So due to circumstances out of my control, my February trip with loved ones has turned into a solo trip for me. I am pretty nervous (and disappointed) about it but trying to look at it as a fantastic opportunity to have a relaxing time and do what I want.

I am staying 7 nights at AoA and have a 4 day non-hopper pass. I have already made my FP+ for my park days and plan to have some down time at the resort. I am trying to decide what to do on one of my non-park days.

Options:

Backstage Magic Tour-7 Hour tour of all 4 parks w/lunch included. I did Keys to the Kingdom a few years ago and thought it was great. I also think I would feel less weird about doing this on my own.

OR

Universal Studios-This is what was planned when my brother and sisters in law were going and I was really excited about it. We went to IoA in 2012 and I loved the Harry Potter stuff and was so looking forward to seeing the new additions. I am just wondering if I will not have as much fun being by myself. (Weird as it is, this is not a worry for me at the Disney Parks...not sure why :confused3)

Both options are pretty close in price, so that doesn't really come into play when I think of pros and cons for each.

Any insight would be greatly appreciated. Also if anyone has ideas of other things to do on a non-park day, I am fully open to suggestions.

Thanks,

Kristi

Hi Kristi!

I think either way you will have fun, and it depends on whether you want to stay in Disney or experience UNiversal/ IOA.

At uni/IOA, there are a lot of attractions with a single rider entrance, and it will save you a lot of time!

Between the two, it's a hard choice... But I think they're both great ideas

Thanks! I didn't even think of the single riders line. That is definitely a pro for Universal.

So many things to think about.:headache:

I think the new Uni stuff is great. So my first answer would be to do that.

But just based on your post, it seems like you want to do the Disney tour. So I would go with that.

I hope you have a great trip :goodvibes

That's just the thing, I am so undecided. I know either one will be great, I think my biggest issue is that this is my first time going solo and it is kind of freaking me out.

Thanks for the response!:)

We took the Backstage Magic tour a number of years ago and hope to do it again - it was really enjoyable. And it's a small enough group that you might make some new friends!

If you're a Harry Potter fan- you will love Diagon Alley not just the rides but the detail of the theming itself. Im the only Potter fan in my family so I ditched them (actually they ditched me) at Diagon alley and went to ride other things. IT was so nice to explore at my own pace.

Yeah, I think under the circumstances, first time going solo, kind of nervous about it....I would stick with the tour.

That way you simplify things...you will remain onsite at Disney for the duration of your trip (which is one of the huge benefits of staying at one of the Disney hotels).

I think a group tour is such a great idea on a solo trip....A whole day tour with a group of folks sounds like a nice break from solo time. :goodvibes
