We have a GV reserved in January 2004 and will be celebrating our DD's 5th birthday while there. We have invited some family and friends with kids along on the trip.

We thought about going out but decided it would better to celebrate in the Grand Villa. There will be at least 8 kids, all 5 years and under. Any suggestions on how to celebrate her birthday and make it special?

We can bring party decorations from home. But where can we purchase helium ballons or a specialty cake? I guess we can hit the supermarkets for food and drinks. Any special suggestions to make it different from just a party at home (our real one) would be appreciated.

Note: Just to let anyone concerned about noise know, we will have the get-together in the afternoon. In addition, since we live in an apartment building in NYC with 2 small children, we are very conscious about disturbing our neighbors. We WILL NOT let any get-together result in a young version of "Animal House." We will send ALL kids (& parents) to their respective rooms or studios for a nap before that happens.

Thanks for any suggestions.

You could do all the normal things you do at a 5 yo's party like games for the children, cake etc and then follow it up with a trip to DTD on the turbo ferry and get ice cream at ghiradellis followed by trips to the Lego store and the new toy store, a ride on the carousel and even playing in the fountain --if the adults are up for this! LOL! There is even a place at DTD where the kids can each get a temporary Disney tatoo, I am sure 5 yo kids would love this!
Also if you are going off site for party decorations, sodas etc., at almost all the strip malls where the grocery stores are located there is also a $ store or Walmart etc where you can get helium balloons and party favors. Have fun!!!!:Pinkbounc :bounce:

Remember to let them know at check-in that there's a birthday. You never know there might be a surprise delivered to the room.

A few years back they used to deliver ballons with a birthday message, check the front desk if they still do this. The Gourmet Pantry downtown can probably supply you with what you need for a party.

Call Disney and see if you can get your child's favorite character to come to the room, or meet you somewhere else on property. They do that kind of thing for weddings, so maybe they'd do it for a birthday (for a price, of course;) ).
