Suggest A Resort For First Stay.

I think we are going to try to rent points for our first stay onsite. I would like a 2 bdrm unit that actually has 2 beds in the 2nd bdrm. I believe all the 2 bdrms at OKW have them, but only "dedicated 2 bdrms" have them at the other resorts. I am going at argueably the most popular time for DVC stays: the first week of Dec. I know that OKW still has availability, but BCV & BWV are waitlisted even now for owners. IF I could get accomodations at either of these resorts, which of these 3 would you recommend for a family of 2 A/2 C (dd12/ds10) who have never stayed onsite? We will have a rental car. This trip, we would like to slow down and really enjoy our resort so I am looking for suggestions concerning activities we could do, (not just the pools, I'm afraid Dec might be too cold and if we book ONLY based on pool features we will be disappointed!)

Also, if the consences is that we should be looking at BWV or BCV, how do you go about renting points if you are on a wait list?

Thanks

Only SSR, VWL and OKW have 2 queens in all the dedicated units. For BCV, it's about a third of the dedicated 2 BR units. BWV doesn't have dedicated 2 BR units. If you'd have a car, I'd go with OKW. IF not, SSR. I doubt you'll have much success at the smaller resorts but it never hurts to try. You may want to rent a reservation for what's available and ask the member to wait list for the appropriate resorts. Frankly, any 2 BR should do what you want with 2 preteens other than having to pull out the second bed.

Thansk Dean. So I should rent points from someone who owns at OKW, make the reservation for there, and then go on a waitlist for one of the other resorts if I would prefer them to OKW?

Since you're looking at early Dec, doubtful you'll get what you want for the smaller resorts this close out. You should decide where you want to stay. If it's BWV, BCV or VWL, try an owner there first to see if there is availability just to make sure. If not, you could rent at either OKW or SSR and then wait list at 7 months out for the entire time at one time. Just make those arrangements up front with the person you rent from. The reason I suggested OKW first IF you have a car, is that it has larger rooms, 2 queens in all 2 BR and is less points. SSR is likely a little more convenient without a car though a car is preferable there as well, IMO.
