind it at all. Just got back from there....

That is correct, all Jambo standards overlook the pool; the only rooms at Jambo that could have a parking lot/street view are "value" rooms.

So we just checked into a value studio and are in room 5131. We face the parking lot. Is that correct because last time we stayed in a value studio they tried to put us parking lot too and I remember reading that it shouldnt be so they moved us to a pool view

We are only staying one night before we go to Saratoga for a week and then coming back here for a savannah view studio for 2 nights so I didnt want to make a fuss but just so I know in the future, where exactly are value studio rooms?

thanks!

Value rooms can have either parking lot, pool or savanna views. The category is about the size of the room and not the view. That's the luck of the draw.

If you are in jambo, your view is the drive and parking lot. Standard views are all pool views.

If you are in kidani, I don't know what your view is but it probably isn't the greatest.

In October, we had a 2-br lock-off standard view room and requested lower floor near the lobby. This was to reduce the walk to the busses and such. We got room 7901 which was 5th floor, but it was the first room off the lobby elevator. Our view was of the from entrance of the lobby.

It was not an objectionable view, since we mostly could see the building. There are plenty of areas to view the animals, so for us it wasn't a big deal. The lower point cost was nice. I don't know if we would spring for savanna view, maybe someday.

We enjoyed our stay, KV made a rough trip down worthwhile.

In Jambo: Values can be Parking Lot (~20% chance), Pool (~40% chance) or Savanna (~40% chance). Stds are all of the pool.

In Kidani: No Values in Kidani. Stds can be of the parking lot area or the pool area. They're all located in the first few "nodes" on either side of the lobby.

This is exactly how I feel. I plan to always book Savanna, but if I can't, I will definitely book Standard at Jambo. I would HATE a parking lot view. We sit on our balconies a lot. Now the downside of a Standard 2 BR at Jambo is only 2 bathrooms (instead of 3 like at Kidani) and the master bath does not directly connect to the master bedroom.

Hi there I was reading about the views for the value rooms, but what is the size difference? Are they much smaller or something? Or are they like regular rooms? Thanks!

I was told the Savannah view overlooks the area where you can see the animals. Is this true because i just gave this information to someone who is interested in staying at the AKV

The value rooms are smaller than than the non-value AKV rooms; I think the studio value is ~50 sq ft smaller than the non-value rooms, not sure about the difference in dimensions for the 1 & 2 bedroom values.
The values are only in Jambo because these were once "regular" resort rooms turned into DVC rooms, hence the smaller size compared to Kidani rooms which was built specifically for DVC.

Yes, all rooms categorized as savanna view are just that, obviously some are better than others, but they all overlook the savanna. As a PP explained there are value rooms which are also savanna room, but this is not a booking category, i.e. you book a value room and hope that they put you in a savanna view.

HTH, please correct me if I'm wrong or add something I missed! :santa:
